Chapter 87 Finally listening
Third person POV
Hazel was still unconscious, stuck with her powers staring her in the face and judging her hard.
“What do you expect me to do? How exactly am I supposed to control my heart”?
She asked and now, her powers went silent. The air felt heavy with thoughts as they both stayed for a while, trying to figure out how to stop her from losing control.
“Why was I given the orb if it's such a bad thing”?
She asked but Dove looked at her seriously before answering.
“Just because something is powerful and helpful doesn't mean it is good. But just because it has negative effects doesn't mean it is completely bad either.
This is supposed to help you win the war against Rave and if we are being honest, ever since it was activated, you are a long more powerful and stronger than ever before.
All we need to do is to find a way to keep it in check and stop it from taking control over you”.
Hazel sighed, she wasn't sure how she was going to do that but she was ready to try regardless.
Her family and the people around her was all she cared about. If she couldn't protect them, then she didn't really see the point.
“From what I've seen, it is mostly triggered when you are. It takes control when your emotions are over the roof and high”.
Dove spoke, breaking Hazel from her thoughts.
“Fine, so I just have to keep my emotions in check”?
She asked and Dove nodded.
“That… and we also have to be vigilant. We need to watch and see what else triggers it into taking control and from there, we can fix it”.
Dove added and Hazel immediately nodded.
“You need to learn to remain in control Hazel. It might be your heart, but you can't let it overshadow you”.
Hazel nodded, she wasn't taking her words lightly, she wasn't going to become what her family dreaded or hated.
“Don't worry Dove. I won't let you down, I will make sure I don't lose myself”.
She said and Dove nodded.
Kael had gotten her home but even Dona didn't know what kind of magic was used on her.
It almost felt like she was put in an eternal slumber that no one except the one who put her in it can undo.
“You're saying she can't wake up”?
Kael asked but Dona shook her head.
“I don't know, I've never seen or heard of a magic like this. It almost doesn't feel like magic at all because of how strong it is”.
She added but Kael didn't give any reaction. He remained silent like he was short of words and out of choices.
He looked helpless. He knew there was a lot going on with her but seeing her like this made him feel worse than ever. He hated to see her look so helpless and now, all he could pray for was for her to wake up.
“I knew it was a bad idea. It was too easy to be true and now look. The only person who can end this isn't moving”.
Zariel said. Not angry, not irritated, just honest.
“We couldn't just leave Lucian with her”.
Miguel said and Zariel nodded.
“I know that, but she shouldn't have gone alone. After she broke into the barrier, she should have tried to take someone else with her. That's what partnership is about, that's what it means to have a team to yourself.
She is so eager to get things done, she forgets she is not alone”.
He said and now, he was getting irritated.
“I can't help her if she keeps being stubborn and doesn't even listen to me. What's the point of helping her if she's only going to keep repeating the same mistake”?
“Can you stop yelling”?
As soon as the heard that weak voice, they all turned to look at her and her eyes slowly opened as she looked around.
“You're very loud when you're mad”.
She said as a very faint smile appeared on her face.
“You're awake”.
Kael said as he rushed to her and she nodded with a smile. She looked around, and Kael seemed to have noticed what she was looking for.
“He passed out, so I had the maid take him to his room to sleep.
Don't worry, there are enough guard stationed in his room to alert us if anything happens”.
He said and Hazel nodded before she tried she sit up.
She yelped a bit as the wound on her back had not healed yet.
It was taking so long because the wound was caused with a magical dagger.
“How are you feeling”?
Kael asked but Hazel simply nodded before she turned to Zariel.
“How do I control the orb”?
She asked and he creased his brows as he didn't think that would be the first thing she would ask as soon as she woke up.
“Are you really going to listen to me”?
He asked and she nodded.
“I'm ready to do anything to keep the orb in check.
If it is a part of me, I should learn to control it”.
She said and he nodded, looking pleased and a bit relieved that she was finally agreeing to listen.
“When do you want to begin”?
He asked and she looked at Kael.
She could see the worry written all over his face.
She could tell he was scared for her. She needed time to convince him that she was strong enough and ready enough to learn.
“I'll begin as soon as my wound heals”.
She said and Zariel nodded.
“Get some rest, we'll check up on you later”.
Hazel nodded and soon, they all left, leaving just her and Kael in the room.
She looked at him for a while before gently patting the side of the bed close to her.
“Sit with me”.
She said and he sighed before he went over to sit with her.
After he had sat, she placed her head on his shoulder and stayed silent for a few seconds before she spoke.
“You look like you have a lot to say”.
