Chapter 153 AN OMEGA FELL FROM THE SKY

Chapter 153 AN OMEGA FELL FROM THE SKY
NARRATOR
“You’re useless! I wasted so many resources on you, on getting you to develop your power. All you had to do was fuck the prince properly and you couldn’t even do that! Idiot!”
The Alpha’s roar rang off the walls of the tiny office.
Kiara pressed a hand over her mouth to smother her gasp when she saw Miska hit the floor with a rough, broken groan, then get savagely beaten by a man.
Not just any male... her father, pummeling her between insults.
“I had to pay a lot of damn money to find out there’d be another expedition! The real expedition to the Fae, not that consolation bullshit so that brat could pick our pack!”
“Aah!” Miska clenched her teeth, blood sliding from the corner of her mouth as she held her ribs, getting kicked on the floor.
“Everything changed in one second. The King handed important matters over to Aurelius. It’s obvious a change of crown is coming soon, and here you are…!"
He pointed at Miska, staring down at her like she was nothing but shit.
Kiara could only see the male’s tense back, but she could feel his rage anyway. It sank into her bones.
“Look at you. Pathetic. Now you’re that Omega’s servant. That Omega who’s going to be the next damn Queen! It makes me see red!”
Another round of blows started, and Kiara couldn’t keep watching.
She took a step back, but in that same instant Miska’s red eyes found her from the floor when she lifted her head in agony.
Kiara’s whole body trembled like lightning had ripped straight through her.
Miska had caught her spying on her shameful secret. Her father beating her where no one could see.
Before she got herself into something worse, she turned and ran down the hallway of the old archive-and-office building.

The Academy was so huge that many of its buildings went underused.
She’d come to drop off some old papers from past courses her mother had asked her to get rid of... and she’d walked into this scene in one of the isolated offices.
Kiara bolted outside and didn’t stop until she threw herself into the forest.
She was so scared she honestly thought Miska’s father might come after her to silence her.
Every whisper in the grass, even her own breathing, felt like an alarm.
She shouldn’t have followed the noise. What wouldn’t an Alpha do, an Alpha who pretended to be honorable, just to make sure she didn’t reveal his real face?
Especially when she was friends with that Omega he hated.
Something jumped behind her, probably a fox hunting, but Kiara was already frantic.
“Aaah!” she screamed, hands flying to her face, and she felt that awful sensation again... As if the air were liquefying around her, and she were slipping out of herself, fading fast.
It was happening again. When she got nervous, her magic went out of control and weird things started happening.
She felt herself drop into nothing... and then she slammed into something hard that crashed to the ground under her.
“Ow! What the hell?!”
An angry voice snapped from beneath the small body of the hybrid, half mage, half she-wolf.
“Oh, Goddess... what did I do?” Shaking, Kiara rolled off and collapsed into the grass.
She shoved her short dark hair back, her green eyes wide as a newborn fawn’s as she stared at the old woman getting up, dusting off her clothes with a basket of mushrooms still clutched in one hand.
“And where did you fall from?” Ágata glanced up at the clear sky, but the trace of a magical portal still trembled in the wind... Mmn... strange.
She looked back at the girl, interest flickering, uncertain.
“I... I... I didn’t mean to... it was an accident... aaah, I crushed a poor old lady!”
Kiara dropped to her knees and started crying, her heart caving in after too much happened all at once.
She was an Omega who’d been harassed since she was a kid, then smothered by her mother’s overprotection.
Hybrids weren’t exactly loved by either race that mixed in their blood, and Ágata knew that firsthand.
“Well, creature of the Goddess, stop crying. My old eardrums can’t take that volume anymore. It’s fine. See? I’m in one piece.”
She lifted her hands like proof, forcing Kiara to look.
Kiara watched her, relieved... until Ágata tried to stretch her back.
“Ow, damn... cramp...”
“Granny!” Kiara popped up instantly, trying to hold her, even though Ágata could’ve lifted her with two fingers.
But something about Kiara drew tenderness out of people, and Ágata’s eyes softened.
“I’m fine. Come on, take me to the house. I don’t know where you came from, but now you’re going to have to take care of me.” And she dragged her into her “harmless” old cabin.
The porch boards creaked under Kiara’s feet the second she stepped up.
The door swung open for her, wide and easy.
Ágata didn’t even look surprised. If anything, she seemed calmer, like she was relieved she hadn’t misjudged an innocent face again.
She could be wrong... but old Elbraham wouldn’t be. Kiara had a pure soul.
