When Jamison heard her thank him, the sharp edges of his handsome face softened, and he grinned. “Just a thank you? Aren’t you going to show me how grateful you are?”
Ivy knew exactly what he meant.
But it was the middle of the day, right outside the dorm building, with students coming and going.
She glanced around–luckily, no one was nearby at that moment. Ivy reached out, grabbed the front of his shirt, yanked him closer, and kissed him.
A quick, smacking kiss.
Jamison’s eyebrows shot up in surprise; he hadn’t expected her to be so bold. Delight sparkled in his dark eyes.
But the kiss was over far too quickly. He barely had time to savor it.
Still smiling, he caught her chin and leaned in, capturing her lips in a deep, lingering
kiss this time.
“Mmm-” Ivy frowned, instinctively trying to pull her head back, but his other hand slid behind her neck, holding her in place.
He was nearly six–foot–three, and even his hands were larger than most men’s.
It felt to Ivy like her head was caught in a net, nowhere to escape, as he kissed her with reckless abandon.
Someone walked past the car outside.
They glanced through the windshield and, upon seeing what was happening inside, their eyes went wide in disbelief.
Once they recognized who was in the car, the shock only deepened.
Adler had been hanging around his girlfriend’s dorm for two hours. He’d hoped for something more, but after a minor argument, she’d turned him down, leaving him frustrated.
Now, seeing the scene in the car, he couldn’t help biting his lip and swallowing, a look of envy and mischief on his face.
Someone else walked by, and Adler quickly looked away and hurried off.

Inside the car, Ivy tried to stop Jamison several times, but he wouldn’t let up. Finally, she clapped her hand over his mouth.
“Seriously? Right outside my dorm? You trying to get me famous my first day back?” she scolded, cheeks flushed.
Jamison laughed and released her, pressing a kiss to her palm before giving her a list of instructions in a gentle, almost nagging tone. “Call me if you need anything–anytime. Keep your distance from those guys, and don’t forget you have a husband…”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.”
“Video call me every night so I can see you.”
“Alright…”
“I’ll come pick you up on Friday. Don’t go home alone.”
“Okay.”
Maybe it was Ivy’s obedient replies that put him in such a good mood. Jamison finally let her go, smiling indulgently as he squeezed her cheeks, teasing her like a spoiled cat.
“Enough already. Go on, I have to get upstairs and sort out my stuff. There’s a lot to do at the start of the semester,” Ivy muttered, blushing even more as she shooed
him away.
“Alright.”
They climbed out of the car together. Jamison wanted to walk her upstairs, but Ivy waved him off. “Stop with the escort service. Go on already.”
“I’ll leave when I see you go inside.”
Ivy rolled her eyes and turned away, heading inside first.
Jamison remained where he was, watching until her figure disapp before the smile faded from his face.

His phone rang in his pocket. He answered, quickly giving his location.
Moments later, Boyd pulled up in his Koenigsegg.
After getting in, Jamison immediately ordered, “I need you to have a few people keep an eye on Emma.”
“Got it. I’ll take care of it today.” Boyd didn’t ask any questions–he just followed

Jamison fell silent, deep in thought. If his wife wouldn’t listen to reason, then he’d have to keep an eye on Emma himself, stopping trouble before it started.
When Ivy got back to the dorm, she was surprised to find her roommate, Roberta, tidying up.
“Ivy, hey! Sorry about the mess–1 stayed here all summer and, you know, got a bit lazy. But I’ll have the place cleaned up in no time.” Roberta greeted her with a cheerful smile.
