Lucien Virell POV
The scent of blood and sulfur was intoxicating. The temple was nearly complete now, an unholy monument of obsidian and bone, dripping with crimson runes and defiled magic. The blood witches knelt in rows, their mouths sewn shut, their skin etched with symbols that pulsed with Raelith’s foul essence.
And at the heart of it....her altar. The Blood Throne.
As the final incantation was spoken, a rush of shadow surged through the chamber like a gust of icy smoke. The walls moaned with power. The temperature plummeted.
Then, I finally heard her voice. “I am regaining my strength…”
My lips curled in a delighted snarl. Fantastic news!
“Eleven more days… and I will be whole again.” She hissed softly.
I dropped to one knee before the throne, blood dripping from my fangs, a grotesque grin split across my perfect face. “What do you require, my queen?”
“Bring me sacrifices.”
As if on cue, the Lock entered from the side chamber, dragging in half a dozen cloaked cultists. All willing. All marked. All insane.
One by one, they knelt before the altar and slit their own throats with trembling hands, eyes wide and blissful as their blood painted the floor. Raelith drank it in with a soundless howl, her essence thickening in the shadows above the altar.
I watched and laughed with my head thrown back, savoring every second. But it wasn’t enough. I was restless.
It was never enough. I turned on my heel and stalked out of the chamber, boots echoing down the stone corridor as hunger curled low in my gut.
I needed a distraction. Something beautiful. Something defiant. Something mine.
The silver cage gleamed in the dark, tucked away in the private dungeon I had carved beneath my personal quarters. The room smelled of scorched metal, blood, and jasmine. Her scent.
My beautiful chosen crouched in the corner of the cage, wrists bound, breathing heavy. Her auburn waves clung to her face, soaked with sweat and defiance. Her golden brown eyes lifted to meet mine, and she was seething.
My mouth twitched into a twisted smirk. “Ahh… my flame. Still burning, I see.”
She didn’t respond. Not with words. She spat at me.
I chuckled, slow and low. “I do love your spirit. I wonder how long it’ll last.”
I stepped closer, brushing my fingers along the bars, watching her flinch as the silver pulsed against her skin. The cage was lined with it, forcing her wolf into submission, keeping her weak.
I slid the door open, already shivering in anticipation. She snarled, lunging, only for her body to seize violently as the silver chains constricted.
“Careful,” I purred, stepping inside like I was walking into a lover’s embrace. “Wouldn’t want to damage that pretty skin.”
She growled low in her throat. “Touch me and I’ll bite off your fucking fingers.”
I crouched before her, my crimson eyes glowing. I reached forward, slow and deliberate, brushing a curl from her cheek.
“You already belong to me,” I whispered. “You just haven’t realized it yet.”
Her scream echoed off the stone as she kicked, managing to land a blow against my thigh. I didn’t even flinch. Instead, i grinned wider, hunger burning in my gaze.
“Oh, yes… you’ll be perfect. Better than Vaela ever was.”
Her expression twisted with rage at the name. I saw it, felt it, and it made me euphoric. Pain, fury, resistance. It was delicious.
“You’ll learn to obey,” I said, voice silk over venom. “But don’t worry. I’ll enjoy every second of breaking you.” I leaned forward into her neck and took a deep breath, inhaling her scent. I growled low in my throat and pulled her flush to me, my cock hard and throbbing in my pants, begging to be set free. I rubbed myself against her as she struggled, trying to kick me. Her fighting spirit had me so turned on.
Her chains held firm and she screamed with rage as i trailed my fingers down the side of her naked, beautiful breast. I chucked softly, "Such a sinful body you have love. I shall delight in plundering it." I tweaked her taut nipple between my thumb and forefinger, squeezing hard enough to cause pain as I grinned at her wickedly. She gasped and spat in my face.
I watched the tears running down her face and sighed deeply, reveling in her suffering. She had stopped fighting, so I cupped both hands around those firm, large breasts, rubbing them gently as I continued to rub my throbbing cock against her thigh.
She whimpered softly and my cock jerked, straining against my pants. Then I shoved her hard, back into the cage and locked the door.
I stood there while she cowered in that cage, laughing at her. I unzipped my pants and pulled my large cock out and began to stroke it roughly as she stared at me with hatred. I shivered and stroked harder, imagining her lips around me. My release came swiftly and I stared into her eyes as I came all over the floor.
"Soon my pet. Soon." I whispered cruelly.
With one final look, I reached out, trailing a finger down her jaw. She recoiled, trembling from disgust at my touch. I just laughed. I then stood, turned and walked away. The door slammed.
And her scream followed me all the way up the stairs.
Noctara Velmira POV
I went still the moment the door slammed. Not frozen like prey, no, hollowed. Like something inside me cracked and leaked out onto the cold floor. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t scream. Couldn’t even breathe properly.
His scent still clung to the cage bars. That thing's voice still echoed in my bones like a poison hymn. His touch, light as it was, felt like oil I couldn’t scrape off. My skin itched with invisible filth. I would have ripped it off if I had claws to spare. But the silver burned, and my wrists were raw, and I was so fucking tired.
A single sob broke from my throat, sharp, unladylike, ragged.
“You are not broken,” Lynthra whispered in my head, her voice a low rumble in the emptiness. “You are fire. Caged, not extinguished.”
My hands curled into fists against the stone floor. The chains clinked with the motion, digging into my raw skin again. My chest heaved, and I felt the betrayal of hot tears racing down my cheeks, dripping onto the already stained ground beneath me.
“I hate him,” I rasped aloud, voice wrecked. “I hate him. I hate this. I want to rip his fucking heart out with my teeth.”
“And we will.”
I shook my head. “I need out. I need to scrub it off, Lynthra. I can still feel him on me.”
“You are more than this moment. Let the rage come later. For now… just survive. Let me hold the fire for you.”
Her voice was balm and blade, both. I curled tighter into myself, the chains pulling taut. My body trembled, but it wasn’t just fear. It was fury. Cold, simmering, promised fury.
“Moon Goddess,” I whispered through clenched teeth, “I don’t even know if you’re real… but if you are, if you’re anything more than some damn fairy tale…”
I bit down on a sob, sucking in a shaky breath. “Help me. I’m trying to fight. I want to fight, but I’m slipping. And I don’t want to die here. I won’t die in a fucking cage.”
The silence that answered was deafening. But I prayed anyway. I kept whispering the words over and over again until I couldn’t anymore. Until my tears soaked into the stone, and my voice broke into nothing.
Eventually, the cold became a blanket. Eventually, my breath evened. Eventually… I dreamed.
I dreamed of moonlight on water, and voices in the trees, and a blue eyed girl standing in fire, calling my name.
Elowen POV
I jolted upright with a strangled gasp, heart jackhammering against my ribs like it was trying to escape. My skin was slick with sweat, my hands clawing at the sheets like they could rip the nightmare away.
Her eyes. Gods… her eyes. Golden brown, wide with fury and despair, staring at me through bars soaked in blood and moonlight. The silver cage shimmered in the dream like it was alive, burning her skin every time she moved. She didn't scream. She never screamed. But I felt it. That scream was in me.
"El, it's okay, hey, hey, it's me." Daxon's voice sliced through the panic, his arms instantly wrapping around me, grounding me. His scent, pine and smoke and comfort, flooded my senses, but I couldn’t stop shaking.
"She's in a cage," I gasped, clawing at his chest like it was a lifeline. "A silver one. Her wrists, her face, gods, Daxon, she's in pain. I saw her. I felt her. We have to save her. We have to save her."
Lyssira howled in my mind, furious and panicked. “That was no dream. That was a soul call. Someone blessed by the moon cries out, and we hear.”
Daxon held me tighter, murmuring softly, rocking me slightly. "Shh, shh, I’ve got you. You're safe. She's not here, baby. You're in the keep. Just breathe with me, alright? In and out. You’re okay."
But I wasn’t. Not really. Because she wasn’t.
I curled into him as much as I could, my whole body still trembling. I couldn’t stop seeing her. Auburn waves matted with sweat and blood. Eyes that had seen too much. That knew too much. I didn’t even know her name, but she was screaming inside me like we were connected.
“We have to save her,” I whispered again, softer now, but no less urgent. “She’s mine. One of ours. I felt it.”
Daxon didn't question me. He never did when I spoke like that. He just kissed the top of my head and whispered, “We’ll find her. I promise. Sleep now, El. You need rest.”
But rest didn’t come easy. Even as sleep pulled me back under, my lips kept moving.
“We have to save her.”
