Chapter 64 Surprise
I'd never gotten used to parting ways with Tana once we arrived at the lecture halls, but I returned her small wave as she walked away because I knew I'd see her real soon.
The wind was having a field day, blowing through rustling leaves and ruining my perfectly laid hair as I walked toward my lecture hall.
I loved the weather, but it had its unpleasant quirks, ones that made it somewhat annoying.
After walking in long strides to avoid unnecessary chit-chat with passersby, not like I'd ever involve myself in conversing with anyone in the first place, I was finally seated right in time for the lecture.
As if on cue, the lecturer waltzed in a few minutes after I'd set up my laptop and greeted the class casually.
The lecture went by in a breeze mostly because I was immersed and intrigued enough to enjoy every bit of it. I loved being a brilliant mind in the tech space.
The lecturer left the class with a few students trailing behind him and badgering him with questions, while I stayed put.
I shot a quick text to Axel to inform him that I was done with my lecture, just to stay in touch even though I figured he'd be busy.
The thought of melting into the warmth of his embrace after a long day appealed greatly to me at that moment and I wished we were together.
Without waiting for a reply, I dropped my phone in my purse, packed up my laptop, and headed for a walk in the school's open field to clear my head.
While walking across the field and enjoying the solace, I let my mind wander until it dwelt on the familiar and intoxicating scent of Axel I could remember from our last encounter.
My body always fit like a glove in his, so so fucking perfect. There's no way we're not meant for each other, it must've been set in stone that we'd find each other.
A few minutes after I sat on a nearby bench to catch my breath, I felt someone lightly tap my shoulder from behind and I looked up to lock eyes with a wide-eyed brunette smiling kindly at me.
"Can I help you?" I asked as an uncomfortable silence built up.
Instead of responding, she brought her hands from behind her back to reveal a rose and a note attached to it which she dropped in my lap.
Curious, I opened my mouth to ask a follow-up question but she bounced away the second the items hit my thighs.
"Well. This better be worth the secrecy" I mumbled with a frown as I held the rose against my nose.
One whiff of the rose made me a lot calmer, it smelt like heaven in a plant. I'd never been one to love extravagant romantic gestures but this was somewhat simple and adorable.
Of course, my mind trailed off to Axel. He was always one to go the extra mile to make me feel as though the world revolved around me, only he could be behind this.
With that thought registering in my head, an eager smile spread across my face quickly and I unfolded the note.
"Do you trust me? Wait by the fountain opposite the humanities building, bring your pretty ass to the spot at 10."
I looked around to make sure no one saw how much my already huge smile had grown, I was burning with anticipation, and after being engrossed in thoughts about Axel I was elated at the thought of
meeting him soon.
Quickly, I grabbed my things and stuck the note in the back pocket of my jeans, and began walking on swift long strides towards the humanities building.
In my head, I was screaming excitedly as I got closer to the fountain where I'd been asked to wait for further instructions.
Axel sure knew how to drive a girl batshit crazy, and I loved every second of it, so damn much.
Minutes after I had arrived at the fountain, a sleek black car with tinted windows pulled up and came to a halt beside me.
I bent over and squinted trying to see if anyone familiar was sitting inside. Almost abruptly, the driver's door opened to reveal a well-built man dressed as a chauffeur.
On instinct, he curtseyed to greet me and I just stared blankly in confusion at him as he rose from the little bow to face me.
"I'm Devin ma'am, I've been asked to bring you to a surprise location, your comfort, and safety will be my utmost priority the entire ride" he maintained eye contact with me as he spoke to show he was
confident.
"Why would I get in a random car, Devin?" I asked sarcastically.
"Boss said you'd know you could trust me with this.." he then gave me a rose that looked identical to the one I'd received with the note from Axel, they must be from the same bunch.
I smelt them and the same familiar heavenly scent hit my nose and I was certain the rose flower was from my thoughtful Axel.
"Let's go then?" I flashed Devin a small smile trying to hide my tripling excitement, I was over the moon thinking of what the next Axel had planned.
Devin opened the door to the back seat and I thanked him as I got in and he shut it behind me.
I took a deep breath as the car started and I leaned into the chair, my heart beating unusually fast in anticipation of what was to come.
Axel made my life seem like an unpredictable movie and I loved every bit of it, and as the car drove out of the school, my thoughts remained on him.
What did the rest of the day hold? I didn't care as long as I could spend them in his arms.
