Taking Over

Taking Over

Alana's POV

First thing first, change of scenery. While our partners worked, I made sure my sister was distracted. We made visits to the park, then after a picnic, we headed for the beach. All that time they were setting up her private room for her for her treatment.

She knew something was wrong with her, but she was still showing up and cooperating. Sometimes we almost forgot about it, but somehow, it was always there.

After a fun day, we headed home to rest. Ryan had put dinner together and Gerald was staying over as per her commands.

The very next day, Ryan was hosting a very big event.

He was finally stepping on the seat as the new overall CEO of his father's company. He had been planning this for months as he had equally been planning for his own perfume business so now he was done unveiling that, it was time to step in. The Kelsey empire that originally belonged to his mother, he got it back.

He was so emotional when I woke up and saw him, and I embraced him in a tight hug.

“Congratulations baby. I'm super proud of you.”

“This has to be one of the most beautiful days of my life. No matter what, I still can't believe it. My father is locked up for his wrong doing, and my mother is finally getting justice. I'm the luckiest man alive.”

He really looked like he felt lucky and I couldn't help but be proud of him.

“Or maybe it's just because you deserve it. What is luck? Irrelevant. Good things attract good people no matter what. Sure you're a bully, but you're kind to me now, and that's all that matters.”

He chuckled.

“You're so cute. Come on, let's get ready.” He gathered me in his arms and showered both of us. He has officially rendered me useless. I might have just forgotten how to even shower at this point as I never had to lift a finger to do anything.

We also got dressed together. I was wearing a peach beady dress and one look at it and I knew it had to be the most expensive outfit I had ever owned. Even though I had gotten used to the material lifestyle, I still knew I didn't want to know how much this dress cost. Ryan was the one that got it for me, and I didn't pay attention to it until now. As if he knew what was on my mind as I kept staring at the dress, he came behind me, wrapped his arms around my front and whispered in my ears.

“I promise I didn't go so overboard. And even if I did, it's because you deserve to be dressed in the best always and forever.”

I didn't trust him, but I melted into his touch and words as he teased my neck with his breath. I was almost tempted to drag him to bed to fuck me, even though we clearly didn't have time for that.

His event was about to start and we were still at home because we spent hours gisting, celebrating, singing and dancing in the bathroom instead of getting ready.

“Something tells me going overboard is an understatement. You know what? Don't tell me, I'll wear it and be happy in it. You're impossible.” I shook my head.

“Love you too, babe.” He kissed my hair and left me to get dressed too. He wore a dark green suit, didn't style his hair so he was looking boyish and handsome, and he smelled divine.

I wore the regal sparkling dress and I looked nothing less than a queen in it. I let my hair fall freely and wore transparent somewhat glass heels. When I began to do my makeup, he was just watching me from the mirror, fascinated. Until I wore the red lipstick, and watched his eyes darken until they were completely black.

“What?” I asked, turning to face him.

“Wearing blood red. I'm gonna ruin it, then you're going to fix it.”

“No.”

“Yes.” Just like that, he got on his knees, grabbed my chin softly and dragged my lips to his as I sat.

“I'm tempted to say you should use me as you please as you've successfully made me go on my knees like this, but maybe I shouldn't.”

“Maybe we should reserve that for later. You'll go on your knees again, it's cute.” I replied.

“I'll think about it.” He breathed against my mouth, his tongue caressing every corner of my throat until I couldn't breathe anymore. We had to stop fucking like wild animals, seriously.

He let go of me and I had to redo my lipstick. He waited for me like a perfect gentleman until I finished, then we headed out together.

Gerald and my sister were already ready. Crazy because I almost forgot about them even after I invited them myself.

I wasn't sure I wanted my sister out and about with her condition in front of important people that we might meet so it wouldn't start spreading as a rumor but Gerald promised to take care of her, and Ryan said I should leave my sister alone and focus on myself for once. I had a bad feeling about it, but I let it slide.

We headed to the venue, and it would actually be my first day in it. The building reeked of old money, and my mouth dropped as I looked at it.

So Ryan had grown up in such a place. This building seemed to have absolutely no ending, one where a human could actually get lost for many years. It was that big, and it was terrifying, as Ryan was all alone, even though he was surrounded by people.

Ryan however had different opinions, different views about the same building. He had been beaten in it. He had slept with his father's wife in it. He had the earliest memories with his mom in it.

I couldn't imagine how he must've been feeling but outwardly, he was handling it like a champ. His smile was big, and I was more than proud, so I did everything to hold back my tears because now was not the time to cry. It was time to celebrate!

I wrapped my hands in his so he would hold them for support as the full building finally came into view, and flashes of cameras assaulted both our faces.

As usual, paparazzi were all over us and it's from their mouths that I eventually found out the cost of my dress. Only two made in the entire world.

It cost a million dollars. Ryan had to be fucking kidding me. My mouth fell and I shot a subtle glare at my soon to be husband as I was asked, but I waved it off and pretended not to know. Ryan is in deep shit.

Is he kidding me? A million dollars for a dress? Now I was beyond pissed off. My sister and her boyfriend came in a different car, so they also had to deal with the paparazzi, but I made sure we entered quickly so as to avoid unreasonable questions.

Eventually we made it into the large building and even though we were here for the event, I was dying for a tour. Everything was vintage but grand and clearly expensive. The Kelsey empire was a force, and every staff at every level had something to offer.

They ushered us to the front, our king and queen seats as we faced the hall, but just at an angle, not directly opposite. It was supposed to be all about Ryan but obviously, he couldn't help but add me to the mix. He was awfully proud of me.

We settled in, and the event began. There was a lot to eat and drink, music to dance to, important people to greet and see but I was still using style to watch my sister from time to time.

She seemed really stable, and happy for some reason, and that made me finally lower my guard like I deserved to for once.
