Episode 20

★LUCIA★

Since my dad and his Beta, Silva, left, I have been staying with Logan. Despite being warned by Silva to leave shortly after they departed, I have remained in the clinic, chatting with Logan.

I couldn't help but wonder why Silva didn't send anyone to fetch me. I'm certain it's because my father had warned him about me.

It seems that Silva is now afraid of me. So I have been spending time with Logan and we have been talking. Recently, I discovered that his mother's name is Sylvie, which is the same name my mother used in her story where she mentioned her own name. It feels like I am living in that same story.

This discovery has led to many thoughts running through my head. It is concerning because Logan's family has experienced similar attacks to what my family went through before my mother disappeared and the both of us are just in the same condition now.

I suspect that the individual who abducted them may have also been responsible for kidnapping my mother.

Although I wanted to learn more about this information, I didn't want to trouble him at the moment. Therefore, I acted as if everything was fine and continued our conversation.

Just then, UK entered our room and announced, "Lucia, dinner is ready."

I glanced at Arianna before looking back at the visitor. "No need to worry, I'll have my meal later," I assured her, anticipating that she would leave.

However, she remained and interrupted me, saying, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but it's a family dinner. Alpha Jesse and Diana are already waiting for you in the dining room."

"Didn't you hear me say that I'll eat later?" I exclaimed, raising my voice slightly.

"Sorry," she murmured before leaving the room. I turned back to Logan, intending to speak with him, but Ariana cut in.

"Excuse me, my princess," she called out, and I looked up at her. "Yes?" I replied.

"Here, you always dine with your family, especially dinner" she explained. I stared at her silently for a few seconds before nodding my head and exhaling softly. Then, I turned my attention back to Logan.

"Hey, please take care of yourself, okay?" I said with a brief smile.

"Thank you so much for your concern," he replied, kissing my hand gently.

"Don't worry, I'll be visiting this place regularly to see you," I said before finally leaving him behind and walking away with Arianna.

"Excuse me, my princess, but the Alpha will not tolerate the attention you are giving that young man," Arianna warned me as I looked at her with a smile.

Although her words didn't upset me, I didn't feel like smiling either. However, I chose to simply ignore her warning.

Arianna led me to the dining room since it was nearly my first time dining there. As we entered, I noticed Diana staring at me intensely, as if she were trying to intimidate me. However, I had learned to deal with her by simply ignoring her presence.

"Please have a seat, Arianna," I said as I sat down and tapped one of the dining chairs, prompting her to look at me in surprise.

"What's going on, Lucia?" Dianna shouted at me, causing me to stare at her in shock.

"I don't understand what you're talking about," I replied, as she angrily hit her hand on the table and looked up at my dad.

"I can't believe what Lucia is trying to do!" She exclaimed, looking extremely angry. I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted to slap Arianna, as she looked like she was about to lose her temper.

"Lucia, this is our family dining table. What are you thinking?" My father asked in a low voice, looking at me.

"Dad, there's nothing wrong with Arianna joining us for dinner tonight," I replied, looking up at him.

"I have to say, Ariana has been incredibly kind and is my closest friend at the moment," I began saying, but before I could finish my thought, Diana interrupted me as if I were reporting to her.

"No matter what, Ariana should not enter this room!" Diana shouted, prompting my father to intervene.

"Diana, be quiet!" he yelled at her, and she immediately fell silent, shooting a hateful glare at Ariana before slowly retaking her seat.

Alpha Jesse looked up at me with a calm voice and said, "Lucia, I couldn't have accepted your request, especially not at this time."

Confused, I shrugged my shoulders and asked, "Why? What's wrong with now?"

"I need to speak with you and Diana alone," he replied, and suddenly I understood. I looked over at Arianna, who was already looking quite tense.

Knowing that Diana's presence may be making Ariana uncomfortable, I decided to let her off the hook. "You can go," I said to her.

"Thank you," she replied with gratitude before hurrying out of the room. With her gone, I could finally focus on enjoying the dinner.

I picked up my spoon and began to eat. The food was incredibly delicious, but to be honest, nothing could compare to my mother's cooking. She was undoubtedly the best.

Although I wouldn't criticize the chef's efforts, the meal wasn't as good as my mother's cooking.

Alpha Jesse spoke up, catching my attention. "This is the perfect time to inform you all about our guest," he announced. I looked up at him, wondering who he was referring to.

As I glanced over at Diana, it was clear that her mind wasn't focused on what Alpha Jesse was saying. She remained visibly angry, her attention elsewhere.

I had a question to ask, but since my father was still speaking, I decided to wait and let him finish.

"Do you know who I am referring to? The long-awaited guest," he asked, and I looked at him in silence, still trying to understand.

But I was shocked to see Diana, on the other hand, covered her mouth in excitement.

Diana couldn't contain her excitement. "Don't tell me it's him," she exclaimed, as I continued to watch them both.

"Of course, it's him. Alpha Jackie is coming to celebrate the full moon with us," Alpha Jesse replied, causing Diana to scream with delight.

"Oh, yes! I can't wait to become his mate," she exclaimed, while I put my spoon down.

"Sorry, but who is Alpha Jackie?" I asked, causing my father to turn and look at me.

"One of the most powerful Alphas to have ever existed, popular and famous, and the dream of every lady," Alpha Jesse said, catching my attention.

Based on Jesse's description, the Alpha in question must have been exceptionally handsome.

"Okay," I responded, choosing to focus on my food since it was none of my business.

"I, too, would be pleased to meet him," I added, looking at my father.

"Meet who? You wouldn't dare step close to him, he's mine!" Diana exclaimed, leaving me in shock.

I couldn't help but wonder who she was referring to and why she was so possessive. How could I possibly be competing with someone I hadn't even met, especially since I had already found my own mate?

Without saying a word to her, I simply focused on my food, keeping my attention away from her unnecessary drama.

"I'm so glad! I'll finally be leaving this house. I'm sure the devil isn't happy about it," she said, referring to me, but I chose to ignore her.

"Actually, Diana," Alpha Jesse interjected.

"Yes, Daddy," she replied, giving our father a rare smile, this was the first time I have ever seen her smile.

"You should be aware that the betrothal has changed," he announced, causing me to look up at him in shock.

As soon as he made that statement, Diana's smile disappeared.

"I don't understand, Dad. What do you mean?" Diana asked, visibly confused and frustrated. Meanwhile, I continued eating my meal, seemingly the only one enjoying it.

"It's actually Lucia who is supposed to be mated to him," Alpha Jesse clarified, causing me to set down my spoon and give him my full attention.

"What the hell! Why?!" Diana screamed, pushing her food away from the table, causing it to fall and scatter.

"Diana, it was my first daughter who was destined to be his mate. I wanted you for him because you were the only one, but now we have Lucia, and I..." Alpha Jesse trailed off as Diana angrily stormed out of the dining area.

I sat there staring at my father, still trying to make sense of what had just happened, and he stared back at me.

"She's taking everything away from me! You're giving her everything that's rightfully mine! She must pay for this!" Diana's voice could be heard even after she had left the dinning room.

"I'll explain," Alpha Jesse said, realizing that I was lost and confused.
