Chapter 15 Chapter Fifteen

Chapter 15 Chapter Fifteen
Brad pulls away, wiping a small smudge of my lipstick off my chin. "Have fun baby!" He smiles and I am completely speechless. I have never seen him this way. Maybe it's because there's a chance I will see Mateo tonight? I don't know.

"I'll see you in a little bit." I say, smiling at him as I climb out of the car. I walk to the entrance and the bouncer opens the door for me, I glance back one last time and Brad waves at me. I wave back giving him a genuine smile and he drives off.

I thank the bouncer and he nods, giving me a small wink. I smile as I walk inside. The engery is so captivating just like last time. Every single person here looks like they are having the best time of their lives. I want to be one of those people again. Maybe tonight I can feel that way again, even if it is just for a minute.

The music thumps loudly, people are talking, laughing, and dancing. Swaying to the music, drinks high in the air. I scan the room looking at all the faces. Hoping to see that one familiar face. I shouldn't care if he's here.

I can't help the pit of disappointment that forms in my belly when I don't see Malakai in the crowd. I head to the bar, I can at least have a drink. Something strong, with a nice burn. The bartender makes his way over to me giving me a devastatingly beautiful smile.

"What can I get you sweetheart?" He asks and I can't help but smile. I know he probably flirts with everyone, I mean half his salary is tips. I can't help but enjoy the attention though.

"Umm how about a shot of tequila?" I ask.

"Coming right up." It only takes him a minute to pour the shot. He pours himself one too and we down them together. I try to pay for it, but he shakes his head no.

"That one was on me sweetie."

I feel myself blush. "Thank you!"

"No problem!" Someone starts hollering for him and he rolls his eyes, making me laugh. "Duty calls."

He walks off and I turn around looking at the dance floor again. I watch everyone dancing for a minute before deciding to join them. I make my way out on to the dance floor.

I start swaying to the music, dancing beside a bunch of strangers that smile at me, but don't try to talk to me. Which is fine. I don't know if I feel like socializing with strangers. I am fine dancing alone.

I dance for an hour, maybe longer. Enjoying the freedom of dancing. Letting my body feel the music, I grind my hips to the beat. Bumping into strangers that are dancing just as freely as me. No one apologizes, no one gets mad, no one judges, everyone just has a good time. For one night everyone is just letting the music carry them.

The song changes and I take the chance to get a drink. I make my way to the bar, needing a little refresher. "You want another shot of tequila?" The bartender asks.

I laugh. "Thank you, but no. I think I just want a soda."

The bartender laughs. "Okay sweetie."

He gives me the soda and I sip it slowly. This time he doesn't walk away, when someone hollers for him. "Hey sweetie, I have a break coming up in about five minutes. Would you like to dance with me?"

I bite my lip nervously. He is really cute. What is the harm in having one quick dance with him? "Umm sure." I say smiling at him. He smiles, walking over to the lady that keeps hollering for him.

I finish my drink about the time the bartender's break is over. I guess I need to ask his name. I can't just call him the bartender. "You ready sweetie?" He asks.

I take his hand and he leads me out on the dance floor. We start dancing and I lean in so he can hear me. "My name is Makenzie by the way."

"Chad." He says smiling at me.

I nod my head, and turn around so I am grinding my butt against him. He puts his hands on my hips, pulling me back further against him. We dance like this for about four songs and someone walks over interrupting us.

"Would you mind if I take over?" The man asks and that voice sounds so familiar. I spin around to where I can see who it is.

Mateo. He is here. He is here and asking me to dance. He is here. What do I do now? "Mateo right?" I ask trying to pretend I haven't thought about him ninety percent of the time during this past week.

He smirks. "Yes."

Chad leans in. "I have to get back to work. Are you okay here?"

I nod my head. "Yes I am okay. Thank you and thank you for the dance."

"You're welcome, you know where to find me." He says winking at me.

Chad walks off and I turn my attention back to Mateo. He is still just as gorgeous as ever. "I'm glad you are here. I was hoping to see you." Mateo says, once we are alone.

He was hoping to see me? Was he thinking about me too? How did he find me? Has he been here this whole time? No that can't be possible.

"You were hoping to see me?" I ask, feeling my cheeks heat up a little.

Mateo gives me a lazy smile, the kind that is just so damn sexy without even trying. "Yes I was. I have came here every night looking for you, hoping you would come back here. Is your boyfriend here with you tonight?" He asks, looking around at all the people in here.

"Do you think if he was here with me I would have been dancing with Chad?" I ask, crossing my hands over my chest. "Besides he's not my boyfriend, he's my, well he's my everything."

Mateo chuckles. "Lots of women dance with other men, even when their boyfriends are here. I see it all the time."

"Well I'm not that kind of woman. Brad, gave me his permission to dance with whoever I want and he told me to have fun. I was having fun with with Chad, that's all." I tell him, not really sure why I'm telling him all of this to begin with.

"Well, you know I'm actually a little offended. You turned me down when I asked you to dance last week, and then I find you dancing with the bartender."

I laugh. "Why does that offend you?"

Mateo pushes a strand of hair behind my ear. "Because, if you didn't already have a man I would make you mine."

An involuntary shiver runs through my body and I hate how I am reacting to him. I don't even know him. I barely know his name. Now he's saying he would make me his? That should be a redflag right? Probably but my body is telling me otherwise.

"Is that right?" I ask, biting my bottom lip.

Mateo smirks. "Yes it is."
