Chapter 118
Chapter 118
Frank's expression shifted as he asked, "What deal?"
The woman pointed at the vial on the table. "About this."
Frank lost his patience at her words. He said in a low voice, "Please leave. Now."
The woman's smile froze on her face. She said in disbelief, "You're not even going to ask what this vial is? You're just kicking me out?"
She'd done plenty of business deals, but none as difficult as this guy.
"I don't need to guess what it is. You people came to me for one thing - to get those kids back. Is there anything else?"
He tried hard to hide the disgust in his eyes. This woman couldn't have any incidents here. The Starship Group had been trending on social media quite a bit these past few days. Even though everything was clarified in the end, it still had some impact on the corporation.
As the heir to the Starship Group, Frank had to consider more than just his personal preferences.
So he needed to make sure this woman walked out of this building in one piece.
"Please." Frank's patience was running out.
The woman said, "Don't be in such a hurry to kick me out. Hear me out first."
"If you hand over those kids, I can not only give you the serum you want, but I can also give you ten percent of the profits. And you can do whatever you want with me. How about it?" The woman brushed her hair off her shoulder, leaned forward slightly, and deliberately winked at Frank.
Frank turned his head away in disgust and said, "You've been pushed to this point, willing to use seduction to make a deal. Looks like you didn't get much out of that family power struggle."
The woman's body stiffened. She bit her teeth, stood up, and walked out with swaying hips.
The man beside her followed closely, glancing at Frank before leaving.
"If you won't cooperate, fine! I don't even care!"
After watching the woman leave, Frank immediately called Noah.
"Dig up everything on that man and woman. I suspect that woman was just here to test me. The real person in charge is that man beside her."
He felt the woman was just a pawn pushed forward. How could a real noble lady act like that?
Besides, with the Sarris family in such danger, even if these two had lost the inheritance battle, they shouldn't be here. He felt there must be some secret behind all this.
Half an hour later, information on both the man and woman was sent to Frank's communicator.
He read through it carefully, a knowing look flashing in his eyes. He'd guessed right - that man wasn't a bodyguard, but someone from the Sarris family.
The two were siblings. The woman was actually a fringe member of the family, acting as the man's proxy, handling certain matters when it was inconvenient for him to appear.
Frank tossed his communicator aside and sneered, "Just a coward. Too afraid to show his face, scared of being targeted, I bet."
Meanwhile, in a room with nothing but a table and two chairs, two people in black robes and hoods sat facing each other.
The room had no windows, only one dim light.
An androgynous voice let out a long sigh.
"Such a simple task given to you, and this is how you handle it. You almost brought down the entire family. What a waste!"
The other figure slowly lowered their head. After a long moment, they squeezed out a sentence from their throat: "Give me one more chance."
The voice was hoarse, pleading.
The room fell silent. After a while, the androgynous voice spoke again.
"Fine, I'll give you one more chance. I hope you won't disappoint me next time."
With that, the person stood up and walked toward the door.
The person left in the room slowly removed their hood, revealing a seductive face.
It was unmistakably the woman from the Sarris family who had appeared in Frank's office.
She clenched her fists tightly, bit her back teeth, and said, "Damn it, why did all the useful people have to die!"
She whistled, and a large man pushed open the door and walked in.
"We can start making our move." A glimmer of darkness flashed in the woman's eyes.
"Yes." The man nodded and walked out.
At eight o'clock in the evening, Frank had just finished dinner when he received a call from Quinn.
He pressed the answer button. From the other end, Quinn's voice, tinged with urgency, reached his ears.
"Frank, I'm afraid we don't have much time left to investigate that industrial park Milo mentioned."
Quinn was speaking in a suppressed voice, sounding muffled, as if struggling to breathe.
Frank found the sound uncomfortable. He frowned slightly and said, "Explain clearly."
"I don't know how to describe it. Milo is right here with me. Let me have him talk to you, okay?"
Frank agreed, and rustling sounds came from the other end.
Before long, the scattered sounds disappeared, replaced by Milo's voice with a hint of tears.
"Frank, I heard those voices again. This time they're even clearer than last time."
Milo's voice was trembling. Frank frowned slightly and gently guided him with a question: "Did you hear what they were saying?"
Frank walked to the sofa, leaned against the backrest, and quietly listened to the voice on the other end.
"They... they're crying." Milo swallowed. "And someone's calling for help. Besides these children's voices, I also heard roaring like some kind of beast. I... I don't know what's making that sound..."
Frank listened quietly to what Milo said, comforted him with a few words, then asked him to give the communicator back to Quinn.
He switched to video call, and Quinn's image appeared in mid-air.
"Quinn, can you strengthen the electromagnetic shielding room?"
Logically, Milo had already been placed in the electromagnetic shielding room and shouldn't be hearing these sounds anymore.
"The electromagnetic shielding room doesn't work for him anymore." Quinn smiled bitterly.
"I suspect it's because of the serum injected into his body - it's allowing him to receive signals like some kind of hive consciousness."
And all of this was far too cruel for this child.
Frank's brow furrowed deeply as he said in a low voice, "Looks like we have no choice but to investigate that industrial park."
They hadn't fully figured out the situation at the industrial park yet, but to stop Milo's suffering, he had to go. He didn't want to watch a perfectly good kid be driven insane by the voices in his head.
"I'll send you a simple map in a bit. Milo drew it, but it's very abstract. You might not be able to understand it."
After Quinn ended the call, he sent over an image.
Frank stared at the image for three minutes, his expression hard to describe.
A few crooked circles, a wavy line, and a box framing all of it made up the picture.
He looked at the specially marked point, somewhat puzzled.
Milo had drawn it well - it's just that he and Milo didn't have much of a connection, so he really couldn't figure it out.
