Chapter 739 Blank Notebook

Chapter 739 Blank Notebook

I furrowed my brow, feeling a bit worried. It was unusual for Asher to be unresponsive like this. I'd already called him three times, and he hadn't picked up once.

Could something have happened to him?

I quickly called my secretary, gave him a few tasks, and then headed to Asher's company to check on him.

When I arrived, I noticed a crowd gathered around Asher's office building. They didn't seem to be causing trouble, but it was still unusual.

I slipped in through a less crowded entrance and made my way straight to Asher's office. When I saw him sitting there, safe and sound, I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Caroline, what are you doing here?" Asher looked surprised to see me.

I touched my nose and glanced at him. "Why don't you check your phone?"

Asher pulled out his phone, pressed a few buttons, and then gave me an embarrassed smile. "I didn't realize it was off. Did you call me just now?"

I nodded. "I thought something might have happened to you. I should have tried calling your assistant."

Renee's warning from yesterday had me on edge.

Asher quickly got up and made me a cup of coffee. "It's my fault. I promise I won't let my phone die again."

"It's okay, I was just overreacting." I hesitated for a moment and then told Asher what Renee had said. "You should be careful for a while."

"Do you think they'll try to come after me again?" Asher snorted and gritted his teeth. "Haven't they done enough to ruin me?"

Asher had a criminal record because Brandon had framed him.

Just then, Asher finished making the coffee and placed it in front of me.

I sighed and looked at him. "Do you think people like that will ever admit they're wrong?"

Asher smirked. "You're right..."

"By the way, what's going on downstairs? Why are there so many people?"

I couldn't help but ask, remembering the scene from last time.

Asher nodded. "We bought that piece of land, and the amusement park is finally built. We're running some promotional events."

"But it's not officially open yet, right?" I asked, puzzled.

Asher nodded again. "Exactly. We're doing a beta test with a select group of people to see if there's anything we need to fix."

It was an unusual approach, but if something went wrong, it could cause a lot of negative publicity.

I shared my concerns with him.

Asher thought for a moment. "It should be fine. We'll have plenty of security, and everything has been thoroughly inspected."

"Just be careful. You never know who might try to cause trouble. But the beta test is a good idea," I said thoughtfully. "Just keep an eye on things and don't let anyone suspicious slip through."

Asher nodded. "By the way, did you need something?"

I nodded. "I wanted to check on our project. I didn't expect you to have such innovative ideas."

"Caroline, you don't know me well enough," Asher chuckled.

I smiled. "I guess I need to update my perception of you."

I stayed and chatted with Asher for a while before heading back to my own company.

As I approached the entrance, I noticed a group of familiar faces among the crowd. Just as I was about to get a closer look, they walked away, seemingly just passing by.

I didn't think much of it and drove off.

A few days later, Isadora brought some news.

"I found a notebook in Celestia's room," she said, handing it to me. "It was tucked into a crevice by the bed, like it was hidden in a hurry."

I frowned and opened it, but the pages were blank.

"There's nothing written in it. Could it just be an ordinary notebook?"

Isadora shook her head. "If it were just a regular notebook, why hide it in such a secretive place? It seems like she didn't want anyone to find it."

I had to admit, she had a point. Did Celestia know she was in danger?

I looked at Isadora, who seemed to share my thoughts.

"But how do we analyze blank pages?"

"I tried several methods—water, candlelight—but nothing appeared," Isadora sighed.

"So I thought I'd see if you had any other ideas."

I could only think of the methods Isadora had already tried. There was no point in repeating them.

"Should we consult a professional?"

Isadora shook her head. "I don't want too many people knowing about this notebook. My gut tells me it would only cause more trouble."

I thought it over. Isadora had a valid point. But solving this mystery on our own would take a lot of time, and there was no guarantee we'd succeed.

"If all else fails, we could tear out a page and have the paper analyzed. It shouldn't cause too much harm."

Isadora took the notebook and stared at it for a while before putting it back in her bag.

"I'll figure something out," she said, standing up.

I stood up too. "Are you leaving now?"

"I don't want to interrupt your work," Isadora said with a slight smile.

But I didn't feel like she was interrupting me.

"You don't seem to be in a good mood. Let me walk you back," I insisted, worried about her being alone.

Given her state, anything could happen on the way.

I understood her feelings. She and Celestia had been very close.

"No, I need some time alone," Isadora declined my offer. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine."

I opened my mouth but didn't know what to say.

Finally, I nodded. "Be careful. Call me if you need anything."
