Derek's POV
We walk back to our mate's room, and Liam looks at me, and I sigh. I know I'm being harsh, but she wanted to ruin my relationship with my mate.
"Yes, I know me saying she needs to die was harsh but deserved. She would go after Anna if she could. Hell, what if Anna walked in instead of Liam?
"Do you think death for her is right?" He looks conflicted again, like we should rehabilitate her nasty ass.
"Liam, what if Anna walked in on that instead of you? Do you really think she would have just said, "Oh well, I'm doing my job"? She tried to get my cock to get hard so she could suck it and take pics and send them to our pregnant mate. Plus, let's not forget she said Anna is hated by some members. "I'm still trying not to call a meeting and alphabetize who it is."
"I know; I just wish my members weren't being so fucking disloyal. It seems all the ones against us and her are from my pack," he sighs, shoulders sagging. "When will it get better?" He looks defeated. We all stop, and Victor and I place hands on his shoulders. "Soon," I say, watching him as he nods sadly.
"We got this, Alpha, and not a lot of us are against you. We know what Ellie did, and all of us didn't turn our backs. We never will be your great leaders." He smiled then looked away, uncomfortable, as we both looked at him, surprised. I mean, he is originally from Liam's pack, as is his brother Vince; both have been loyal to us from the start.
"Thank you, Victor." Liam grasps his shoulder. "I appreciate you guys more than you will ever know; you stick by me through a lot of shit." He looks better but is still sad. I know it is a lot to take in, but we have to be strong and precise with this shit.
"So back to Anna, she will be due in a month; we have to get her a nursery ready, and I think a baby shower or private party just for her." I look at them; they look surprised, and it is actually really funny because I, an alpha, want to surprise our mate. Victor chuckles while Liam nods excitedly.
"I was thinking we could get a house built so we get privacy for us and the kids, maybe something beside the pack house or attached, maybe our own private wing that needs a code to enter," he goes on, and I, for one, love the ideas he got.
"You know, I was thinking that we have a lot of pack members, so getting our own house seems the logical thing to do, but we would need guards for Anna and our kids. I don't want to take chances; I just want our family happy and safe. That is all I want, but if we keep getting attacked and having pack members turn, we will never find peace.
"Dude, we need to sit down with the contractors and have our ideas put into blueprints. Think we can keep it a secret so we can surprise our mate." He looks at me smiling, and I nod and smile back. I can't wait to surprise her with a better house; we haven't even stayed in the one I had built for me and her that long; we've been in the pack house due to rogue attacks and threats. I think we got maybe a month in there before Liam and his cute pup joined our family; the house wasn't big enough.
"Yes, that sounds good because the house I had built isn't big enough, and we all need a huge space for our growing family. I think a mansion type would be good," I grin at him. Victor chuckles as Liam looks even more excited over this and has a bounce to his step.
Before we get to her room, warriors run up and tell us the rogues attacked and an all-out fight is taking place, and we rush out to join. We will fight right beside our fighters and warriors because that is what alphas do. I give orders as we run because this shit needs to end right now.
"Put guards on Anna; keep Vince with her." Make sure the prisoners are kept locked up and get the elders and kids to the safety room. "I am not taking chances as we join the battle. Liam and I shift and start fighting. Rogues seem to keep pouring in as more warriors join the fight. I even notice some pack members helping because it is getting brutal.
"Let's end this; just kill. Don't take prisoners; just kill," I order, and we do, and by the time it is done, we have hundreds of dead rogues all over our land. We shift back to our human forms and look around; it is a fucking mess. The rogues didn't care one bit who they tried to attack; they just attacked, and the house I had built for Anna and me is burnt down. Liam is hurt, and we carry him to the infirmary.
"Anna," he mumbles. "Is Anna okay?" He seems out of it, but blood loss does that.
"Yeah, bro, our mate is okay; we need to get you some medical help. Just relax," I say, looking at him and feeling scared. I help support his body weight as we drag him to see the doctor.
"Alpha, the doctor runs up looking scared and stressed. Luna went into early labor, and we had to C-section the pups out. Both are fine in the NICU. Anna is sedated and resting. Vince is with her. I feel my world shift, but Victor barks at me to get it together.
"Alpha, none of that. She is safe, and so are your pups. My brother was there, and you know he cares a lot about her, so let's get Liam fixed up and see your pups." He snaps me out of my panic.
"Shit," I grumble. "Yes, thanks, Victor. I needed that." He just nods, and we lead Liam to a room, and I hurry to my mate. She is sleeping peacefully, and I worry for our girls; she has a month to go. Will they be okay, or will we lose them? I kiss her head as I look her over.
Vince is sitting there looking shocked but happy.
"They were so tiny, Alpha, but absolutely beautiful; they looked like Luna. Both are fighters and doing well. I watched them be born." He looks up as tears fall, and I hug him.
"Thanks for being here for her. I can't thank you enough, Victor. Just thank you for not running away when this happened; she needed someone," he said, hugging back, patting me, and getting himself together.
"Anytime, Alpha, anytime," he sniffed, wiped his face, and stood up straighter. Our girls are here a month early.
