Chapter 54 Facing challenges
Raising her head, she tried looking at the man but his face was buried in the dark.
“We need to go, Kael is on his way”.
She flung her hand away from his and yelled.
“I'm not going”!
She said and looked back at Hazel.
“This face…”
She said poking Hazel's face harshly.
“… is mine”.
She said so seriously.
“Everything that is in your body, is mine. And I'll have it all Hazel. You had better pray you find the orb before i do”.
She said and Azrael who was in the dark grabbed her hand and vanished with her just before Kael walked into the room.
He rushed towards her and hugged her tight.
“Are you okay? Did she hurt you”?
He asked but she shook her head.
He moved behind her and untied her, surprising her with how easily the rope suddenly came off but she simply felt it was because Rave was gone.
“Where is she”?
He asked and Hazel who knew exactly what he was talking about immediately shook her head.
“She's gone”.
She said and he sighed before he carried her out.
It was only after Hazel was brought out that she realized where she was.
She was indeed in Kael's lands but she was in the woods. Kael has an underground space where he kept people who he wanted to torture and of course, Cathy knew about this place as she brought people to him often.
That was one of the clues Kael used to find Hazel.
He soon got to their room and dropped her gently on the bed.
She had bruises on her hand because of how tightly she was tied up and how much she struggled to escape.
“Are you okay”?
He asked and she nodded.
“Where is Lucian”?
She asked and just then, the door opened and Lucian rushed in.
Hazel hugged him as she sighed in relief.
“I'm glad your okay”.
She whispered as she kept kissing him all over his face.
“Mummy, where did you go”?
He asked and she looked at him for a while.
“Everyone was looking for you”.
He added.
“Uhm… I was taking a walk and got lost. Silly mummy right”.
She said joking, trying to make sure her son wasn't worried but he shook his head.
“It's fine mom, anyone can get lost. It's fine as long as your okay”.
He said and she smiled before kissing his forehead and hugging him tight.
It was already pretty late so Lucian had to go to bed but Hazel insisted she wanted to sleep with Lucian tonight.
Kael agreed but he couldn't bring himself to sleep apart from her, so he suggested Lucian sleeps in their room for the night.
“Really"?
Lucian asked extremely excited.
“Yay!! I'm sleeping with mum and dad”.
He said, jumping in excitement.
After a while, Kael noticed they were both fast asleep but he couldn't bring himself to sleep at all.
He stood up and went to a chair to sit, just looking at the moon and wondering what was coming next.
Today he almost lost Hazel, what happens if she doesn't get the chance to call for him next time.
He was still thinking when he heard someone speak behind him.
“It's time for you to start taking action”.
He turned, only to see Lucifer.
“The only way to put your enemies in their place is by instilling fear.
Let them know you're not one to be messed with”.
He said and Kael remained silent just thinking.
“Rave is strong, and the only person who can end her is Hazel but Rave is not the only enemy you have to deal with”.
He said and Kael sighed, knowing that was true.
He still has the rogues, alpha Devon and the vampires he wasn't even sure of.
And just like that, Lucifer was gone.
Kael was so deep in thoughts, he didn't hear Hazel call him.
Hazel had to come down from the bed and tap him gently to bring him back to reality.
“Are you okay”?
She asked and he sighed as he used his hand to wipe his face.
“I'm fine”.
He said and gently pulled her to sit on his lap while he rested his head on her chest.
“I'm glad you're safe”.
He said but she said nothing. She simply placed her hand on his head, caressing his hair gently.
She was sure he had a lot to think about and so did she.
She felt there was so much more to what was happening than they both knew.
She was curious to know why Rave kept insisting everything that was hers truly belonged to her.
She knew Rave wasn't just spewing words, there had to be a reason behind it, but she wasn't sure what.
Kael tightened his hand around her waist and snuggled even more into her blossom as he let out a heavy sigh.
“I'm truly glad you're fine. I would never be able to live with myself if something happens to you”.
He said but she remained silent for a while before she spoke.
“Kael”?
She called and he raised his head and looked at her.
“Someone is helping her. Someone stronger than her”.
She said and he raised a brow.
“What do you mean”?
She sighed and looked at him seriously.
“Before your mom died, she muttered two words to me 'burn and tattoo' I saw it today".
She said but he remained silent, just listening to her.
“Someone was in that space with me and Rave. And it was that same person who alerted her about your coming.
I couldn't see his face but his presence alone showed how powerful he is”.
She said
“Could you smell out his powers? Did he smell like a vampire”?
He asked but she shook her head.
“More like a deity. Something immortal… like Lucifer".
She said and his brows twitched.
“You think Lucifer is helping her"?
He asked but she shook her head.
“No, I've met Lucifer well enough to know it wasn't him.
This was someone else. Someone who felt a lot more evil than the devil”.
