Chapter 182: Gregory Arrives

Chapter 182: Gregory Arrives

Ophelia's sudden intimacy caught William off guard. He froze for a moment, then quickly continued the conversation.

"He did say that, but with my current condition, I just can't remember you at all. To me, you're like a stranger. So after I get discharged, let's get divorced as soon as possible. Otherwise, I'll always feel uncomfortable."

Ophelia tilted her head and looked at him, asking seriously, "What exactly is wrong with you?"

William steeled himself, and his tone turned cold. "Think about it - why do I remember everything except you? Isn't it because you're not important to me at all, so it doesn't matter whether I remember you or not."

Ophelia took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down before speaking slowly. "I don't believe that. Maybe it's because you think I'm too important, so you deliberately forgot about me."

William's eyes widened, as if he wanted to argue. But Ophelia didn't give him a chance. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and William's head involuntarily lowered as she pulled him closer.

Ophelia kissed him, her voice gentle but firm. "Don't even think about divorce. I'm just going to treat this as you being sick and throwing a tantrum at me. Go to sleep now. We still need to arrange your hospital transfer tomorrow."

William's mind went blank. The lingering warmth on his lips made his heart race, but he still tried to push her away.

"Whether I transfer hospitals or not is my business. You have nothing to do with me now."

Ophelia frowned. She covered William's mouth with her hand. "Don't talk. I haven't slept well in days. I just want to rest now. Otherwise, I'll collapse from exhaustion before you even mention divorce."

The harsh words William was about to say got stuck in his throat.

Timothy had also told him about Ophelia's condition today. It was getting late - she really should rest.

In William's arms, Ophelia slept peacefully.

But William couldn't sleep at all. He looked at Ophelia's tired face with heartache, while worrying about her future.

He felt a lump in his throat, overwhelmed by helplessness and frustration. He didn't want Ophelia's life to be without him, but he also didn't want her future to be spent taking care of a disabled husband.

William really didn't know what to do.

The next morning, William still disagreed about the hospital transfer.

Right now, all he wanted was to slowly distance himself from Ophelia. If he transferred to the hospital where Eleanor worked, Ophelia would definitely visit him often. How could he push her away then?

"I don't agree."

William sat stubbornly on the bed, gripping the edge tightly with both hands.

Ophelia sat in her wheelchair, looking directly at him. "It doesn't matter if you agree or not. I'm still your wife, and you don't need to worry about the transfer."

Timothy was packing William's things nearby. He certainly hoped William would get better, so when Ophelia said there was a specialist at Vanguard Hospital who had cured similar cases, he immediately helped pack, completely ignoring William's earlier instructions.

Noticing William's gaze, Timothy pretended not to know anything. "I forgot to get something. You two talk first."

Timothy left on purpose. He knew William was stubborn - only Ophelia could persuade him.

Actually, Timothy didn't want to watch William sink into depression either. Now that Ophelia had found a solution, he naturally wanted to support it fully.

Privately, Timothy had also looked up Mike's background and was very confident about this treatment.

With Eleanor's arrangements, William completed the transfer procedures that same day. By afternoon, he was already lying in a hospital room at Vanguard Hospital.

Ophelia was also transferred over. She was worried about William and chose to stay by his side.

If William insisted on his way, probably no one could convince him.

Ophelia also needed a minor surgery. Since Eleanor had to rush off to a conference, she couldn't wait for Ophelia's surgery to finish. She could only give repeated instructions beforehand.

"This is just a minor surgery, don't worry. I have things to handle, but someone will take care of you. Don't worry too much about William either - Mike will let you know immediately if anything comes up."

Since the two weren't getting divorced after all, Eleanor was especially concerned about William's situation.

After giving these instructions, Eleanor prepared to leave. Just as she walked out the door, she ran into a middle-aged man with an anxious expression.

Eleanor already had a guess, and sure enough, she heard the man's urgent voice. "Ophelia!"

She immediately knew who it was.

Gregory rushed straight to Ophelia's hospital room as soon as he arrived. When he entered and saw Eleanor, he recognized her because he had met Eleanor before.

Gregory temporarily set aside his worry for Ophelia, adjusted his emotions, and spoke politely. "You must be Ophelia's grandmother, Eleanor Mitchell? I'm Gregory Kennedy."

Eleanor glanced at Ophelia on the bed, saw she was okay, then turned back and nodded in response. "Good that you're here. Take good care of her."

Eleanor still had urgent matters to handle. She didn't say much more and turned to leave.

Gregory watched Eleanor enter the elevator before turning back.

"Why did you come?" Ophelia spoke first.

Gregory quickly walked over and looked Ophelia over carefully. Confirming she had no major problems, though her face looked more gaunt than when they'd met in Sunrise City, his heart filled with concern.

"If Terry hadn't told me, you weren't planning to say anything, were you?"

Ophelia's tone was calm. "It's nothing serious, just..." She stopped mid-sentence, unwilling to discuss William's situation.

Gregory's eyes were full of worry and affection.

"William is a good kid. I wasn't too sure about him before, but this time, I think he's very responsible. I feel at ease leaving you with him."

After Terry told him the news, he immediately investigated the accident. When he learned what happened, his heart had nearly stopped. According to the investigation, if William hadn't shielded Ophelia, he might have lost his daughter.

Ophelia's expression dimmed. "But William, he..."
