Chapter 200: Acting

Chapter 200: Acting

After work, Ophelia went to the hospital to see William first. As soon as she pushed open the hospital room door, she saw that William had already changed out of his hospital gown and was sitting in a wheelchair waiting for her.

"Mike said I can go out for three hours. Walter invited me to dinner, and I heard he invited you, too. Let's go together."

Ophelia went to confirm with Mike, and only after making sure William could leave the hospital did she agree to let him go out.

Outside the Johnson Villa, Tommy heard the sound of a car and walked out with his hands in his pockets. As soon as he saw William, his tone was full of mockery.

"A disabled person like you can actually come out?"

William ignored him and signaled the driver to get his wheelchair out, then sat down with the driver's help.

Seeing William's difficulty moving around, Tommy laughed even more happily.

"Really, a disabled person. Someone like you should just stay home. Not only are you inconveniencing others, but you're also making people uncomfortable."

Tommy never had much sense when speaking. He used to be cautious about the White family's influence, but after recent setbacks, he completely stopped caring.

After William settled in, he looked at Tommy coldly.

"I'm just temporarily inconvenienced, not too embarrassed to be seen in public. Unlike some people who, at their age, are still reckless and even produced illegitimate children. You've completely disgraced the Johnson family. Yet you still dare to show your face around here. When it comes to shamelessness, I really should learn from you."

Tommy was already upset about the scandal, and William's words made him so angry he couldn't speak. These recent events had made it hard for him to face his family with dignity.

He didn't actually want to see William. He only came out because he heard Walter was inviting William and his wife to dinner, just to watch the show.

Ophelia also got out of the car, holding a scarf. She walked to William's side and carefully wrapped the scarf around his neck.

"Be careful not to catch a cold."

She pushed William in front of Tommy.

"William is right. I really didn't expect your standards to be so low, and those two children of yours aren't particularly attractive either."

Tommy's face turned pale with anger. Just as he was about to fight back, he remembered Walter's instructions and could only hold back his anger, forcing an explanation.

"Those two children aren't mine, and you know it. What's the point of bringing this up here?"

Ophelia looked at him with a smile.

"Of course, there's a point. Isn't this exactly what you like to do?"

She was actually pointing out that Tommy liked to exploit people's embarrassing situations and talk about them.

Tommy clenched his teeth, his fingers turning white from gripping so hard, but he couldn't lash out. He knew that he couldn't beat William before, but now that William's health was poor, he might have a chance if he really fought. But if things got out of hand, today's business at home wouldn't work out.

Tommy knew very well that Walter had invited William and Ophelia because there was something important to discuss. So he could only curse them silently, then let them enter. He had only come out to watch the show and hadn't even put on his coat, so now he was quite cold.

Tommy went in first, with Ophelia pushing William behind him. As soon as they entered the main hall, she saw Emily sitting on the sofa watching TV.

Hearing movement at the door, Emily turned to look. Recognizing Ophelia and William, her face showed no expression, and she turned back to continue watching TV.

Emily had been in a bad mood lately. She hadn't even stayed home for Christmas, going abroad instead to relax. She had just returned last night, and Walter told her she had to be home today and required her to apologize to Ophelia.

Walter came out of his study. Seeing Ophelia and William, a hint of surprise appeared on his face.

"Mr. White, you're here too. Welcome, welcome."

Ophelia stood behind William and quietly poked his back.

William had said Walter invited him, but now it clearly wasn't the case. Awkward, wasn't it?

Walter enthusiastically greeted them both. "Don't just stand there, come sit down."

He looked at William's leg and asked tentatively, "Mr. White, have you been discharged?"

Walter knew that Vanguard Hospital had brought in many experts. Could William's leg already be healed?

William touched his own leg, his tone calm. "Not yet. I still have to go back tonight."

Just as he finished speaking, another person came down from upstairs, someone who surprised Ophelia.

Benjamin was holding a book and dressed very casually. As soon as he came downstairs, Emily excitedly ran over and took his arm. Without saying anything, she looked at Ophelia with a challenging gaze.

"Benjamin, you're here too."

William's expression stiffened a bit.

"Yes, came over on business. If Dad knew you could go out, he'd be very happy."

William didn't respond, and Walter quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

"Benjamin is young but very knowledgeable. I'm pleased and want to take this opportunity to have him teach Tommy. After all, we'll all be family in the future. Since everyone's here today, let's consider it a family dinner."

Ophelia found it amusing. Walter was really shameless. Benjamin and Emily weren't even married yet, and Walter was already treating him like a son-in-law.

Emily was now practically glued to Benjamin. Whenever Benjamin didn't pay attention to her, she would glare fiercely at Ophelia.

Ophelia thought Emily was being ridiculous. She had no interest in someone like Benjamin.

A slight pain came from her hand. Ophelia turned to look at William.

"What are you looking at so intently?"

William replied in a low voice, "Watching someone about to go crazy."

Ophelia said this close to William's ear, afraid that Emily might suddenly lash out.

Walter didn't notice their little interaction. After the last dish was ready, he called everyone to the table.

Emily and Tommy were born to Walter's two wives, both of whom had passed away. Their only elder was Walter. Walter personally served food to Ophelia.

"I specifically asked the chef. All the dishes today are safe for pregnant women to eat. You need to pay attention to balanced nutrition. Don't just eat vegetables. Here, have some meat."

He acted very caring, which made Ophelia feel a bit awkward.

But Walter was quite enjoying this role.

"Mr. White is also lucky to have a grandchild so soon, unlike these two in my family who only make me worry. Benjamin, you..."

Walter had wanted to bring up Benjamin and Emily's relationship, but he forgot he had just been talking about children, and Emily would never be able to have children in her lifetime.
