Chapter 174
Sienna's pov
It really did seem like he was thinking about everything for me.
Given my current situation, I would definitely be marrying up if I married Julian.
"Do you think marrying me means you love me, Mr. Vane?"
Marriage and love weren't the same thing.
Harrison hated me for five years, yet he never thought about divorcing me.
He knew I wouldn't ask for a divorce, so he felt free to humiliate me without restraint.
"Marriage doesn't prove anything. To me, it's just a shackle. Getting married is easy, but getting divorced is hard. Mr. Vane, you can prove it to me in another way."
"It's late, Mr. Vane. You should go back. I still need to continue my leave for a while. I hope you can approve my leave request when the time comes."
This time, Julian didn't linger. He left with just one sentence.
"I'll come see you when I have time."
As soon as the door closed, Eleanor walked out of the bedroom.
"Willow ate and fell asleep again. What are you planning to do?"
I shook my head. "I'll take it one step at a time. Julian clearly still wants to use me. I'm thinking..."
Maybe I could use this opportunity to give Harrison a heavy blow.
I couldn't let go of this grudge without some form of revenge.
"He's dangerous, remember? You still want to get close to him?" Eleanor immediately interrupted. "You have a daughter now. You can't be reckless. If something happens to you, what will happen to Willow?"
Eleanor seemed more anxious than I was.
"I'm not planning to get close to him now, but he told me Kaia got pregnant a month after I left. Do you think it's Harrison 's child?"
Eleanor didn't seem surprised at all.
"Looks like you knew all along." I chuckled. "After what he did to me, how could I let him off easily?"
Sensing what I was planning, Eleanor was shocked. "You want to go back? Get involved in their mess again? Sienna , there's no need."
Yeah, I knew there was no need. I could just stay in Astoria with my daughter and live my life.
That was what I originally thought.
"Eleanor, Willow was born prematurely because of the shock I got when I heard Kaia was pregnant."
Eleanor was taken aback.
"You still care that much."
I worried so much that it even caused my child to be born prematurely.
"Luckily, you were in the hospital at the time. Otherwise, it could have been a disaster."
How could I not know that?
But emotions weren't something I could control.
"Yes, I care. I can't lie to myself. Either I reconcile with him, or I make him pay. Otherwise, I can't move on."
A year later, I finally said it out loud.
Some things couldn't be smoothed over by time.
"Looks like you've made up your mind."
Eleanor glanced inside. "What about Willow? Harrison will definitely find out about her. You might not even be able to keep her."
The Blackwood family wouldn't allow their bloodline to be out in the world.
I smirked. "No rush. Even if I go back, I'll be fully prepared. I won't let him know about her."
He must never know.
Harrison had another woman bearing his child. My daughter wouldnever go back to the Blackwood family to be mistreated.
The next day, I asked my teacher how long I could take leave. She told me up to six months.
I immediately extended my leave for five months, and Julian approved it right away.
Milo personally drove to pick me up, and I left with my daughter.
This time, Eleanor didn't come with me.
"Why don't you let me take care of Willow? You can focus on your training," Eleanor suggested.
Before I could respond, Milo cut in sharply. "You? I don't trust you."
Eleanor's eyes widened, but before she could say anything, Milo drove off. I bet she was fuming.
"How many people do you have working for you?" I asked, curious about Milo's setup. It seemed like he had a small organization behind him.
"A lot. Don't worry, someone will take good care of the child," he replied.
I pressed on, "Why don't you go back to the Moretti Family? Do you have another identity?"
These questions had been on my mind for a while.
"I told you before, don't be too curious about things you shouldn't know," Milo said, his tone firm.
I wasn't ready to give up. "I have the right to know these things. I agreed to train with you."
The car suddenly sped up, and I noticed there were fewer cars on the road.
"So what? Training with me doesn't mean you have the right to know everything about me. Even Theo doesn't question what I do. Why should you?" Milo's words were sharp.
I was fuming all the way to our destination.
As for the destination, it was in the mountains. Surrounded by peaks, the area in the middle looked like a basin.
Theo said this whole area belonged to him.
"There's no signal here. Only the computer room has equipment connected to the outside world, and you can't get in," Milo explained.
What shocked me more was that almost everyone here had a gun.
"Am I supposed to learn how to use a gun too?" I asked, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Milo took me into a house. From the outside, it looked like an ordinary small house, but inside, it was a girls' dormitory, with each person having their own room.
"Tessa, I have a task for you," Milo called out.
I thought I would be staying here. But no.
"Mr. Moretti, what is it?" asked the woman sitting not far from the door. Her name was Tessa Hawthorne.
When she saw me holding a child and walking in with Milo, she looked like she'd seen a ghost.
"Take care of this child for five months. If anything goes wrong, it's on you," Milo instructed.
Tessa was stunned. "What? A child? Whose? Yours?"
"Just do it!" Milo snapped.
Tessa's eyes darted between me and Milo, clearly suspicious of our relationship.
I wanted to explain, but Milo said, "Don't worry about anything. Just take her."
Take... it was still a child. How could you just say take?
"Give her to me. I'll take good care of her," Tessa said, quickly taking the child from my arms and running back to her room.
I didn't feel very confident. "Can she really do it? She doesn't seem very reliable."
Willow was only a month old. Tessa seemed careless. Could she really take care of a baby?
"She had an accident before. To survive, she had to have her uterus removed. I believe she'll be good to the child," Milo explained.
I was speechless. I hadn't expected that.
"That's why you're confident. But why should I be?" I asked, still skeptical.
"There are so many cases of child neglect. Why should I trust a man I just met?"
"Because you have no choice," Milo said bluntly.
Then, he took me to a secluded spot. He seemed to like it here.
"If you refuse, I'll send you away now. If you need help in the future, don't come to me," he warned.
