Chapter 92 The Ignored Layla

Layla Cole, the foreign beauty, was all pumped up at first, but Henry didn't even give her a second look, leaving her feeling super awkward.

Henry was totally focused on Olivia, ignoring everyone else trying to chat him up.

"Aren't you hungry? Let's go," Henry said, wrapping his arm around Olivia's shoulder as they stepped into the elevator, leaving Layla standing there, stunned.

"Henry, do you seriously not recognize me?" Layla asked, sounding a bit hurt.

Olivia found the whole thing pretty funny but kept her laughter in check. The elevator was packed since it was morning rush hour. Olivia stood in the corner, and Henry turned his back to the crowd, shielding her with his arms.

Layla just stared, wide-eyed.

When they got to the restaurant floor, Henry pulled Olivia out of the elevator, with Layla trailing behind. But since Henry was ignoring her, she kept her distance and just watched them head into the restaurant.

Breakfast was a buffet. Olivia grabbed a seat while Henry went to get her some food. As soon as Henry left, Layla plopped down across from Olivia.

"Who are you, and why are you with Henry?" Layla demanded, her temper flaring.

Layla was pretty fiery. At first, Olivia felt a bit sorry for her, but now she thought Layla kind of deserved it.

"Who I am is none of your business. And my connection with Henry? That's even less your concern. Miss, you're in my seat. Please move."

Layla was fuming and stormed off without eating.

When Henry came back, he acted like nothing had happened and brought Olivia eggs, milk, and her favorite pasta. Since Olivia didn't eat meat, he didn't get any meat dishes.

"Do you really not know that beautiful woman?" Olivia asked, curious.

"Why should I know her? My name's Henry, and a lot of people know that. Doesn't mean I have to respond to everyone who calls me," Henry said.

Olivia couldn't help but laugh at Henry's words.

Since Henry didn't want to deal with Layla, Olivia didn't think much of it. But, surprise, surprise, they ran into her again at the seminar. Layla had a press badge and turned out to be a journalist.

When Olivia and Henry walked into the venue in their police uniforms, they immediately grabbed everyone's attention.

"They look so perfect together!"

"Yeah, the female officer is gorgeous, and the male officer is so cool!"

The room buzzed with chatter, and Layla watched the scene, gritting her teeth in anger.

Olivia was the first to speak, presenting a paper on Metamale crimes. During the Q&A session, Layla grabbed the microphone.

"Officer, you look really young, not like a scholar, and definitely not like a police officer. Did you actually write this paper, or did you plagiarize it?" Layla's words were blunt. While many in the room doubted Olivia's credentials, Layla's question was unusually sharp.

Olivia looked at Layla, gave a faint smile, and said, "Can you point out exactly where you think I plagiarized? Everyone here is a police officer, so if you suspect me, you need to provide evidence. Do you have proof?"

Olivia threw the question back at Layla, who, of course, had no evidence. She just wanted to embarrass Olivia but ended up making a fool of herself.

Parker, watching from the sidelines, didn't look too happy. He walked over and stood next to Olivia. She glanced at him as he took her place at the podium.

"I didn't want to reveal certain details, but since there are doubts, let me introduce my student, Officer Olivia, standing next to me. Three months ago, she encountered a Metamale criminal and was stabbed six times while protecting civilians. I think no one understands such cases better than Olivia. What do you all think?"

Parker's defense and statement made the room go silent, then burst into applause. Olivia stood straight and saluted, sending the room into a frenzy.

In the end, Olivia shone, while Layla was left embarrassed. Henry watched Olivia with pride on his face.

When it was his turn to speak, Henry's presentation, filled with detailed images and text, cast a somber mood over the room.

"We continue to seek international cooperation and hope for more support from international police!" Henry bowed and saluted, receiving enthusiastic applause. They left the venue immediately.

As soon as they stepped outside, Layla followed, "Henry, wait a minute!"

Henry showed no kindness to Layla; he looked visibly annoyed.

Olivia tugged on Henry's sleeve, and he stopped. She whispered to him, "I'll wait for you outside. Don't lose your temper."

As Olivia was about to leave, Layla's eyes were fixed on Henry. But Henry grabbed Olivia's hand, and together they faced Layla.

"Do you have any other questions?" Henry asked, his tone cold.

Layla's gaze fell on their joined hands, her eyes filled with jealousy.

Layla was very beautiful, and Olivia couldn't help but wonder why such a beauty was so obsessed with Henry.

"I want to talk to you alone, can I?" Layla looked at Henry hopefully, but he remained indifferent.

"No, I have nothing to discuss with you. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way. I have work to do!" Henry said.

Seeing Henry about to leave, Layla panicked. "It's about Drew. I have news about Drew!"

When Olivia and Henry heard Drew's name, their expressions turned serious.

They stared at Layla, making her feel uncomfortable, as if she were a suspect in their eyes.

"There's a café downstairs. Let's sit there for a while," Olivia suggested. Henry frowned but eventually nodded in agreement.

The three sat in the café, Olivia and Henry took off their caps, their police uniforms making them stand out.

"Go ahead, what news do you have about Drew?" Henry asked.

Layla spoke softly. "A few days ago at the airport, I saw someone who looked a lot like Drew. You know, I've met him before, so I'm very familiar with his appearance."
