Chapter One Hundred And Thirty Eight
Theo's POV
4 a. m.
Still nothing.
I clenched my jaw, my grip tightening around the steering wheel as I sped down the empty streets. The city lights blurred past me, but my mind was focused on one thing-one person.
Sofia.
I was running out of time.
Jude had been a step ahead of me.
How?
How the hell did Jude know I was coming?
Every lead I chased, every move I made-he was already one step ahead. It wasn't just luck. It wasn't coincidence. Someone was feeding him information. Someone close.
My gut twisted at the thought.
I had always been careful. Always stayed ahead of the game. But this time, I was the one being hunted, played like a fool while Sofia was out there-alone, trapped with him.
I slammed my foot on the brakes, the tires screeching against the pavement as I pulled into the abandoned warehouse. The same damn place I had stormed into an hour ago, trying to squeeze answers out of the last man standing from Thomas's crew.
And now, I was back.
Because something wasn't adding up.
I shoved the car door open, stepping into the cold night air. The stench of blood and sweat still clung to the place. My footsteps echoed as I moved inside, my eyes landing on the man tied to the chair in the center of the room.
He was barely conscious now, his head hanging low, his breathing shallow. Blood dripped from his split lip, his left eye swollen shut. My man had done a good job of breaking him, but maybe we hadn't dug deep enough.
I crouched in front of him, grabbing his jaw and forcing his head up. His one good eye fluttered open, dazed, unfocused.
"Let's try this again," I murmured. "How did Jude know we were coming?"
No answer.
I tilted my head, my grip tightening. "I know someone's been feeding him intel." My voice was low, controlled. "And you're going to tell me who."
He let out a weak chuckle, his bloodied lips stretching into something that almost looked like amusement.
"You really don't know?" he rasped.
My stomach coiled.
I yanked him upright, my patience razor-thin. "Who. The fuck. Talked?"
His laugh came again, rough and hoarse. "You think you're so untouchable, don't you?" His head lolled to the side, and then he smirked. "Check your own house, Theo."
My chest went tight.
No.
No, it couldn't be-
"Who?" My voice was sharp, cutting through the air.
