Chapter 33

Alexandra:

It only takes an hour to get through all of the male traitors’ punishments. That just leaves the female.

“Are you sure you want to do this?” Teddy asks, a little worried, but there is no changing Blaine’s mind.

“Yes. Alexandra has done nothing but help our pack—even when we weren’t trying to help ourselves. I can’t forgive someone for trying to hurt her.”

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t touched by what Blaine said. I’m also a little disappointed that I won’t be the one to enact the punishment.

“You’ll tell me what to do, right?” Blaine looks at Teddy, who turns beet red in a matter of seconds. He does nod his head, though, to let him know that he will help him.

I nod and go to take off her pants and underwear so that her lower half is exposed for the procedure. Blaine quickly looks away, disgusted.

“Eww. That’s what vaginas look like? No offense, Alexandra, but it’s disgusting.” Even Cassie can’t help but laugh at what he said.

“You sure you still want to do this?” I ask him.

He takes a few big breaths while looking away before turning back. “Yes, I’m ready.”

*****

“Good job.” Blaine beams at the praise from Teddy when the deed is done. They are so cute it’s disgusting sometimes.

Blaine gets up and stretches. “Okay, I never want to see another vagina in my life.”

“Agreed,” Teddy says. He seems to feel a little bad for her, but he is the only one.

“Good. All the punishments have been delivered,” V says, and it makes me jump. When did he get behind me?

I turn around to see that he literally is right behind me. Before he can say anything, Blaine chimed in, “Since we're done, Teddy and I are leaving. I’ll send him home in a few days.” Teddy seems to have been taken off guard. He looks between Blaine and V, but V doesn’t object.

In an instant, Teddy is off his feet and in Blaine’s arms as he walks towards the pack house. “We can finally have our second date without other people.” He flashes a megawatt smile, and Teddy can’t help but smile back.

“Alexandra, Smiley told us that she tried to inject you with something.”

I nod my head. Talking to V isn’t my strong suit.

He pulls out the syringe. He puts it in a bag and holds it out to one of the warriors. “Get this to Dr. Billings asap.”

“Yes, Alpha.” He quickly takes the syringe and leaves. Cassie passes him as she makes her way towards me and V.

“We will have him find out exactly what was in there. It’s better to know what type of weapons they are trying to use against us.” It isn’t shocking that V and Cassie want Dr. Billings to find out what exactly was in the syringe, but I really want to have an idea of what it was too.

I am waiting for him to answer when his warm voice rings from the phone. “Alexandra, my dear. What is it that I can do for you?”

“Well, Dr. Billings, we had a situation. A wolf tried to inject me with something they claimed was a tranquilizer, and I’m wondering what it could be,” I quickly shoot off, wanting an answer so we can get back to matters here.

“They probably made a mix of medetomidine and ketamine. Works for wolves with side effects, so they probably assumed it would work on werewolves as well. However, werewolves metabolize drugs differently than wolves and humans, so it would have had little to no effect at all.” That puts me at ease.

I thank Dr. Billings before hanging up and looking back at V and Cassie. “He said it wouldn’t have had any effect if it was indeed a tranquilizer.”

V just nods his head, “We will make sure it truly was a tranquilizer then.”

I smirk as I nod to V. I learned a while ago not to argue with him. Everyone learns that. Well, except for Cassie. As if she heard what I thought, she quickly interjects herself into the conversation.

“So, about this vampire hunt, who all is coming?” she asks, super excited, but that excitement quickly disappears as a huge arm wraps around her waist and pulls her back.

“Not you.”

Cassie whines and pouts as she looks up at V. “Why not? I want to go. Boss will come with me, so it should be fine.”

V shakes his head in response. “I know you can handle a vampire, but who’s going to finish all the projects you've started while you're gone? Sending the mates to college for roles that are helpful to the pack, setting up a family registry system that connects all the divisions, not to mention the humane interrogation you prefer?” she looks around and sighs.

It's funny hearing that she prefers to use her gift to get information than to torture. There are moments when she is fully on board with the way V handles things and others when she is a softie, just like Mason.

I watch them bicker back and forth for a while before I finally decide to step in. “I can help. I was planning on trying to learn from Dr. Billings while going to school to become our pack doctor.” I stop when I see everyone staring at me. “Of course, if that's okay with you guys.”

Cassie smiles so big I think her face will split in two. “That’s a great idea. You’ll be an amazing doctor. See, V? Alexandra can do it, and we trust her, so...please!” she drags out the 'please' like an annoying child would.

It's easy to see that V is thinking about it. Brett goes over to talk to him before they call over Boss and Greggor. More talking occurs that we can’t hear. It’s a talent to be able to speak that low when they can just mindlink.

Brett and Greggor break away from the group with a chuckle while looking at Cassie. “That’s the first time you didn’t try to listen in.”

“Is that why you didn’t mindlink?” I see that Cassie has learned to impede on V’s mindlinks, even if she isn’t originally included.

“Exactly,” V says as he walks up to her with a sigh. “You can go”—Cassie starts to celebrate—“but you have to check in with me every six hours, and if there is any trouble at all, you let me know.” Cassie agrees, jumping up and giving all the guys a hug.

It doesn’t take her long to refocus on the task at hand. “So, we have Greggor, Boss, me, and who else?”

Caleb steps up, and I expect Mason to object, but he doesn’t. Cassie smirks. “Sorry, of course you’ll come. I’m more asking who is going to escort you.” No one else comes forward.

Cassie looks at Mason, confused. “You’re going to let him go alone?”

“He’s not alone. He’s with you guys.”

Cassie can’t help but beam as she walks over and grabs Caleb by the arm. “And you’re in great hands. We are going to have so much fun.”

Caleb looks at me, a little worried, but I just nod in their direction. “She will help you get the answers you need.” I’m sure Cassie will be a lot for him since he’s used to people avoiding him, but I’m sure it will be good for him.

After Cassie drags Caleb away, the rest of the hunting party follows behind. I look over to Nick. “Thanks for all your help and for putting up with the training for Mason.”

“Sadly, I think I needed it too. I think it’s safe to say that our packs will be able to agree on a treaty now. I’ll expect a visit from you soon.” I nod my head, and the rest of the Blue Moon pack follows him back to their territory.

All that's left is the Night Stalker pack, which I’m sure is waiting on me. I agreed to take Cassie’s place while she helps Caleb, but it will be my first time being this far away from Mason. Even when he went up Denali in Alaska, I felt sad. This will be even worse.

As if he can feel my anxiety, he closes the distance between us and wraps me up in his arms. “Don’t worry. I’m sure Cassie will be anxious to get back to V. You really think a vampire can outrun her and her gift?” Although I agree with what he said, it doesn’t make me feel better.

I know I have to get over this separation anxiety if I'm going to study and learn to become our pack doctor. Sadly, it isn’t helping me right now. He places soft pecks all over the top of my head before he lets his hold on me go. “Alright, time to go learn some things.”

Quickly, I pull him down so I can place my lips on his. If he thinks those head kisses are enough, he's mistaken. After we finish kissing, I walk over to my warriors. “Hey, you guys be good. No slacking off because I’m not here. Remember that Paul is in charge and punishment will be waiting for anyone who doesn’t stay in line. Understood?”

“Yes, Luna,” they all shout in unison. I hear Brett and Smiley snicker in the background. I quickly walk up to them as they try to hold in their laughter. “You got a problem?”

“No, Luna,” they force out before they burst into a fit of laughter. I look over at V, who doesn’t seem amused by the situation.

“Varkekkeum su ossocd? (Permission to beat them?)”

“Gromsad (Granted),” V answers quickly, and both of them stop laughing and start to run.

“Don’t you run from me!” I shout as I follow after them.

Chasing after them, I realize that we really dodged a bullet because they came to help, and even though the threat of Aiden is still out there, I will cherish these moments. When we are all here, healthy, and can forget, even if just for a moment, that we are at war.

I am eternally grateful to the insane co-Beta of my old pack for walking into the packhouse and hand-picking me for the wild journey we have been on together.

Mae rimo, sromd aeui. (My Luna, I thank you.)
