The next day, there was a morning meeting in which everyone reported the updates on their recent work.
“Estelle, what’s wrong with your mouth?”
Estelle, who was in a daze, wrenched her mind back to the present when hearing the voice.
Not until then did she realize that the morning meeting had been over. All the other staff had left, and only Tim and her were left in the meeting room.
Staring at her lips, Tim frowned and said, “Your mouth is grazed. Are you okay?”
Hearing this, Estelle touched the corner of her mouth and hissed in pain.
Last night, she saw a whole different side of Mr. Mysterious.
Mr. Mysterious was so passionate when kissing her. As a result, her lips were red and swollen today, and the skin at the corners of her mouth seemed to have broken.
“By the way, why did you suddenly hang up on me yesterday?” Tim asked as he walked over and stood in front of her. “And have you thought about my proposal?”
Considering that Tim was her boss, Estelle didn’t answer him immediately and wondered how to refuse him politely.
She couldn’t refuse him on the phone bluntly. But when talking face to face with him, she didn’t want to be too straightforward in case of any embarrassment.
After a while, she told Tim, “Mr. Roberts, I’ve been in a relationship.”
“Who are you dating? Yesterday, I asked you who your boyfriend is, but you didn’t tell me. Now, I even doubt whether this person exists. Were you just making an excuse to refuse me?”
“Of course, he exists!” Estelle said in a hurry.
“Then tell me who he is, what he does, and whether he is handsome. I want to see what’s good about him,” Tim urged her.
While they were talking, his phone suddenly rang.
Feeling annoyed, he answered the phone and said impatiently, “What’s up?”
The next moment, his face changed, and he said in shock, “What? Our share prices plummeted by five points. How could it be? Wait for me. I’ll be there right now.”
After hanging up the phone, Tim looked deeply at Estelle and said, “I have something to deal with now. Let’s talk about it later.”
Then he left the meeting room in a hurry.
At this time, Estelle’s phone beeped.
‘Don’t stay alone with Tim anymore.’
Seeing the message from Mr. Mysterious, Estelle realized what had happened and replied to him.
‘He left just now because of an urgency. Did you do that?’
‘I just want him to learn a small lesson. If he dares to pester you again, I won’t be so merciful next time.’
These days, Tim feels irritable and depressed because of his business.
He had reached an agreement with a famous foreign company on designing a collection of Medieval-style jewelry for it and had agreed on the price. However, the company suddenly returned to its words and demanded a lower price, which was unreasonable.
Tim had no choice but to go abroad with the designers in charge of this project and negotiate with the company.
When Bob said that Tim was away on a business trip that would last at least a week, she just nodded. And at the same time, she felt a little relieved when thinking that she didn’t need to meet Tim these days.
She still didn’t know why Tim suddenly confessed his love to her.
‘Didn’t he say that he didn’t want to get married? He even refused to blind dates arranged by Mrs. Roberts.’
At lunch break, Mrs. Roberts came to Only Love Jewelry again.
Seeing her coming, the receptionist said respectfully, “Mrs. Roberts, Mr. Roberts is away on a business trip to Europe.”
Hearing this, Mrs. Roberts, who wore a black suit and sunglasses today, said, “I know that. I’m not here to see Tim but Miss Hudson.”
Soon, Estelle was asked to go to the VIP room.
When she entered the VIP room, she saw Mrs. Roberts reading a magazine on the sofa elegantly.
“Miss Hudson, glad to see you,” Mrs. Roberts said with a smile when seeing her.
Estelle greeted her respectfully, “Glad to see you too, Mrs. Roberts.”
“Take a seat. Don’t be nervous,” Mrs. Roberts said.
Estelle then sat on the other end of the sofa to keep a distance from her. She didn’t expect that Mrs. Roberts would come to her, and she sensed that Mrs. Roberts must have something to say to her.
“Miss Hudson, I know you are a straightforward person, so I won’t beat around the bush.” Mrs. Roberts said as she took out a cheque from her handbag and put it in front of Estelle. “This is for you. You can fill in the amount as you like as long as you resign from Only Love Jewelry.”
Estelle was stunned momentarily and smiled, “Mrs. Roberts, what do you mean?”
“I’m sorry, Miss Hudson. I know what I’m doing may be hurtful, but I have to do so. I know that Tim has feelings for you. But your family is... Anyway, I don’t think our two families are fairly well matched.”
Estelle suddenly thought that the current situation was a little ridiculous.
She remembered that when she was in junior high school, she always read romance novels. And in some of them, the rich hero’s mother would give the poor heroine a large amount of money and ask her to leave the hero.
She didn’t expect that the plot of the novel would become real.
‘Life is like a play,’ she thought.
Then she returned the cheque to Mrs. Roberts and said, “Sorry, Mrs. Roberts. I can’t take it.”
Mrs. Roberts’ face darkened when she heard this. “Miss Hudson, you may feel free to tell me what else you want.”
“I didn’t mean that, Mrs. Roberts. You misunderstand me. Mr. Roberts and I only have an employer-employee relationship. I’ve been in a relationship, and I’ve had two children.”
“What?” Mrs. Roberts stood up in shock.
Estelle chuckled and said, “Mrs. Roberts, did you only investigate my family background? I’m already the mother of two children. Actually, Mr. Roberts has expressed his feelings for me. But I always feel that he did that not because he likes me but because you put too much pressure on him about his getting married. He was just making an excuse to avoid going on the blind dates.”
Hearing this, Mrs. Roberts turned to look at Estelle with an expression of dawning comprehension. And she thought that what Estelle had said made sense.
‘The last time I came here, Tim insisted that he would never get married. Logically speaking, it is almost impossible for him to change his mind suddenly.’
