Chapter 54 054

Chapter 54 054
STEVEN

Oh my my!

My heart raced and at some point, I felt it skip a beat or two.

“Uhm, Dad…why not come over here?” I spoke hurriedly. Pointing to the other couch that had the table directly in front of it.

“Wow…are you presenting a full portfolio to me? This must be really serious than I thought!” He said with a loud tone.

I chuckled in pretense and stylishly sat on the other couch, slipping the pack into my back pocket.

“Okay, so where is it, son?”

“Oh yes, this is it, Dad…” I said, standing up to show him the table opened on my laptop.

He scoffed at the first glance. “Are you trying to test me or what is this in front of me?”

He blurted out angrily.

“How do you mean, father? This is the business investment I was talking about. I and the other guy are pushing into it so I am damn serious,” I answered him confidently.

He scoffed out even louder than the first time. “Haven't you been learning anything all these while? You mean you can’t tell when something is forged and an obvious scam?!” He exclaimed.

“Uhn? Did you just say scam?” I shouted.

“Steven….look at this very well…..this is not real…no market share would have its markings above this point and yet still look for investors. This is the bait meant to draw you in!!”

“Oh my gracious God...please tell me you haven't put actual money into this rubbish!” My father lashed out.

Geez! Foolish me!

“Have you????”

My heart shook, “No, father…just about to…the window is opening tonight and we were planning to go all in,” I replied.

He laughed out, “I didn't train you to be stupid...you need to know these things, boy. Never allow anyone deceive you with things like this…when you get your own company, even your own staffs can come to you with things like this, you can choose to buy into the scam or get your head out of it!!” He said.

Damn….What if Dad never showed up? Just what if?

I could have fallen into a goddamn pit of debt!!

Without further hesitation, I texted Frederick not to make any move yet about the investment that I had urgent information from him.

“I can't thank you enough, Dad,” I said as we hugged it out.

That moment with my Dad would always be golden to me. It was safe to say it had set the pace for my growth in business knowledge.

“Boss, you aren't saying anything?” Douglas's voice snapped out of my deep thoughts.

I scoffed. “Douglas….what am I looking at?”

“Boss, its the problem and also the solution to the stocks we are losing for the Grand Scheme, sir,” Douglas said.

“Hmmmm…..why is it all of that?” I asked.

“Boss…we are at a loss and we need to find something to patch it all up. I made some findings and this seems to be something that could help us back up. We can't allow the public know we lost one of our….”

“Hold it right there…the public isn't knowing about anything or are you releasing information to them about that?” I interrupted.

“Oh no no, boss. I wouldn't do that. I'm only saying we should take the quick action before….’

I scoffed out loudly at his words and he paused.

“This right here is not the solution.  What you are looking at is another mistake we should dare to make!” I spoke further.

“Its a trap and I am not falling for it, Douglas!”

“But sir, the market…..”

“Enough already! Would that be all?”

He nodded in response……..”Good, now call the young man outside for me.”

I saw the look on Douglas's face as he walked out but I ignored it….I could tell he wasn't happy with my response but I had learnt a lot to be swayed by a cheap scam.

Jonas walked in few minutes ago…with a smile on his face.

Weird.

“Is everything alright? You seemed to be suddenly happy?” I asked out of curiosity.

“I just remembered how work was here before your father died. I must commend you, Sir Steven, you have some magnificent changes around here. Its excellent!!” He spoke, still with that wide smile around his lips.

“Hmm…..thank you. Now over to you, what do you think you can offer the Gold Company?”

“A lot sir but I am not here to be a staff in your company, Mr . Gold. What I have to offer is beyond staff duties,” he blurted out.

I paused. Does this man think I am my father who he could use sweet words to buy?

I deeply don't think I have any reason for him to work for me but his choice of words seem rather convincing.

If not a staff, then what?

“So what will you be doing particularly cause I am puzzled already???” I asked.

“Every big man has some dirty works underground and he needs someone who can carry them without compromising. I am that man. I was that man to your father…and I want to be that man to you as well if you would give me the chance to prove myself,” he explained.

“Dirty works, you say? Are you saying you did some bad things for my Dad whilst you worked for him? And what things are we talking about, Jonas?” I said, not minding if he was older than me or old enough to be my father.

“C'mon…I'm sure you have people disturbing your peace here or some mouths you really want to shut so bad…but you can't do that yourself cause of the fame and influence you control…..this is why you have people like me..”

“So as a bodyguard??” I interrupted.

“Bodyguard? Hell no, that is what you call that guy that drove us down here…I prefer to be called your Underground man,” he said.

“But I don't have anything dirty to hide or clean up so I don't think I would need your services, Jonas,” I answered with a straight face.

“Are you sure about that, Mr. Steven?”

“I am certain or do you have anything specific to say about that? I don't have any ‘dirty works’ so I don't need an Underground boy or whatever you called it!”

“Okay, but what do you call the lady who is pregnant for you?!”

What?

My eyes widened in surprise.

How did he know about…….??
