Chapter 129: A New Dawn
Sun rose slowly over the beach, painting the sky in soft pink and gold. Gentle waves rolled onto the sand. A small arch of white flowers stood near the water’s edge.
Brielle stepped into the soft morning light, her dress fluttering around her ankles. She held Damian’s hand, heart fluttering with excitement. Today was their wedding day.
They had arranged a simple ceremony. Only their closest friends and Lira would attend. No cameras, no scandals, just the two of them and the sea.
Damian smiled as he saw her approach. Her hair was braided with tiny blooms. Her eyes shone like the sunrise. He felt as if his heart would burst.
She reached the arch and paused. He took a deep breath.
“You look perfect,” he said softly.
She laughed, a bright, happy sound. “You too.”
They turned to face Lira, who stood with a small bouquet in her hands. She nodded and said, “Whenever you’re ready.”
Damian lifted Brielle’s hand to his lips. “I promise to love you every day.”
She squeezed his hand. “I promise to stand by you, through calm and storm.”
They exchanged simple rings—silver bands that matched the first ones he gave her. The tide crept closer, lapping at their feet.
Lira pronounced them husband and wife. Brielle and Damian kissed, gentle and full of joy.
The sea breeze carried their laughter. No one else existed in that moment.
After the vows, they walked hand in hand along the shore. Their footprints trailed behind them, washed away by the next wave.
They sat on a driftwood log and shared a slice of cake Lira had baked. It was sweet and perfect, like their new life together.
Brielle rested her head on Damian’s shoulder. “I never thought I’d feel so… free.”
He kissed her hair. “You deserve all the freedom in the world.”
They planned a small reception back at Lira’s cottage. Music, dancing under string lights, and a bonfire on the beach. Friends would come later, but for now they savored the quiet.
As the day warmed, they changed into light clothes and wandered into the water, hand in hand. The cool waves made them laugh and cling closer.
When they emerged, they wrapped towels around each other and walked back to shore.
That evening, lanterns glowed in the garden. Lira greeted them with champagne. They toasted under the stars.
Music played softly. Brielle pulled Damian into a slow dance on the lawn. Their steps faltered only when they laughed.
Under the lights, they shared dreams. A small apartment in the city. A future painting studio for her. A writing desk for him. Quiet mornings with coffee and the webcam news long behind them.
They kissed as fireflies danced around.
Later, guests left, and the bonfire crackled. Brielle and Damian sat together, watching embers rise into the night.
He draped his arm around her. “This is our happy ever after.”
She snuggled closer. “Yes. Ours.”
They sat in silence, hearts full.
Far above, a single star glowed bright.
They held each other and watched it shine, knowing their love would guide them through every dawn to come.
