Chapter 591 The Situation Is Somewhat Dire

Chapter 591 The Situation Is Somewhat Dire

I did it on purpose to show Cecilia. One Willow was already hard enough to deal with, and if I got tangled up with her too, I'd really be exhausted.

Aidan saw me walking toward Willow's car and shrugged.

After seeing this, Cecilia got into Cecil's car without saying a word.

I opened the door and got in, complaining to Willow: "Everyone knows I'm close with Aidan and would naturally ride in his car. But when you honked, you put me in an awkward position."

Willow started the car and glanced at me: "I honked first, okay? Besides, you could have chosen to get in his car."

"Forget it. You both honked at the same time. If I got in his car, wouldn't that make you lose face? The problem is he has a sports car and you have a sedan. Getting in your car in front of so many people—if rumors start spreading, don't blame me."

"You'd probably love for rumors to spread, wouldn't you?"

I smiled ambiguously without saying anything.

"Also, didn't I tell you to stay away from Emily and Sophia? Why are you hanging out with them again?"

"Didn't you see the two male classmates next to me? That guy Gavin is chasing Emily, Kyle is chasing Sophia, and they're both my middle school classmates. It's totally normal for us to eat lunch together."

"Are you guys blind? That Kyle is actually chasing Sophia—haven't you noticed that during breaks, someone picks her up in a car?"

I smiled slightly: "What does that prove? People might be saying behind your back: knowing that both Emily and Sophia like me, how could someone as smart and proper as you fall for me?"

Willow glared at me: "Who says I've fallen for you?"

"Hey, watch the road—there are lots of people."

Willow drove with a gloomy face for a while, then suddenly warned me: "Nolan, remember this—don't talk about my business behind my back!"

"Is there any business between us?"

"Are you trying to annoy me on purpose?"

"Drive, drive. Careful, careful."

Soon we arrived at the hospital. After Willow parked, I was about to get out when she suddenly said: "Come to my house again this Saturday."

I froze: "What, are you moving furniture again?"

Willow stared at me: "Are you coming or not?"

"Don't be so fierce. I'll go, okay?"

"Let me tell you, don't think just anyone can come and go from my house. You're the first boy I've ever invited in my life—show some appreciation!"

Of course I appreciated it. That's exactly why I found it troublesome.

"Ms. Reed, you've misunderstood. It's not that I don't want to go to your house, it's just that your whole family are police officers—that's a lot of pressure!"

"I think I told you what you should call me when we're alone together?"

"Willow, Willow."

Willow opened the door to get out. I reminded her: "Don't look so gloomy. Smile a little. If people see us, who knows what they'll think happened in the car."

After getting out, Willow immediately put on a bright smile. Though since she was usually so serious, to others her smile probably didn't look much different from no smile at all. But I could tell—she was smiling.

The dozen or so of us student leaders took two elevators upstairs—National Youth Association officers in one, student council officers in the other.

Actually, in my heart I'd long considered myself a student council officer, but because I came in Willow's car, I had to take the elevator with the National Youth Association officers.

The distinction was clear. Whether going up or down, the student council officers were laughing and joking around, while the National Youth Association officers seemed particularly serious and solemn.

We were all students—I really couldn't understand why there was such a big difference.

Our visit wasn't like teachers visiting—some even giving money. After all, we were all students, so we basically bought fruit, drinks, and flowers. When we entered, everything was spread out all over—it looked really lively.

Since Cecil had called Bob before we came, Bob also rushed over. What I worried about most was that during the visit, Chloe would treat me noticeably different from the other classmates.

But Chloe didn't do that. She was warmer toward the upperclassmen Cecil, Aidan, Willow, and Cecilia. Instead, Bob stood by my side the whole time, showing his gratitude toward me.

The caregiver then called me outside and said somewhat embarrassed: "That Amelia brought you lunch at noon. When she saw you weren't here, she insisted I eat it. I didn't expect you'd come again."

I smiled: "I already told her on the phone that I'd eaten."

"That's good, that's good!" The caregiver looked at me with a strange expression and said hesitantly: "I don't know if you've noticed, but today Chloe's attitude toward her husband has changed quite a bit, and his attitude toward her is also much better than before."

They were husband and wife to begin with—what was so noteworthy about them being nicer to each other?

This showed the caregiver had noticed the relationship between Chloe and me, just pretending not to know. Today, seeing the big improvement in their marriage, she was probably kindly trying to hint at something.

I smiled: "A while ago, because of the child issue and the vengeful spirit on Chloe, there was some distance between them. After the exorcist performed the ritual, everything got better. It's normal for their relationship to improve."

The caregiver nodded, not saying more. But I was still grateful to her. Her reminder made me understand that if you don't want others to know your secrets, you shouldn't have done it in the first place.

It's really hard to find a fool these days. Whatever you do, it's hard to escape everyone's eyes. This made me feel even more that my choice was right.

Since we had afternoon classes, we didn't stay long at the hospital and headed back to school. As soon as I got back to the classroom, I received a message from Cecilia: [7:30 tonight, Love Garden.]

Wasn't this an obvious hint?

Normally, she could have just said to meet at the lawn behind their dorm, or at the lawn where we met last time, right?

Love Garden—that was what Willow told me last time. Now Cecilia was using this name to ask me out—her intentions seemed pretty clear!

I felt confused. What exactly was going on between Cecilia and Dennis? Otherwise, why would Cecilia be pursuing me so persistently?
