Chapter 37 An uninvited guest
Kael woke up first but he couldn't stop looking at her.
He stood up a little, using one of his hand to support his body so he could see her face more clearly.
Seeing her sleeping so peacefully made him smile, happy she didn't look like she regretted anything they did last night.
His fingers traced her cheeks a little, causing her to groan as she turned to him.
Slowly, she began to open her eyes.
She blinked a little, seeing Kael staring right at her.
“Good morning”.
He said with a smile but she immediately gasped and picked up a pillow, hitting him hard on the face, causing him to lose his balance and fall to the ground. She sat up, covering herself with the bed cover.
Kael chuckle still sitting on the floor as he looked at her.
“For someone who was begging last night, you're pretty aggressive this morning”.
He said and her eyes opened wide before she quickly used the sheets to cover herself entirely.
Kael smiled, noticing she was just shy. He got back on the bed and hugged her while she was still covered.
She looked so little in his arms but she didn't move an inch and Kael loved it.
“Wanna go another round”?
He asked teasingly and she hit him from under the sheets, causing him to laugh as he heard her groan continuously.
Getting off the bed, he looked at her and spoke.
“I'll be heading to the South boarder today, I need to see what's going on there myself”.
He said and Hazel pulled the sheets just a little below her eyes.
“I need you to take care of yourself while I'm gone".
He said suddenly looking serious, causing her to forget about her shyness as she dropped the cover to her chest and nodded.
“I'll be fine, you should go”.
She said but instead of him to leave, he moved closer to her and kissed her lightly on her lips and moved just a few inches away.
“I'll be back as soon as I can”.
He said but she smiled.
“Nothing is going to happen to me Kael, go and do what you have to do”.
She said and he nodded before heading to the bathroom.
After a while, he left and Hazel also went ahead to take a shower.
Leaving her room, she saw Dona coming out of the room with Lucian.
“Mummy”!
Lucian yelled as he began running towards Hazel.
Hazel smiled happily, spreading out her hands and waiting for him to get to her.
Soon, he enveloped her in a hug.
“Ohh my cute little munchkin”.
She said, plastering his face with kisses.
Lucian smiled before looking towards her door.
“Where's daddy”?
He asked and Hazel also looked at the door before looking back at him.
“Daddy had to step out very early”.
She said and noticed his face drop.
“Oh come on, don't you want to hang out with mummy”?
She asked jokingly but it didn't uplift his mood.
“Daddy plays with me more".
He said and she sighed and dropped him.
“Fine then, I'll just get myself a daughter to play with me while you play with daddy”.
She said and Lucian looked at her, suddenly so happy, so much that Hazel was surprised.
“I'm getting a sister”?
He asked and she raised a brow.
“Huh”?
She asked.
“You just said you'll get a daughter, which means I'll have a sister”.
He said and began jumping.
“I can't wait, I can't wait”!!
Dona soon got to them with a smile and Hazel looked at her with shock as her lips were slightly parted.
“Who would have thought the idea of having a sibling would make him so happy”?
Dona said but they both got startled when Lucian immediately yelled
“NO”!
He said making them look at him wondering why he was suddenly against the idea.
“I want a sister, not a brother”.
Hazel just kept looking at him before scoffing in disbelief.
“Waw, he's even being specific”.
Hazel shook her head and spoke.
“You're speaking from boredom. Don't worry, you'll soon begin school”.
She said and he opened his eyes.
“School? I don't want to”.
He said but Hazel simply turned and began walking downstairs.
“Mom, I hate school, it's boring”.
He said but Dona spoke.
“Your new school will be more fun, it's not like the one in the village”.
She said and he sighed as he looked down, obviously not convinced.
Immediately they got downstairs, a maid rushed to Hazel.
“Why are you in such a hurry”?
Hazel asked.
“Luna… your… your sister said she'd kill the headmaid if you don't come out to see her”.
She said and Hazel raised a brow, every ounce of happinesses vanished from her face and was immediately replaced with a seriously pissed face.
Walking past the maid, she walked out and indeed, Raina had the headmaid in her grip with a dagger by her throat.
“What do you think you're doing”?
Hazel asked and Raina looked at her before she smiled.
“You finally came out. I've been here a couple of times you know”.
She said moving two steps closer.
“I told them I was your sister, but for some reason, they wouldn't let me fucking see you”!
She sounded crazy but Hazel had a calm and nonchalant look on her face.
“No healer is attending to mom, everyone looks at us like outcasts”.
She said
“And what exactly does any of that have to do with me”?
Hazel finally asked and Raina tilted her head with a brow raised.
“What? What does it have to do with you”?
She asked and Hazel nodded.
“Mnn, that's you and your mom's business, why are you trying to push me into your mess”.
She asked and the dagger against the headmaids neck tightened, slicing into her neck a little.
“All this”!!
“Is because of you”.
She said and Hazel smiled.
“You really enjoy putting the blame on other people don't you? You and your parents said whatever it is that got you what you deserved.
Stop barking in front of my house like some lowly bitch”.
She said and Raina smiled.
“Just remember I came to you, you pushed me Hazel”.
She said but just when she was about to slit the woman's throat, Cathy kicked her from behind and Hazel rushed over, pulling the woman away from her grip.
The speed in which it happened caused only Raina to fall to the ground.
