Saving the Damsels in Distress?
Saving the Damsels in Distress?
Beanie
I grinned at the boys as the girls all bounded out of the house. Osprey patted me on the shoulder.
“It’s about time you two made up. I was seriously reconsidering not bossing her around,” he said, half jokingly and half seriously.
“Goddess, I missed her. I couldn’t go another day with her being furious at me. We should go before they get too far ahead of us.”
Osprey smirked at me as we walked out. “She was going to ask you to go before we left. Laura overheard some of the wolves plotting to attack Scarlett and Elena at the mall through the pack link. That’s why she made sure she was going to go, and that’s also why we were invited along. They want us close to take care of the bodies they leave behind.” He rolled his shoulders. “Elena and Laura want to kill them. I gave them permission.”
I stared at him in shock. “Wait, so they are still going to go? How many wolves are in on this?”
“Four. Between the two of them, they can handle four,” he replied as we got in the car.
“Two? Who would handle the wolves?”
“Scarlett. She doesn’t exactly know.”
“Why not?”
“Because when they mentioned wanting a girl’s day in the city, she freaked out. She didn’t like the idea of going into the city without me close by. If she knew there were going to be issues, she wouldn’t go at all,” Silver said angrily.
I crossed my arms over my chest. I was irritated that he even had the nerve to say anything about anything that concerned her. Silver was the reason all of this was happening to her.
“So, we go and let them handle it.”
Osprey grinned. “Yep. And then we get to clean up the mess. This will be good. It will show her she can handle living her life and be okay.”
I sighed. “Or this could terrify her and make her afraid to leave the house. Did you ever think about that?”
He remained quiet for a moment before nodding. “Yes.”
“So why risk it?”
“Because I know she can do this.”
“I hope you’re right. What are they even going into the city for?”
Osprey shrugged with a small smile on his lips. “From what I heard, Laura is picking up some new clothes, and Elena wants to pick up some books.”
“What about Scarlett?”
He chuckled. “She just wants a pretzel with that shitty, overprocessed cheese dip and girl time. Or at least that’s what they told us. I know why they are really going.”
“Why are they really going?” I asked curiously.
“They want to go to Maria's for stuff.”
I groaned as I immediately got hard. All the bears knew what kind of stuff was sold in her store.
“How do you know that?”’
“I might have eavesdropped on their conversations.”
Stu wound his window down. “Alright, now that we’re all horny…”
They laughed, and I turned to glare at Silver. “Should we be discussing this with him in the car?” I growled.
Osprey glanced at him in the rearview mirror. “He’s alright, Beanie. Scarlett wants him around, and we have already talked. Haven’t we, Silver?”
“Yes, Alpha Osprey.”
I stared at Silver in shock. Alright, then if he trusted Silver, I guess I would, too. Stu sighed.
“I hope Laura gets something that is see-through. Her body is perfect. I wouldn’t say no to some toys. Maybe some games,” he said dreamily.
Osprey laughed. “You got it bad, Stu.”
“Not as bad as you and Beanie. What do y’all hope your ladies get?”
“I wouldn’t say no to massage oils or those big ass feathers you’re supposed to tease your partner with. I would love to see her in a nurse costume,” I mused.
Osprey gagged. “That’s still my sister, dude.”
“Doesn’t keep you from mimicking my moans or hers, so shove that sentiment up your ass, dude!”
Stu burst out laughing, patting his shoulder. “He’s got you there, Osprey. So what do you want Scarlett to get?”
“Hmmm. I wouldn’t mind some costumes or something harder… I just want her to be comfortable with whatever she gets. I’m not going to put my fantasies on her yet.”
“What fantasies do you have?” Stu asked curiously.
“Well, when we have sex, I always have to keep Godric back. He wants to be rough and let pent up aggression out. We can’t do that with her yet.”
“She’ll get there, Osprey. She let Godric truly mate with her because Serena wanted it. She feels it, too. It’s part of your connection as the Alpha pair. Maybe she’ll surprise you.”
“Doubt it. It doesn’t really matter what she gets. I’m just glad that she’s open to exploring. It’s a lot of progress.”
I felt bad for him. I knew he hid his real feelings from Scarlett out of fear of scaring her, but I wished he wouldn’t. I felt like she was ready to at least talk about it, but she wasn’t my mate, so I was not going to say anything. I had watched their family almost self-destruct from them interfering with each other, and I refused to be part of the problem.
“So, what are we going to do while we’re waiting?” I asked as Osprey turned into the mall parking lot.
“I don’t know. Find a reason to stick close to them. There’s an antique store close to Maria’s.”
Stu rolled his eyes, gagging. “Do you really want to go to an antique store?”
“No,” Osprey said, cringing.
“There’s that new video game store. We can pretend like we play games,” I said.
The other three agreed quickly as Osprey parked before we all jumped out to head toward the video game store, slightly down from the sex store. As we drew closer, I picked up on our mates’ scents, making me relax. I didn’t like this plan of theirs at all. I wanted to punch all of them for their idiocy. There were so many things that could go wrong, and if we didn’t get to our women fast enough, we could lose them. Not even the excitement of what Elena might buy for the bedroom could curb my anxiety.
“Oi, this game looks fun. Maybe I’ll pick up video games,” Stu called out, holding up a football game.
I rolled my eyes as I picked up a traditional arcade game. “Bro, we play football. Do you really want to take that home and spend even more time on the game? Besides, I’d rather play with Elena than a controller.”
Osprey groaned from a few aisles away. “I agree with both of you. Just with Scarlett, not Elena. What if you found a game that Laura might like to play with you? I heard through the grapevine that she hates football.”
“She does? Well, fuck. We never talked about it.”
I chuckled. “You better start talking to her, Stu, before you have a litter of pups and not even know her last name.”
He paled. “Oh, Goddess. I actually don’t know her last name.”
Osprey laughed. “Geez, Stu, maybe she shouldn’t get anything fun so you can focus on more than her perfect body,” he teased.
“Shhh, guys. Here they come.”
We all ducked down so the girls wouldn’t see us as they walked by the store, only standing back up when their scents faded a little. I rolled my shoulders back.
“Please tell me that at some point we get to actually spend some time with our women and not hide like a bunch of stalkers.”
Osprey nodded. “Yeah. The wolves don’t know we’re here. So after we handle that situation, we can go be with them.”
I opened my mouth to respond, closing it back when my link with Elena opened.
‘HELP! EAST SIDE BATHROOMS! NOW! HURRY!’
I took off before saying anything to the others. I didn’t care if their mates had linked them or not. Mine had, and I was going to get to her, one way or the other. Osprey shot past me, and I was thankful for his Alpha blood. It made him faster than the rest of us. If he got there first, he could control the situation until the rest of us got there. I rounded the corner a few seconds after Osprey did and almost ran into him when he was stopped just inside of the turn. My eyes followed his gaze to the scene in front of us.
Scarlett stood protectively in front of Laura, who was bleeding, while Elena held a torn shirt up to her neck. Eleven wolves knelt on the ground in front of her with their heads down.
“What the fuck happened?” Stu growled as he dashed to Laura’s side.
Scarlett turned her head to look at Osprey. “I-I don’t know.”
Osprey calmly walked over to her to take her in his arms. “It’s okay, baby. Why don’t you go with the girls, okay? Beanie, Silver, and I will take care of this.” He kissed her softly. “You did well, Letti. I’m very proud of you.”
She hesitated before nodding. I watched in shock as Elena obediently followed her out of the hallway while Stu helped Laura after them. Osprey waited until they were out of sight before glaring at the wolves.
“On your fucking feet,” he ordered, his aura coming out to force them to comply.
He used his aura to guide them out of the nearest exit door while Silver and I kept pace.
“Okay, so you’re not going to tell us what happened?” I asked.
“Serena pulled on Godric’s aura. She was not going to let Scarlett get hurt. Not after they tried to slit Laura’s throat,” he hissed. “I’m so sick of these wolves targeting our sows.”
I nodded in agreement. “So, what are we going to do?”
“Kill them all. Tonight!” He said as we kept walking towards the small woods behind the mall. “Starting with these 11. That leaves 8, not including Silver.”
He made them stop once we got deep enough into the woods that none of the humans that lived near the mall would be able to hear or see anything that happened inside of it. I kicked the back of Blizzard’s knee in, making him crash into the ground, while Osprey and Silver forced the others to their knees. Osprey walked around to the front of the line to pace back and forth. I knew if I could sense his fury, so could everybody else. I leaned against the tree, waiting for orders. Osprey stopped pacing to glare at the wolves.
“Who cut Laura?” Nobody answered him, making him even more livid. He punched the closest wolf to him in the face, and the sickening sound of his nose breaking was the only sound in the area. “I SAID, ‘WHO CUT LAURA?’”
His aura blasting out more made my knees wobble. A terrified wolf raised his trembling hand.
“It was an accident. We were only supposed to scare them, I swear.”
Osprey walked over to him, punching him repeatedly as soon as he reached him, until he lost consciousness. Osprey’s lips lifted in a cold snarl.
“It won’t be so easy for the rest of you. He belongs to Stu. The rest of you belong to me.”
