Chapter 60 The Wedding

Chapter 60 The Wedding
Children nestled in her embrace, chatting happily as Eva drifted into thoughts.
By embracing this day, Eva finally admitted, both to herself and the world, just how deeply she craved to belong and to find peace.
For a long time, Eva had been troubled by fears—that she would always feel like an outsider, that happiness would always be just beyond her reach, that she was too broken to be loved as she was.
But as sunlight filtered through the garden and laughter floated in the air, relief settled in her chest, gentle and astonishing.
Eva let herself hope, and she dared to believe in a future shaped by love.
Now, she stood on the edge of the life she had always dreamed of, surrounded by real love and the hope of lasting happiness.
Joy and gratitude mingled with disbelief: at last, she had found a place where she belonged, and someone to share her heart with, without fear.

The garden had been transformed.
White roses and lilies hung from arbors and trellises. Their gentle scent drifted on the breeze.
Chairs draped in ivory fabric lined the aisle, which was strewn with petals that touched the grass. A string quartet played quietly from a gazebo decorated with plants and fairy lights. Their music drifted through the peaceful morning air.
The scene was beautiful and felt perfect, just as Eva had always hoped. This moment was everything she had imagined and wished for.
Eva waited at the garden entrance, holding her bouquet and hidden among flowering bushes. Her heart beat fast as the right moment came. She stood ready for her father to walk her down the aisle.
The gentle rustle of leaves mixed with the far-off music of the quartet. Eva breathed in the sweet smell of roses and freshly cut grass, the cool morning air lightly touching her skin.
Eva wore a simple, elegant silk gown that flowed over her figure. She smoothed the fabric with shaking hands and caught her reflection in the window, giving herself a soft smile.
The dress's simple shape showed her slim legs, not to impress anyone, but because it made her feel like herself. For the first time, Eva saw herself clearly, free from what others expected her to be.
Eva's father, Richard, appeared quietly beside her, looking distinguished in his formal suit. His eyes shone with happiness.
"You look beautiful, Eva," he said softly. "If your mother saw you, she would be so proud."
Eva smiled sadly, "I wish she could be here."
"She is within you, in your heart. She is always with you, watching over you in spirit." Richard took her arm. "Now, it's time to meet your love. Are you ready?"
Eva looked out at the garden, seeing the guests waiting, Adrian standing at the altar, and Lily and Ethan in their places, ready for their roles.
This was her family, gathered to witness her new beginning, and with them by her side, she prepared to take the first steps toward her future as the ceremony began.
"I'm ready."
The music changed, and the wedding march began.
Eva and Richard stepped forward into view.
Everyone turned to look at her, but Eva saw only one person—Adrian, waiting at the end of the aisle, his face full of wonder and love.
She walked toward him, each step bringing her closer to the life she had chosen, fought for, and truly deserved.
The wedding ceremony went by quickly with vows, ring exchanges, and tears. Eva spoke the words she had prepared, her voice steady even as emotion filled her chest:
"Adrian, we met by chance—an accidental encounter that changed everything. When you entered my life, I was broken, afraid of everything and everyone around me. Deep down, I truly believed I didn't deserve anything."
"That I would never feel safe again, never trust anyone again, and never fall in love again. But… you. You proved me wrong."
"Not with grand gestures or dramatic rescues, though there were plenty of those, but with patience. Through your endurance, you melted my heart."
"You came into my life like a fresh breath of air. Now I feel like I could not live a single minute without you by my side. And I am sure you would stay with me, no matter what."
"You came into my life and brought back my children's father. You gave me back my sense of self. You gave me hope when I had none left.
"I don't know what the future will bring. I don't know what problems we'll face or who we'll have to fight. But I know this: with you by my side, I can face anything.
"I love you. And I choose you. I'll choose you today and every day, for the rest of our lives."
Tears ran down her cheeks, and many in the crowd wiped their eyes. Adrian gently wiped Eva's tears, took her hand, and began his own vows.
Adrian's response was just as moving, his voice thick with emotion:
"Eva, you once asked me why I stayed away from you for seven years. The truth is, I had many chances to come back to you, but I hesitated. I was scared. Scared that I had already lost you. Scared that I had failed you so much that you could never forgive me."
"After the accident, when I realized how much danger my choices had brought upon me, I realized I could implicate your family. I thought staying away was the only way to keep you safe. I convinced myself that your lives would be better without me near, that I could only bring more pain if I returned."
"But you are so gentle and kind, you forgave me. More than that, you welcomed me into your life, your family, and your heart. You gave me a chance I didn't deserve.
"I spent seven years watching you from the shadows, loving you from a distance, hating myself for leaving you. Those years showed me that what I really wanted was not power, not success, or the empire my father built.
"What I wanted was you. I wanted our children and a home full of laughter and love, not silence and duty.
"Today, by saying yes to my proposal, you are making that dream real. And I promise I will spend every day of my life being worthy of your trust."
"I promise I'll love you for the rest of my life."
Adrian leaned in and kissed Eva on the forehead.
Afterward, Ethan held the ring tray and stood beside them. Eva and Adrian each took a ring and placed it on the other's finger. When the officiant said, 'You may kiss your bride,' they shared a kiss that drew cheers from the guests.
When the officiant declared them husband and wife, Eva felt something settle inside her.
It was more than happiness; it was a sense of being complete. She felt the emptiness in her life was finally filled.
She was now Eva Cavanaugh.
Nothing would ever be the same again.
