Chapter 73 The Door to Higher Dimension

Sophia suddenly screamed, pointing to the corner of the room.

Following her finger, I saw a blood-red pattern slowly emerging on the floor.

It was a twisted human figure, with a giant eye in the center, the black pupil resembling Aubrey's psychology notes.

The blood-red pattern grew clearer and larger, almost covering the entire wall. The room's temperature dropped sharply, making me feel like I was in a freezer. I couldn't stop trembling, a chill running from my feet to my head.

"This is the 'door,' the door to a higher dimension!" Johnny's eyes were filled with a feverish excitement. He reached out, seemingly wanting to touch the blood-red pattern on the wall.

I kicked Johnny in the stomach, sending him flying.

Johnny let out a scream, crashing heavily to the ground and spitting blood. But he still crawled towards the pattern, undeterred.

Ignoring him, I quickly ran to Sophia and untied the ropes binding her.

"Let's go!" I grabbed Sophia's hand and we fled the room.

The blood-red pattern grew clearer, like a giant curtain, gradually enveloping Johnny.

The ground began to shake. I initially thought some monster was about to emerge, but upon closer listening, the sound was coming from the floor beneath us.

A flash of insight hit me, and I turned to look at Johnny.

His face showed a sickly fervor, his expression crazed.

"The real secret of 12 Love Street has appeared!" Johnny shouted hysterically. "It's the darkness hidden deep within this city, the key connecting the past and future!"

Before I could react, Johnny inexplicably passed out. Suddenly, a pitch-black passage to the underground appeared in the room, but we dared not make any rash moves.

We tied up Johnny and called for backup. After waiting for a while and seeing no further changes in the underground passage, we checked our guns and ammo, preparing for whatever lay ahead.

I took out a powerful flashlight and shone it into the passage, unable to see the end.

This must be the passage Johnny mentioned, leading to a higher dimension.

I gripped the flashlight tightly, illuminating the path ahead.

We were now in a narrow passage, the walls made of some unknown black stone, smooth and cold to the touch, giving a creepy feeling.

"Leonard, it's so cold here. I'm shaking all over," Sophia's voice trembled, her body shivering slightly.

"Hang in there, don't be afraid. I'll protect you," I reassured Sophia, quickening my pace.

The passage was long and kept descending. We walked for a long time without reaching the end.

I started to feel something was off. This passage seemed more like a maze, twisted and chaotic, designed to make people lose their way.

Suddenly, a light appeared ahead of us.

I felt a surge of energy, pulling Sophia along as we ran towards the light.

The closer we got to the light, the more sounds we heard.

When we finally emerged from the passage, I was stunned by the sight before me.

We had entered a massive underground space, not a basement but an underground city!

This city was entirely built of stone, ancient and mysterious in style. The city was lit by countless lamps, their glow not warm yellow but eerie green, casting an unsettling atmosphere over everything.

On the streets, people walked around, all wearing identical black mercenary uniforms and white masks. Their movements were stiff, expressions numb, like zombies. These robed figures were members of 'The Invisible Hand'!

This underground city had houses, streets, even shops and bars, like a whole other world.

"What is this place?" Sophia was stunned, mumbling in disbelief.

"This is their new world," I said gravely. "A world controlled by 'The Invisible Hand.'"

"Leonard, what do we do now?" Sophia asked nervously.

"First, we need to find Aubrey. According to Johnny, he should still be alive. I always thought they had some high-dimensional energy, but it turns out they're just playing tricks."

I decided to find Aubrey first. Only by capturing him could we uncover 'The Invisible Hand's' plot and find a way out of here.

We cautiously walked down the street, trying not to attract any attention.

"Leonard, look over there!" Sophia suddenly pointed ahead.

Following her direction, I saw a tall building at the end of the street, with a giant symbol hanging at the top. The symbol was a twisted human figure, with a giant eye in the center.

It was the same blood-red pattern we saw in room 1213.

"That must be 'The Invisible Hand's' headquarters," I said.

"Should we go there now?" Sophia asked.

"No, it's not the right time. We know nothing about this place. Acting rashly would be walking into a trap," I shook my head. "We need to understand the layout here and find the 'fake dead' Aubrey before making any plans."

"What do we do now?" Sophia asked.

"Follow me." I led Sophia into a bar.

The bar was dimly lit, filled with the strong smell of alcohol and tobacco.

Several people in black mercenary uniforms and white masks sat at the bar, drinking. Their movements were stiff, expressions numb, like they had no souls.

I found a spot in the corner of the bar and sat down with Sophia.

"What can I get you two?" A bartender in a black vest approached, his tone stiff.

"Two of your best drinks," I said.
