When Ron gently smoothed Cristofer's wet hair back, he saw the wound on Cristofer's forehead and couldn’t help but gasp.
“Mr. Hans, the wound is long, and it’s at least ten centimeters.”
“I know. That’s why I asked you to buy large-sized band-aids.”
“Mr. Hans, you’d better go to the hospital. The wound may need stitches.”
“There’s no need to go to the hospital. I’m okay. Just disinfect it and cover it with band-aids. Hurry up. Estelle will be worried if I go back late,” Cristofer said calmly.
“Okay.”
Ron initially utilized the swab to cleanse the bloodstain surrounding the wound, followed by the application of a disinfectant. However, the moment he applied alcohol to the wound, blood started to flow from it.
Seeing this, he hurriedly applied pressure to Cristofer's wound with the swab to stop the bleeding. However, the blood soaked through the swab instantly, and the bleeding could not be stopped at all.
“Mr. Hans, I can’t stop the bleeding. You need to go to the hospital now,” Ron said worriedly.
With a frown, Cristofer touched his forehead. Then his fingers are stained with warm and sticky blood.
Anxiously, Ron conveyed, “Mr. Hans, if you refrain from seeking medical attention and neglect proper treatment for the wound, it may result in a permanent scar on your forehead. Miss Hudson will also notice your injury.” This statement played a pivotal role in persuading Cristofer.
After thinking for a while, Cristofer finally nodded and agreed to go to the hospital.
In the apartment, Estelle had finished cleaning up the dining room with Mrs. Moorsum. She was watching Yohan playing with the puppy on the sofa when she received the message from Mr. Mysterious.
‘Estelle, I have something to deal with and will go back late. Go to bed early and don’t wait for me. ‘
“Mom, is Dad going to work again?” Yohan asked.
“Yes,” Estelle answered.
Yohan then ran to her with the puppy in his arms. “Mom, the puppy and I will stay with you so that you won’t feel lonely.”
“Thank you, Yohan.”
“Mom, if there is no bad guy in the world, will Dad be able to stay with you every day?” Yohan tilted his head and asked.
‘Mr. Mysterious has his own things to do and can’t stay with me every day. But it doesn’t matter. I’m already very satisfied with my current life,’ Estelle thought.
“Maybe,” she answered Yohan. “Well, it’s late now. You should go to bed.”
“Mom, may I sleep with the puppy tonight?”
“Sure.”
Yohan returned to the room carrying the puppy. Both were exhausted from their playtime and quickly drifted off to sleep. Meanwhile, Yvonne, freshly fed, was also sleeping soundly with her little mouth slightly ajar.
After making sure that the children were sleeping soundly, Estelle tiptoed out of the children’s room, closed the door, and returned to her bedroom.
She had been used to Mr. Mysterious’ company these days. Therefore, staying in the empty and silent bedroom alone, she couldn’t help feeling somewhat depressed.
At night, Mr. Mysterious came back before Estelle went to bed.
While Estelle was chatting with Rebecca online and talking about the funny story between Justin and her, she was suddenly held by Mr. Mysterious from behind.
The light was off, and the bedroom was dark. And the moonlight poured in through the windows.
Smelling the familiar scent of cologne, Estelle felt a sense of security.
“Sir, you’re back,” she said softly.
“Yes,” Mr. Mysterious said in a hoarse voice. “I’m sorry. I had something urgent to deal with, so I came back late.”
Estelle pivoted to face him, wrapping her arms around his waist. Simultaneously, she noticed the scent of his cologne intensifying, bordering on overpowering.
Suddenly, a tickle in her nose prompted an uncontrollable sneeze. “Sir, have you been smoking again?” she asked.
“Can you detect the smoke? I specifically lingered downstairs to let the smoke fade,” Mr. Mysterious responded.
“It’s not that I’m forbidding you from smoking. It’s just that I believe it’s detrimental to your health, so I hope you can cut down on it,” Estelle advised.
“I understand,” Mr. Mysterious responded softly. “I rushed back because I wanted to see you. I apologize, Estelle. I should’ve stayed downstairs longer until the smoke fully cleared. How have you been feeling lately?” He gently gestured towards her chest as he asked.
Estelle realized he was still concerned about her health condition.
Her lung cancer was like a ticking time bomb. Recently, things had been going so well that she’d almost forgotten about her illness.
“Yes, I’m doing much better,” she responded, affirming with a nod.
“If you ever feel uncomfortable, even slightly, please let me know immediately, alright?”
“Alright,” Estelle replied. “Also, Sir, I should be able to finalize my divorce from Cristofer this coming Friday.”
“...”
“Sir?”
“I see.” Mr. Mysterious pulled her into a tight embrace, saying with meaningful words, “Go ahead with the divorce. Remember, I’ll always be here for you.”
Estelle didn’t dwell on the deeper implications of his words and returned his hug gently.
“Let’s get some rest,” Mr. Mysterious suggested.
“Alright,” Estelle agreed.
Shortly after, she drifted off to sleep, curled up snugly against Mr. Mysterious.
The following morning, Estelle was roused from sleep by a phone call from the hospital.
“Miss Hudson, a man recently arrived at the hospital claiming he’s here to visit your mother. I was worried your uncle might have sent him, so I halted him and called you immediately,” the nurse informed her over the phone.
Jolted awake by the news, Estelle quickly responded, “A man came to visit my mother?”
“Yes, it’s a young man looking about thirty years old,” the nurse answered.
“Did he tell you who he is? Is he Mr. Hans from Hans International Corporation?”
“No, he said he was your boss and came to visit your mother on behalf of the company. I don’t know his name. He just asked me to call him Mr. Roberts.”
‘Mr. Roberts? Tim went to the hospital?’ Estelle thought as her eyes widened in surprise.
“I see. Thank you.” Estelle ended the call and promptly dialed Tim’s number.
A few moments later, Tim, seemingly anticipating her call, picked up in a relaxed tone, “Hello?”
“Mr. Roberts, what exactly are you trying to do?” Estelle asked.
“Didn’t you hear what the nurse just told you? I’m your boss, and I’m visiting your mother today as a representative of the company,” Tim replied.
“But I’m no longer an employee of Only Love Jewelry, so you’re not my boss anymore,” Estelle pointed out.
“That’s not the main point. Get here quickly. We’ll talk later. Goodbye,” Tim responded, ending the call abruptly.
He then displayed his phone screen to the nurse and raised his eyebrows, “See? I told you she would call. May I proceed now?”
