Chapter 27
Chapter 27
HECTOR
The rage inside me burns like a blazing inferno as I think of Hudson's heinous actions. The memory of him violating Aaliyah flashes before me, a searing image that makes my blood boil. He thought he could get away with it, but he is dead wrong.
An eye for an eye, a tit for tat. That's what he deserves. And I was going to make sure he pays for what he did. He had bitten off more than he could chew, and I was going to relish watching him choke on his own bile.
I could still feel the sting of his lies, his manipulations that had made me look like a fool in front of the Beta. But it was nothing compared to the pain he had caused Aaliyah. And now, he has his precious pets, Jim and Jay, by his side. He dotes on them like they were his own flesh and blood.
But that makes them the perfect targets. I could feel the weight of the vial in my pocket, the poison that could end their lives in an instant. But that is too easy, too quick. I want to see the pain in his eyes, the agony of losing something he loves.
The can of food is merely a ruse, a trick to get them out of their pen and into the open where I could make my move. As they emerge, I could feel my power surging through my veins, my claws growing longer and sharper with every passing moment.
Without warning, I shift completely into my wolf form, my fur standing on end as my eyes blaze crimson with rage. The pack had heard my growls and were gathering around, drawn by the sound of battle.
Jim and Jay were the first to react, but their actions were too little, too late. They lunge at me, hoping to take me down with brute force, but I was too quick for them. With lightning-fast reflexes, I dodge their attacks, snapping at them with my powerful jaws, and tearing at their skin with my razor-sharp claws.
Blood spattered across my fur, my claws stained red with the scent of victory
I am a predator, the apex predator, and nothing could stand in my way.
Without a moment's hesitation, I charge forward, my muscles rippling beneath my fur. The beast lunges at me, jaws gaping wide, but I was too fast. I dodge its attack with ease, my sharp teeth glinting in the sunlight.
As the creature stumbled past me, I leap onto its back, digging my claws into its flesh. It roars in pain, but I was undeterred. With a ferocious snarl, I sank my teeth into its neck, tearing away flesh and muscle with each savage bite.
Blood sprays in all directions as I pull away, the beast writhing in agony beneath me. But I was not finished yet. With a single leap, I launch myself toward my next target, Jim.
He revs towards me, but I am too quick. I release my grip on the dying creature beneath me and charge toward him with all my might. He lunge at me, but I was ready. I sink my claws deep into his stomach, ripping apart flesh and organs with each savage swipe.
With a final roar of fury, I sink my teeth into his rear, tearing away chunks of flesh and bone. He lands on the ground with a sickening thud, bleeding profusely as he writhes in agony.
Jay barks and yelps, his tail between his legs as I close in on him. I can smell the test on him from a mile away, and it only makes me angrier. I strike, but just as I'm about to pounce, Jay leaps at me, his claws tearing into my flesh.
I howl with rage, feeling the sting of his claws as I struggle to regain my footing. I charge forward once again, going for his neck with all my might. I sink my teeth in, biting deeper than before, and Jay crumples to the ground, a pool of blood forming around him.
As I stand there, panting and covered in blood, I can feel my body changing back to my original form. I watch as both pets bleed out, and my thirst for revenge is finally sated. I had gotten my pound of flesh, and now I await patiently Hudson’s arrival.
He arrives with a small group of people; I assume my growl and the dogs' continual barking attracted them.
He pauses in the middle, unsure whether to address Jim or Jay first. "What have you done?" he asks. His feeble voice carries pity and rage, which I could hear.
I must go above to earn their respect, so perhaps I shouldn't feel so horrible.
He is now standing next to Jay, pressing firmly to stop the bleeding by covering his bleeding neck with his hands. It whimpers, twitching as it takes its final breath, motionless after, as Jim's labored breath sends him falling to its side.
"No...Please stay with me." It won't be long before it becomes motionless.
He shrieks in fear and sticks out his claws. He dives, keeping me in view. The guards rush in to stop him, but he is restrained due to their number after biting and tearing at one of them.
"How dare you treat me like this?"
“You performed badly. My life might have been taken by your claws.”
"They will very soon." He cries as he struggles to get away.
“You go for my girl, it's amazing how much you complain about animals.”
“You're a coward” He howls. "What happens to facing me?"
"I choose to fight differently, but that doesn't make me any less of a warrior."
The guards wouldn't let go of him, increasing their pressure to keep him in place.
I stepped out of the shadows, watching as Hudson's eyes blazed with a fury I had never seen before. It was the kind of rage that burned hotter than the fires of battle, fuelled by a love for Jim and Jay that ran deep in his veins.
My gut churn with guilt.
But as the true alpha, I knew that my actions couldn't be dictated by my feelings. I couldn't afford to care about who got hurt in the process of achieving my goals. I had a job to do, and the lives of Jim and Jay were just collateral damage.
Hudson charged towards me, his muscles rippling with a strength that could take down an army. I braced myself for the impact, knowing that I had to hold my ground if I was to maintain my position as the alpha.
I switch off the light in my room, plunging it into darkness. The smell of dried blood clung to my clothes and skin, and the constant barking of Hudson's pets echoed in my head. I needed to clean up before I lost my mind completely.
I stumble into the bathroom, the tiles cold beneath my bare feet. Climbing into the bathtub, I turn on the shower to its fullest, the water pounding against my skin.
The blood washed off my face and down the drain, but I knew it wouldn't be enough to cleanse me of the guilt and horror I felt.
As the water washes away the evidence of my crime, I couldn't help but feel like I was slowly turning into a monster. I never wanted to be part of this pack, let alone be its heir. But fate had other plans for me, and I was powerless to stop it.
I took a deep breath and slipped into the cold water, feeling it soak through my clothes and chill my bones. The water is tainted with the blood of my prey. Was this the kind of alpha that Aaliyah wanted? One who was driven by primal instincts, who would attack pets more than his foe?
My mind races as I hold my breath and sank deeper into the water. I couldn't face Hudson, not because of his temper, but because of the shame that weighed heavily on my shoulders and Aaliyah because of my cowardice.
