I became puzzled.

The last time this happen, it was no good and I bet this would be any different.

The look on her face was almost similar as the last time but something was really odd by this particular hour.

She seemed more disturbed than ever. However, I was glad I was able to distract her from our previous conversation. 

Even though I was still a bit disturbed by it.

“Kiki what's the issue?” I asked reluctantly. 

She paced around at first, doing her usual admiration of the anesthetics of the house.

It was her usual, call it a signature or whatever. If she never did that, she would probably be in a bad mood or worse.

“Did something happen again at the club? Or is this about me not being there with you, is there still talks about that, babes?” I asked.

But she kept mute…Some minutes later, she came and sat close to me, “Girl, it ain't any of that….the thing is…I need some money…the rent is almost up and you know how it is over there…” she explained.

“Wait, but I sent some money to you last week. Didn't you get it?” I replied.

“Pfff…that was used to sort some other things, not the rent. They were piled up bills so I had to settle all of that. But now I need it for the rent!” She spoke back.

I sighed out. I knew whatever she was saying didn't tally but who was I to question her?

She is not just a friend but my helper. If I wasn't with her, I never would have had thought of applying to work at the Gold Company and even meeting Steven…

“Uhmm…I would do something about it soon,” I answered.

She smiled so wide and threw a hug around me. That moment was always blissful for me. I was happy I was able to provide at least.

Times with her back then was really tough and much of a hustle. Most times, it would feel like we were going to die from the struggle but Kiki was always there to lift up the mood.

She was a hustler and I respected her for that.

That same minute, Thomas, Steven's bodyguard, appeared out of nowhere…

I raised my eyebrows at him, eager to hear what he has to say….”Erm….I came to know if you need anything, ma,” he stuttered.

A first time actually. He was always the active one but this afternoon seems either different like something was bothering or had spooked him.

“Is everything okay? I thought you would be with my husband….” I asked.

“Oh yes…but I came to get a file for him from the house and he asked me to check for you also…”

Whilst he was talking, his phone rang, “Oh its Mr. Gold calling,” he said like he was anticipating that already. 

“He wants to speak with you,” he said and handed the phone to him.

“Hello, dear,” I answered the phone.

“Hello. You need to do something right now, Sofia. It's quite necessary,” he spoke in a haste.

That same moment, Kiki was still around, touching every art and piece she could lay her hands around the house.

She had a thing for beautiful stuffs and art. “Babes, did you just put this here? It wasn't here the last time,” she shouted whilst I was still on the call.

“Who is there with you? Whose voice am I hearing with you?” Steven diverted from the previous conversation we were having.

“Uhm…I'm sorry..that was my friend, Kiki. She didn't tell me she was coming. She just got here actually,” I said in a defensive tone.

“You brought a man into my house??” He lashed out all of a sudden.

“No ooo…I didn't say a man..its Kiki, my best friend. I told you about her. She was here the last time. You can ask your bodyguard, he is looking at her right now,” I spoke in defense.

“Don’t think I'm just gonna believe all that so yeah, give the phone to Thomas,” he said in a loud tone over the call.

He spoke to Thomas and not long after, the phone was handed over to me again….

“Well, I don't know who that your friend is but it's okay. Now, back to the reason I called….” He started.

“Thomas is gonna give you some documents. I need you to sign them instantly. It's a lot of pages and I need everything signed by you right now and give it to him to bring back to the office…”

“It's important and urgent, Sofia. So do it now…and one more thing,” he added.

There was a pause…..”Hello?”

“I need you to sign those documents and don't do it the presence of your friend. I don't care if she is your best friend or not, just make sure you do it without her seeing you…so get rid of her already,” he said.

I almost snapped. 

How does a man whom I already know he's cheating on me feel so free to scold me as he likes?

I thought of voicing out and just letting him know that I already know all he is hiding from me but then again, my silence took the greater part of me and I kept mute instead.

“Do you get everything I said, Sofia?” His voice came aloud to my ears on the call.

“Yes…I will get right to it,” I answered. 

The call disconnected and I signaled to Kiki that minute….She was smart enough to know what I was trying to tell her..

“I hope I am gonna get what you promised, best friend,” she asked stylishly as she walked majestically to the front door.

I could see the look on Thomas's face. He was dumbfounded and trying to figure out what we were talking about but he just couldn't. 

“I will get it done before you know it,” I answered and winked at her.

The minute she walked out, Thomas brought out the documents. They looked heavy and full of jargons.

He placed them right in front of me and handed me a pen to start signing.

My eyes skimmed through the first page but I could hardly make sense of what I had just read.

Then my eyes suddenly landed on a sentence that really struck my attention.
