Chapter 20 19. Mi Amor

Chapter 20 19. Mi Amor
CHAPTER 19

Mi Amor

If there's a saying that your partner is a reflection of you, then it seems to apply to Beck and Sophie.
That's what Charlotte had in mind when she communicated with Beck's girlfriend. All the places recommended by Charlotte are rejected by Sophie on the grounds that they are not to her taste, even though her choices are classy places. Charlotte became increasingly curious as to what Beck's arrogant girlfriend looked like.
Charlotte knocked on Beck's study door and immediately entered the room even though Beck's gaze seemed to greet her stiffly. She was used to being treated by that damn man who looked at her as if she was the enemy just because she was considered 'her mother's person' even though she and Lucy had also just gotten to know each other because her mother forced her to become a secretary in a company that was not that big.
"Well, Sir. I think the matter of choosing the venue for your girlfriend's birthday...," Charlotte said after she sat properly in the chair opposite Beck.
Beck looked at Charlotte, his gaze clearly full of desire, but he was still able to control his common sense. He rubbed his chin several times with the tips of his fingers.
"Something like that you can't handle?"
"Your girlfriend rejected all the cafes I recommended," Charlotte said quickly, hiding that she was furious about a job that was not her job desk.
Beck looked at Charlotte intensely and frowned. He reached for the cell phone lying in front of him while his eyes were still on Charlotte.
Charlotte clearly knew that Beck often looked at her with a look as if he wanted to strip her naked, but she didn't bother. After all, a man like Beck was not her criteria at all, Beck was not comparable to her.
He was beneath her, not worthy of her.
"Honey, my secretary sent some recommendations for places for your birthday, is there anything that suits your taste?" Beck asked, his tone full of affection.
Charlotte chuckled in her mind, how could that annoying stiff man be so sweet on the phone.
"Oh, alright. You can choose yourself then, which cafe you choose later let me know. Okay?" said Beck again, this time his voice less sweet and his gaze sharply directed at Charlotte.
Beck ended his conversation with Sophie, he cleared his throat. "You can't slander Sophie just because you're my mom's person," he said, his tone very cold.
"What?" Charlotte gasped at Beck's accusation, which attacked her mercilessly.
"Don't pretend." Beck didn't seem to be messing around. "You're no different from Vanilla."
"Vanilla?"
Beck waved his hand in front of his face. To him, his mother, Vanilla, and Charlotte were all the same. They conspired to separate him from Sophie. "Don't try to destroy my relationship with Sophie even if my mom asks you to, or...." Beck looked sarcastically at Charlotte. "I'll teach you a lesson."
Charlotte was not one to give up easily, let alone be viciously slandered by someone she had never even met. She returned Beck's sardonic gaze. "I don't understand your lover's taste, maybe my taste is too high."
"How can you judge when you only give one choice?"
Bitch!
What's one option? She gave her a dozen options of the best cafes in Barcelona. And choosing a place was time-consuming enough to delay her secretarial work.
Charlotte really wanted to meet the woman called Sophie to assess how she looked. If she's worthy, she'll compete even with the most cunning ways to get Beck. However, if Sophie turns out to be beneath her, she doesn't need the energy to beat the bitch back.
Even if she has to lower her standards. She was determined to get Beck, make him beg, have him spread his legs for her and then kick him away to avenge the insolence of those two arrogant people, think of it as killing two birds with one stone.
Sophie had to know that she wasn't that easy to get rid of, let alone in such a cheap way. And as for Vanilla, although she didn't know her personally, she was sure that Vanilla was just as unfortunate as she was, if not more so.
I will help take revenge for you, Vanilla.
A man like Beck doesn't deserve anyone, he was blinded by Sophie. That's how Charlotte sees it.
And you, Sophie, just watch. Your game will be over soon enough.
"Well, I think it's best that Sophie chooses her own cafe," Charlotte said, trying to be as calm as possible.
Beck narrowed his eyes. "She can do it herself."
Why not from the beginning? Idiot!
"Alright, I think that's enough. I need to get on with my work," Charlotte said. "Feel free to contact me if you need any help."
Beck smiled wryly as Charlotte said goodbye from his office, his eyes staring at Charlotte's ass which seemed to sway as she walked.

"You don't have to exert yourself," Xaviera said while arranging her favorite daughter's hair.
"Do I look pathetic?" asked Vanilla sourly.
How could it not be pathetic? Beck had texted Sophie a birthday invitation, and he'd also told her that he was going to propose to her tonight.
She could have just not come because Sophie's birthday and her former rival's engagement to Beck were not important and had nothing to do with her. After all, tomorrow is the grand opening of her restaurant which means it's a very busy and long day tomorrow. However, Beck would be even more arrogant to think that she was a helpless heartbroken girl. The defeated girl who couldn't watch Beck get engaged to Sophie.
"Look, no matter what happens you have to stay calm. After all, Nick is with you, right?" Xaviera looked worried, even as she continued to do her daughter's hair.
Vanilla nodded. She was with Nick, at least she didn't look pathetic in Beck's eyes. However, Beck's emotions were sometimes unpredictable if another man approached her. She didn't want to make a mess because it was certain that Nick would also not feel comfortable if Beck made trouble. He also has to maintain an attitude so that Nick is not offended, the slightest bit he is moody then Nick will think that she still expects Beck.
In fact, he didn't expect Beck at all anymore. Everything had been destroyed along with the insult that Beck had thrown directly at him.
"I can take it easy, Mom," Vanilla said, her tone quiet, but reassuring.
"Not only that, Sweetie. You should also be able to behave yourself."
"Mom, I've never been disrespectful."
Xaviera kissed Vanilla's temple. "I know, I raised you well."
Vanilla smiled. "You're the best, Mom."
Xaviera smiled softly, full of happiness. "Well, you look very beautiful." She looked satisfied as she gazed at her daughter's reflection in the mirror.
"I feel lucky to have inherited your beauty," Vanilla said, wrinkling her nose.
Xaviera rubbed Vanilla's shoulders. "Don't let Nick wait too long for you," she said.
Vanilla grinned. "He's even willing to wait three months for me."
"We'll see, hopefully he won't get sick of it."
The two laughed together and stepped out of Vanilla's room, passing through the half-circular staircase in the center of the living room where Nick was waiting for Vanilla. The man's eyes softly gazed at Vanilla with unadulterated admiration, his lips turned up in a smile as if he was satisfied with Vanilla's charming appearance. Too charming.
"Oh my God, you're so beautiful." Nick's compliment simply slipped from his lips.
Like a teenage girl who had just experienced first love, Vanilla was taken aback. She bit her lip while her eyes glanced at her mother shyly.
"Nick, I entrust you with my daughter. Take care of her," Xaviera said.
Nick removed his right hand from his chest, he bowed respectfully. "It's an honor, I'll take care of your daughter like a Prince takes care of a Princess," he said to Xaviera, "my princess, come on."
Nick extended his hand up and was greeted by Vanilla.
"Mi amor," he said while landing a small peck on Vanilla's fingers.
Mi amor = My love.
