Chapter 20
"C-Chase, I-I—"
"Isa. Did you really think I wouldn’t find out?" he asked in a disbelief manner, voice becoming lower and rougher, a slight of annoyance clearly evident.
"Y-You k-knew…?" he heard his girlfriend's trembling voice as she spoke the words and Chase could already picture the shaking body of his lover making him sigh heavily.
"Yes. I knew. Isabella, I know you’re trying to get closer to my mom, my family, that's why you're with her right now. In grandma's house too, not to mention," Chase felt his heart becoming lighter at the confrontation they were finally having as he continued, "Babe, you know you don't have to do that. At least not behind my back. I don't like the idea of you lying or hiding things from me. You could spend time with my family anytime you want. You know that, right, baby?"
He heard soft gasps like someone was trying to hold their breath from the other line then and he thought for a second maybe he had been a little too harsh to his sweetheart. "I'm sorry for sounding too harsh, I was just mad. I'm sorry, baby."
"Chase…"
"Shh, it's okay now. I'm not mad anymore. Just…Just make sure you'll be here by tomorrow. I won't take a no. You need to compensate with the days you were gone just because of this plan you made, okay?…I miss you. I miss you so much, Isabella." And it was true. As much as Chase felt upset knowing his lover just lied to him, his longing for the other was larger and in so much need of attention at the moment. So, despite having an uncomfortable feeling after knowing such revelation, Chase demanded what his heart wanted. It longed to see Isabella as much and as soon as possible. It badly wanted to be with her.
"Okay, I will.…I miss you more, Chase, I miss you so much." This time Chase listened to his girlfriend's voice with a smile, thinking everything had settled down, finally giving Chase's mind the peace he needed.
The following day, his girlfriend arrived at Chase's flat, fulfilling just what she had promised to the sulking man.
Chase welcomed her gladly with open arms, wrapping his lover in a very tight hug and started to shower her kisses on her face, conveying all the longing he had felt the past days.
"I really missed you a lot, baby," he softly whispered as his fingers started to stroke Isabella's hair in a tender way Chase knew Isabella loved a lot.
Chase felt Isabella smile as she snuggled closer to Chase's chest. Her arms wrapped around his waist and tightened.
"I missed you more, Chase…and I'm sorry for w-what happened," Isabella whispered back, face hiding in Chase's embrace, clearly wanting anything but for Chase to see her face.
Chase moved his hand from Isabella's soft locks down to her chin, carefully tilting it up so he could see the face he adored too much.
"Just don't lie to me again. Can you promise me that?" Chase's voice was so soft as he asked his beloved, his gaze meeting Isabella's and it made Chase's heart melt. Isabella was looking at him with so much love in her eyes Chase could stare at it for years without getting bored. Getting bored was impossible though, he knew since day one that he completely wouldn't and couldn't get enough of Isabella. Being with Isabella only proved to him he will never be able to do so.
Instead of answering Chase's plea, Isabella tiptoed, pulling Chase down as she captured Chase's lips. She softly whispered countless I love you’s. Chase tightened his embrace of Isabella, whispering the magic words back to his lover. Chase knew then it was Isabella's way of letting him know she'd never do anything that might hurt Chase. And Chase trusted Isabella.
He always would.
