Chapter 208 A Heart of Ice, A Soul of Frost

"Stop it!"

Susan suddenly snapped back to her senses. She rushed forward and stood in front of Freya, lifting her face and glaring at Kirk as she cursed, "You bastard! You hit her so hard—are you trying to kill our daughter?"

Kirk squeezed out a sentence through gritted teeth, "I wish she had never been born. She's nothing but trouble."

He was furious to the extreme, veins bulging on his forehead, his face flushed red like a piece of heated iron.

He said through clenched teeth, "If you protect her, I'll beat you too."

Susan trembled with anger. She said through gritted teeth, "You've hit her, you've yelled at her—can you beat or yell the company shares back?"

Kirk replied coldly, "At least I've vented some of my anger."

His expression was gloomy, and he looked at the mother and daughter as if they were his enemies.

That look made Susan's heart tighten.

Her voice trembled, "Stop hitting Freya. If you ruin her face, how will she face people in the future?"

She took a deep breath, "I'll go beg Jane, beg her to let us off the hook. Terrence listens to her—he'll definitely back down."

Kirk stared at her and said, "You'd better pray that Terrence will show mercy, otherwise... Freya will marry that old man Tobias tomorrow."

"No, I won't!" Freya protested, covering her burning, painful cheek.

Tobias was old enough to be her father, and he had several irresponsible children at home... She didn't want to marry into such a messy family. She only wanted to marry Terrence.

From the moment she secretly fell for him, that had been her only wish.

Freya frantically grabbed Susan's arm, shaking her head repeatedly, "Mom, I won't marry him. I'm not going to marry that old creep..."

"Don't be afraid." Susan held her tight, comforting her firmly, "As long as I'm alive, I won't let you marry that old man."

Freya buried herself in Susan's shoulder and sobbed.

Her crying irritated Kirk.

He shouted impatiently, "All you do is cry, you unlucky thing!"

As soon as Freya heard his voice, her crying stopped immediately. She didn't dare make another sound and could only cry silently.

Susan's expression darkened.

Only now did she realize she had underestimated Terrence. She had thought that she and Freya had arranged everything perfectly, but they were still found out. Without saying a word, he struck back, showing no mercy at all.

After all, they were family.

That bastard was cold-blooded to this extent...

At ten in the morning, Susan quickly got ready and rushed to the Thornton family estate.

As soon as she reached the entrance, she was stopped by the guard.

Susan's face darkened, her anger instantly ignited, "What are you doing?"

The guard's attitude was businesslike, "Mrs. Wells, who are you here to see?"

Susan said through gritted teeth, "I'm here to see my sister Jane. Move aside and let me in."

The guard still didn't budge, "I'm sorry, Mrs. Wells, Mrs. Thornton isn't home right now. She went out."

Susan asked, suppressing her anger, "Where did she go?"

The guard's tone was flat, "Mrs. Thornton's schedule isn't something someone like me can ask about."

Susan suspected Jane was hiding at home and didn't want to see her. Trembling with anger, she had no choice but to return to her car and take out her phone to call Jane.

The phone rang several times before it was answered.

Susan took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing her anger and softening her voice, "Jane, you're not home right now?"

"Yeah, I'm out."

Susan was stunned, finding it hard to accept, "Where are you? I'll come find you."

"I'm at..."

After hearing the location Jane gave, Susan's face immediately turned ugly, her tone becoming heavy, "Why did you go so far away?"

On the other end of the phone, Jane's voice was calm, "I've wanted to travel here for a long time, but I was always worried about Terrence's love life. Now that he has a girlfriend, I finally feel a bit relieved, and it's time I enjoyed life a little."

She added briefly, "I have to go now, I'm about to board the island."

With that, Jane hung up directly.

Early that morning, Terrence had sent her a message telling her to go away for a few days to avoid the situation and have some peace and quiet.

Only then did Jane learn about what happened online.

She hadn't expected this mother-daughter pair to be so vicious, actually trying to ruin Eleanor's reputation...

The Wells family really needed to be taught a lesson.

With this thought, she immediately called Terrence, "Terrence, you guessed right. Susan did come to the estate looking for me. But I didn't give her a chance to talk—I just hung up on her."

Terrence chuckled, "Mom, you did well."

Jane breathed a sigh of relief, "By the way, those two won't give up easily. You can stay away a few more days before coming back."

She added seriously, "You don't need to save face for me—do what needs to be done. These idiots have no idea who they're messing with. They've already crossed the line with our family, and they need to be taught a lesson."

"Yeah, I know what to do." Terrence narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in them.

Thinking of her future daughter-in-law, Jane couldn't help but remind him, "Spend some quality time with Eleanor these few days."

"Mom, I will."

Even if she hadn't reminded him, he would have done so.

Terrence thought about last night—they had almost... If she hadn't gotten her period just then, they probably would have already had sex.

Just thinking about it made his body react. He took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing that urge.

"Mom, I have to go. I have a video conference in a bit."

"Okay, go ahead with your work."

After the call ended, Terrence stood up from his chair and quickly walked out of the study, heading straight back to the master bedroom.

On the large bed, Eleanor was sleeping peacefully.

He walked over quietly and sat down on the edge of the bed, his gaze unwilling to leave her. He gently traced his finger over her delicate, beautiful features, as if sketching her face stroke by stroke.

Having her within arm's reach felt so good.

Eleanor opened her eyes, "Are you done with work?"

Her voice was husky from just waking up.

"Did I wake you?" Terrence looked a bit apologetic.

"No." Eleanor shook her head, "I woke up a while ago, I just wanted to stay in bed a bit longer."

She had known the moment he pushed the door open.

Terrence's shoulders relaxed. He leaned down and kissed her forehead, expressing his love in a low voice, "Eleanor, I love you."

"Me too." Eleanor smiled softly, placing her hand in his broad, warm palm.

Terrence held her soft hand tightly.

"Does your stomach still hurt?"

"A little bit."

The past few days her flow had been heavy, and her lower abdomen had been aching constantly.

If it hadn't been for that ginger tea last night, she probably would have been curled up in bed shivering with pain by now.

That ginger tea had really helped.

As soon as she drank it, she felt her lower abdomen gradually warming up, and the cramping pain slowly easing.

"I just made more ginger tea. You should drink some more in a bit." As Terrence spoke, he lifted her from the bed.

Eleanor quickly wrapped her arms around his neck, afraid she might fall.

After a moment, they reached the bathroom.

Terrence gently set her down. There was a soft, thick rug on the floor.

"Go ahead and freshen up."

"Okay." Eleanor obediently finished washing up, changed to a clean pad, and then walked out of the bathroom.

When she looked up, she found that Terrence was no longer in the room.

There was a knock at the door.
