Chapter 115
Sienna's pov
I wondered what Harrison was going to do.
He's Adrian's dad, but he's also my husband. From our past interactions, he was probably not going toside with me.
What was I still hoping for? What right did I have to hope? Just becausehe had shown me a bit of warmth recently?
If he wanted to keep me, he wouldn't just leave me to fend for myself.
The Blackwood family wouldn't allow a woman with a tarnished reputation be Harrison 's wife.
Days passed, and I was kept under watch. Aside from the regular three meals a day, no one came to ask me anything.
I knew what this meant.
Adrian was just a child. If he were thrown down, he might not survive.
If someone actually died, regardless of the reason, this wouldn't end well.
When someone finally came to see me, it was several days later.
We looked at each other through the iron bars, remaining silent for a moment.
The mere fact that they had come to see me, not to take me away, already spelled out my fate.
"One month."
Harrison said first, "I'll try to reduce your punishment to the minimum, but you have to cooperate. Otherwise, I can't help you."
I smirked, "So, you still want me to plead guilty, right? It's not even my fault! Why are you doing this to me?"
Harrison 's expression remained calm. "Many things aren't as simple as right or wrong, Sienna . You need to understand your current situation. Adrian is dead, and I must give Elena an explanation. No matter the reason, your actions led to Adrian's death. That's an unchangeable fact! So I deserve to be wronged, to be schemed against, to bear the responsibility."
Harrison ’s calm demeanor was terrifying.
He always managed to weigh everything, and maximize benefits.
Even if he knew I might be innocent, he never considered clearing my name.
After all, in his view, he had the power to cover everything up for me. But right now, he felt I needed to bear this guilt, so I had to, or else I would be considered unreasonable.
At this point, what feelings are we talking about? I shouldn't have been swayed by that bit of tenderness he showed.
Compared to what he felt for Elena, what did that even amount to?
"I'm not saying you deserve it, but pleading guilty now will save you a lot of suffering. This matter will be resolved quickly." He spoke as if it were obvious."One month, at most two months, and you'll be out. I'll declare Adrian's death an accident, unrelated to you. Even if you plead guilty, no one will know you were in prison. I'll compensate you well. This won't affect you at all."
"But I don't need that!" I said firmly, "I just want my innocence. I won't admit to something I didn't do."
Harrison seemed to get annoyed, his voice turning colder. "Can you be reasonable? I'm trying to help you. You need to know there's almost no evidence proving your innocence! Even if I wanted to clear your name, there's no chance of overturning the case! Isn't it better to just admit it?"
"Leave." I took a deep breath, no longer wanting to talk to him. "I'll take responsibility for my actions. I don't need you to consider anything for me."
Even if he made sense, I still hated him.
The distance between us was growing wider and wider.
"You have your things to do, your reasons. At this point, I don't even know who you truly love. But there's one thing, Harrison , I need to tell you."
One thing after another, my indecisiveness led to so many serious consequences.
It turns out that until the consequences hit me personally, I always thought there was still time to fix things.
Now it was finally my turn.
“You’d better pray I never get out. Because once I'm out, I won't just torment you— I'll turn the Blackwood family upside down. If I can destroy the Blackwood Group, that would be great too."
I had thought similar things many times before, but either lacked the heart to act on them or never had the chance.
Harrison didn't seem surprised by my reaction, he either didn't believe me or thought I wouldn't go through with it.
He simply replied calmly, "If you can do it, I'll be waiting. Take care of yourself here."
Clearly, he didn't take my warning seriously, and even spoke with a tone of pity.
I gripped the bars, forcing the words out through clenched teeth.
"I hate you. I should have hated you completelymuch earlier."
Harrison smiled, looking calm and composed.
"Another bit of hate won't make a difference. When you get out, I'll be waiting for you to settle the score with you.”
I watched Harrison leave, my fiststriking the iron door.
I truly had no way to deal with him.
After Harrison 's visit, the officers questioned me again.I held my ground and refused to admit any guilt. But when the final verdict was delivered, I had no choice but to comply.
I don't know whatinfluence Harrison used, but the verdict came quickly. Officially, I was sentenced tosix months, for negligent injury.
Sometimes I couldn't help but thinkthat it would be better if they simply ended my life. My family is gone, reason for me to hold on to life.
But... as long as I could make it out alive, I wouldn't let the Blackwood family off the hook, and I would make Elena pay!
The two months in prison feltendlessly long.
Each day followed the same routine, punctuated by the education sessions. It was dull, yet it offered a rare sense of peace.
If only there were no bullying among inmates.
I didn't know if someone had arranged it, but I always seemed to be the one getting oppressed, never getting any good things.
As I sat on the bed thinking,I was suddenly slapped.
"What are you sitting around for? Today's hot water hasn't been fetched for us yet. Hurry up!"
The woman who hit me was the most hot-tempered and ruthless in my room. She had been imprisonedfor severely injuring someone.
Over those two months, being slapped by her was a minor thing.
At first, I would resist, but after realizing no one would help me, I learned toendure it.
I was entirely different fromwho I had been before entering prison.
Once, when confronted with the Blackwood family's and Elena's bullying, I wouldstand tall with pride. But that version of me was gone.
The relentless unfairness had worn down my spirit.
"Wait a moment, I'll go now."
I picked up the kettle and went to the water room, filling one kettle after another.
When I brought the last two kettles back to the room, I saw the warden.
"Sienna , pack up. You can leave."
I asked calmly, "Does that mean I'm being released?"
The day had finally come, but I didn't feel much joy.
After all, many troublesome matters still awaited me outside.
"What else? Do you want to stay here longer? Hurry up."
I had nothing important left here, so I quickly packed my things and followed the warden out.
Seeing the outside world againleft me slightly dazed
Only two months, had passed, yet everything felt different.
Harrison was standing at the door, but I stopped in my tracks.
