“Hold on,” Tim interrupted her and retorted. “Don’t be in such a hurry to make a decision. Even when you go shopping, you will need to shop around before you decide what to buy, right? I think you should think twice before starting a new relationship. You may consider being with me. After all, I’m also the prince charming of countless women in Hadale. It can be said that except for Cristofer and Justin, I’m the most attractive man in Hadale.”
Estelle was speechless.
“But you won’t have a chance to be with Justin. He will only love Rebecca for the rest of his life. As for Cristofer... I remember that you are going to divorce him, aren’t you?”
“Yes.”
“Then don’t hesitate and be with me! I’m the best choice for you! Is there anyone more well-matched with you than me in our city?”
Estelle took a deep breath and said calmly, “Yes, there is.”
“Who?”
“Mr. Mysterious.”
“That’s impossible!” Tim retaliated confidently. “Mr. Mysterious won’t be more well-matched with you than me unless he is Justin or Cristofer.”
Estelle let out a heavy sigh and went silent.
On the one hand, she should keep Mr. Mysterious’ identity a secret. On the other hand, she thought there was no need to tell Tim about her relationship with Mr. Mysterious. Therefore, she just kept silent.
“Estelle, what on earth do you want? Do you want money? Well, I’m rich. If you want to make friends with more people in the upper class, it will not be an issue as I’m in the upper class. Why don’t you want to be with me?” Tim asked in confusion.
“Because I don’t want anything from you,” Estelle abruptly explained.
“Women are complicated creatures. Some women only want money and high social status to satisfy their vanity, and some want nothing. Oh, my God. I really can’t understand you.”
Upon hearing this, Estelle inquired, “Mr. Roberts, does the young lady whom your mother introduced to you possess a significant inclination towards wealth?”
“Yes! How do you know that?”
“I was just guessing.”
“Is that so?” Tim questioned skeptically. “Never mind. Allow me to disclose the reality. My mother coerced me into getting married and introduced a woman to me. That woman is undoubtedly someone who pursues wealth and material possessions. When she discovered that I was on a business trip abroad, she came to visit me and relentlessly bothered me every day. It became exceedingly bothersome. Therefore, I am eager to find a girlfriend promptly to sever ties with her and persuade my mother to stop pressuring me into marriage. Otherwise, I fear that their persistent annoyance will eventually drive me to despair.”
After listening to the whole story, Estelle finally understood everything and said, “So, the reason why you want me to be your girlfriend is that I’m quiet and not clingy?”
“Well, you could put it that way. If we become a couple, we can each fulfill our respective needs within the relationship. Bob mentioned that you are experiencing financial difficulties. I am willing to provide you with ample financial support on the condition that you refrain from pestering me. All I desire is freedom. It seems like an ideal solution to address our current challenges! However, you are rejecting an exceptional man like myself in favor of someone dangerous like Mr. Mysterious! I truly struggle to comprehend your decision.”
“Mr. Roberts, if I met you a month ago, I might agree to start such a mutually beneficial relationship with you. But now, I’m not short of money. And I just want to live an ordinary and peaceful life,” Estelle explained.
Hearing that, Tim hung up the phone angrily.
And Estelle couldn’t help but sigh.
She thought to herself, ‘It seems that parents always hope that their children can get married and settle down early, and a highly educated parent like Mrs. Roberts is no exception. Fortunately, I have never been urged to get married.’
Estelle and Cristofer developed a deep affection for each other at a young age. When their parents became aware of their relationship, they had already been secretly together for several years. Soon after Estelle reached the legal age for marriage, she tied the knot with Cristofer.
When Estelle returned to the ward, Aurora played with Yohan and laughed heartily. “Yohan, you are great!”
Seeing Estelle, she waved her hand and said with her eyes full of laughter, “Estelle, come here quickly.”
Estelle then walked over and sat down on the chair beside the bed.
In the following moment, Yohan eagerly embraced his mother and expressed with a smile, “Mom, I miss you so much!”
“I miss you too,” Estelle said gently.
“You honey-lipped boy, your mother was away for just a few minutes. Do you miss her so much?” Aurora inquired with a smile.
“He used to live in Ameris. In that country, people are known for openly expressing their affection. It’s possible that he was influenced by the cultural norms there.”
“There are numerous children residing abroad, yet I have not come across any other child as affectionate as Yohan. Estelle, his personality differs from yours. When you were a child, you carried yourself like a proud little princess and never uttered such endearing words to your father or me. I believe Yohan takes after Cristofer in this particular aspect,” Aurora smiled.
At the mention of Cristofer, Estelle didn’t say anything, and the smile on her face faded away a little.
Noticing Estelle’s reaction, Aurora gently held her hand and said, “Sorry. I won’t mention him anymore. Estelle, don’t give up your hope for love. You’ll find the right person. You may try to start a new relationship.”
