Chapter 14 Chapter 14: How Long I Can Live?
While lying on the bed, Estelle was intubated and muzzled with an oxygen mask. Her face was pale and bloodless. In such a condition, she even had difficulty in breathing, but she still tried to utter a word, “Ch... Children...”
“Don’t worry. The children are fine now. Miss. Hudson, listen to me. The doctor is preparing to do stem cell transplant for the two children, but you need to sign the informed consent before the operation. Can you sign it now?”
Estelle raised her hand slowly and nodded weakly.
Peter put the pen in her hand, squatted down, and placed the informed consent in front of her.
“Please sign your name here,” he said.
When Estelle signed the consent, sweat trickled down her forehead, and she felt faint and short of breath.
Finally, with the help of Peter, she managed to finish it.

Estelle, who was in a coma, dreamed about her children.
The next moment, she woke up with a foggy mind and stared blankly at the white wall of the ward.
She looked around slowly and then realized that she was still in the hospital.
“Miss Hudson, you are finally awake,” The nurse in the ward said and breathed a sigh of relief. “You have been in a coma for four days. The doctor said that if you still haven’t woken up in three days, you will...”
Estelle struggled to sit up and asked, “Where are my children? They...”
“Don’t worry. Their operation was successful. The two children are in better condition now,” The nurse said.
“I want to see them,” Estelle said.
“Miss Hudson, you had just had an operation four days ago, and the incision is big. You can’t get out of bed.”
Operation? Estelle was confused.
It was not until then that she found that her chest was wrapped in thick gauze. And she felt a dull pain.
The nurse explained to her, “You fainted in the hospital suddenly and almost died. The doctor did surgery for you and cut off the diseased part of your lung. Don’t do any energetic exercise these days.”
“Cut off the diseased part? Will I live longer?” Estelle asked.
The nurse thought for a while and said, “It’s hard to say. It depends on whether your cancer will relapse in the future. But if you can undergo chemotherapy regularly, It shouldn’t be a problem to extend your life.”
“How long can I live?”
“I don’t know,” The nurse said, shaking her head, “But the doctors will try their best to save you.”
Estelle nodded. Death was not as scary to her as before. And she thought that she was lucky enough to be able to live longer.
Maybe God pities me so he lets me live longer.
When Estelle was lost in thought, someone knocked on the door.
The nurse looked at the man at the door and asked, “Sir, are you Miss Hudson’s family?”
The man was dressed in a white shirt and suit pants, and his hair was neatly arranged. His glasses with gold wire frames made him look noble and handsome.
“Yes,” The man said gently.
“Miss Hudson, I’m going out. If you need anything, just ring the bell,” The nurse said, then walked out and closed the door.
When Estelle saw the man before her, she smiled and said, “What brings you here from the other side of the earth?”
“Do you still take me as your friend? Why didn’t you tell me that you were seriously ill?” James said with a helpless look.
He was always very gentle when he spoke, making people feel comfortable.
Estelle was a little embarrassed and said, “Having cancer is not a good thing. And I don’t want you to worry about me.”
“So you decided to die lonely after giving birth to the baby? You didn’t even want to see me for the last time? Estelle, even if you don’t want to be my girlfriend, we are still friends, right?”
Hearing that, Estelle didn’t know what to say.
James then sighed and sat down on the chair beside her bed.
With a worried look on his face, he said, “Estelle, go back to Ameris with me. I’ll take care of your children.”
“I... I can’t go back now,” Estelle said.
“Why? Are you still unwilling to give up on Cristofer?” James said and smiled bitterly. “Why don’t you love me? I can’t compare with him in your heart, right?”
Estelle felt a little guilty when hearing this.
Back then, a series of changes happened in the Hans family, and Cristofer broke up with her.
When she was in despair, it was James who accompanied her all the time.
Although James knew that she still loved Cristofer and was pregnant with Cristofer’s child, he still treated her well and took good care of her.

Later, Yohan was born and diagnosed with septicemia. Estelle had no choice but to come back to Hadale alone, hoping that Cristofer could save their child. And in the past years, it was James who had taken care of Yohan abroad.
Thinking about what James had done for her, Estelle asked, “Mr. Harris, why me?”
“What?” James didn’t understand what she meant.
“Why did you fall in love with me?” Estelle asked. “As a rich and powerful man, you can marry a woman who is younger and more beautiful than me. At least, you can marry a woman without a seriously ill child.”
