Chapter 145 I REMEMBER WHAT YOU STOLE FROM ME
Chapter 145 I REMEMBER WHAT YOU STOLE FROM ME
NARRATOR
Leonardo didn’t let her finish screaming for the guards.
His hands flew to her throat. The Queen fought like hell.
Canines flashed. Claws came out.
Leonardo was bigger, stronger, but Alondra had been fed Lycan blood. In the middle of the struggle, twisting hard to break free, she drove a brutal knee into his groin.
Leonardo let go with a roar.
Alondra lunged for the first door she saw, the one to the small library that connected her chamber to the King’s.
She almost made it, but a fist tangled in her hair and yanked her back so hard her scalp burned.
“Aaah!” she screamed, and in desperation she yanked the tablecloth, trying to grab onto anything.
The dishes went flying, crashing to the floor and shattering.
Alondra whipped around and raked at Leonardo with her claws.
She screamed for the guards again. No one came. And then it got worse.
Leonardo’s hands clamped around her throat again, tight and vicious, like a rabid animal. His grip crushed into her already-bruised neck.
“Leo... no...” she rasped.
It didn’t matter. He looked gone. Like he wasn’t even in the room anymore, trapped in some feverish trance of madness and desperation.
His whole life had been a lie.
He’d worshiped the very woman who’d left him with nothing... no mother, no pack, and the woman he’d loved.
Alondra had been his Alpha father’s ruin, just like that warlock had predicted once... and the bastard had been right.
Her claws tore raw lines into Leonardo’s arms, but she was losing.
Her fingers dragged across the table, blind and frantic, until they closed around something cold.
She was running out of air. With what little strength she had left, she grabbed the pitcher, lifted it, and smashed it down on Leonardo’s head.
He staggered. His hands loosened.
Alondra dropped forward, coughing hard, sucking in air like it was the first breath of her life.
She saw the sharp debris on the floor. She saw Leonardo bent over, clutching his head, roaring.
This was her chance.
With the same ice-cold focus she’d used to tear her own family apart and make herself Queen of these lands, she snatched up a pointed shard.
Blood immediately slicked her palm, but she clenched harder anyway. Before Leonardo could even lift his head, she drove it into the side of his neck.
His roar of pain hit the room at the same time as her scream.
“Aaah, die, you bastard, die!” Alondra shrieked, her true nature spilling out. No mask. No sweetness. Every ugly thing inside her right there on her face, twisted with rage.
“I should’ve killed you like I killed all of them. Your mother. Kaden’s whore of a mother. My father. Isolde. All of them... always in the way. Always useless. Good-for-nothing trash!”
Leonardo collapsed onto the carpet, bleeding out.
Alondra fell with him, stabbing again and again, shredding his neck... even his face.
Blood sprayed everywhere. The furniture. Her clothes. Her own skin.
When the rage finally burned itself out, her shaking hand let the shard slip.
It clinked against the floor.
She stared down at her hands, slick with her nephew’s blood, while Leonardo lay there with his eyes wide open, staring past her, already dead.
Alondra lurched to her feet, panting, looking around at the wreckage.
How the hell was she supposed to hide a murder in her own room?
She could say he attacked first. Yes. Yes. The King had gone out to inspect the packs. She could call her trusted people, clean it up, bury it...
But first things first.
She rushed to the correspondence desk, still drenched in blood, yanked out paper and a quill, and started writing.
She wasn’t going to let Kaden prove himself in front of his father.
The King was old. He’d told her more than once he was tired, that he wanted to leave the throne.
And if Kaden took power, he’d cast them aside. He’d send them far away, and her son...
“You’re not turning my son into your lackey. I’ll kill you too first,” Alondra wrote in a frantic rush to the Vampire King.
She’d rather start a war between realms than let her stepson’s plan work.
But if Leonardo had been telling the truth... how much had the prince already uncovered about her? And that old witch...
“Damn it... what rotten luck...” Everything was collapsing on her like a house of cards.
And then, right in the middle of her plotting, a shadow fell over her.
Even with her back turned, every hair on her body rose. Her wolf howled a terrified warning inside her.
Still... too late.
When she spun, a massive hand closed around her throat, and blue eyes full of frost stared down at her with pure disgust.
Alondra’s body lifted off the floor. Her feet kicked helplessly, trembling along with the rest of her.
Her eyes went wide. Her hands clawed at the grip stealing her air.
“Now I remember...” the Lycan King growled. “I remember everything. Now I know who you are and what you’ve done... what you did to my woman. You destroyed my family. You poisoned my mind all these years, and now you were selling us to our enemies!”
He roared, and his face started to warp into something monstrous.
