Chapter 24 Do you hate him?
Hazel has always being captivated by Kael's unrealistic beauty but seeing him in the position they were in made it harder for her to control herself.
She was trying so hard to remind herself that she was still mad at him for what he did to her back then but she was beginning to wonder if she was actually mad at him.
She couldn't help but keep thinking about how he defended her yesterday and that look in his eyes when he turned to look at her. That was a look of reassurance, it felt like he was trying to tell her he wasn't going anywhere ever again.
Kael slowly opened his eyes, looking towards the ceiling before looking at her. The way he looked at her made her blink numerous times before she tried to stand up again. This time around, the way he pulled her back made her lip come in direct contact with his, and Hazel's eyes immediately opened wide as she instantly raised her head a bit.
“You… why did you pull me back”?
She asked and he smiled lightly as his hand moved a bit on her back, intensifying the already obvious mate tension.
“Kael…”
She called a bit more calmly as she looked at him trying to calm her heartbeat.
“Was that a mistake”?
He asked jokingly referring to the kiss and she immediately moved away, causing him to smile.
“Stop teasing me”.
She said looking at him still lying on the bed with a smug smile on his face.
He sat up with his legs on the floor as he held her hand, trying to bring her closer to him.
“I know I said I wasn't going to rush you, but five years without you was already so much torture”.
He said and his hands slowly went to her waist, pulling her even more closer.
“I want to make this work Hazel. I'm ready to work at your pace, I just want to know I stand a chance”.
He said, looking up to her like a kid begging for a sleepover. Hazel remained silent, her wolf kept yelling inside her head.
“Bitch you had better give him an assuring response or I'm coming the fuck out”.
Her wolf, Dove was a pretty vulgar and straightforward one, the very opposite of her name and Hazel loved it that way.
They met months after she left Nightshade pack and since then, she has been the inseparable part of Hazel. A part she has always loved but is still trying to understand.
Hazel sighed, as she looked away before looking back at him.
“I'm not sure about this Kael…”
She paused and noticed his hold on her waist had weakened a bit.
“I'm not sure I can look past the fact that you could easily doubt and leave me again, but…”
She said and he looked at her, hoping for something positive, something he could work with.
“I'm willing to try… I want to try. Not just for Lucian, but for myself too”.
She said and Kael immediately stood up and looked at her with a soft smile.
“I'm never going to hurt you again Hazel, not even if my life is on the line”.
He said and she exhaled in some sort of relief before she nodded.
He looked at her as she looked up to him because he was a lot more taller than she was.
The stare intensified as time moved by and he began to bend his head, moving closer. Hazel wanted to move away, she wanted to push him and walk out of the room but she just couldn't.
When their lips were just an inch away from each other, he looked away from her lips and at her eyes and seeing as her eyes were fixed on his lips, he smiled slightly before capturing her lips in his.
One of his hand went behind her waist while the other held her neck while his thumb caressed her cheeks.
Hazel's lips opened slightly, granting Kael's tongue access into her mouth, causing her to moan lightly.
That felt like an alarm as it immediately brought her back to her senses.
Pushing him away, she covered her mouth with her hand in shock as her eyes opened wide.
“What… what… what… what do you think you're doing? Why did you push him”!
Dove yelled but Hazel ignored her and ran out.
“Stop running Hazel"!!!
After Hazel left, Kael kept looking at the door as a smile appeared on his face.
“Easy now, we don't want to push her away again”.
He said, talking to his wolf, Zach who also wanted to just take all of Hazel for himself.
Kael and Zach weren't in much of a disagreement as they both wanted her but unlike Zach, Kael wasn't going to push her until she was actually ready.
Hazel finally got to Lucian's room but only Dona was there. Dona turned to Hazel with a shocking look on her face.
“What's going on”?
Dona asked but Hazel was lost in a daze as she kept touching her lips with her finger.
Dona moved closer to her and asked.
“Did you guys kiss"?
She asked and Hazel's eyes opened wide as she looked at Dona and scoffed nervously.
“What? Of course not, I don't know what you're talking about. Why would I kiss him”?
She asked, walking past Dona and going to sit on the bed. Dona smiled and went to sit next to her.
“That's a lot of no's for just one simple question”.
She said causing Hazel to turn to her.
“You guys kissed, didn't you"?
She asked again and now, Hazel couldn't deny it as she nodded shyly.
Dona tried to stay serious but the look on Hazel's face made her laugh hard.
“Hey, stop laughing will you? I don't know what to do”.
She said and Dona nodded, trying to stop laughing. After a while, she asked.
“Why do you look so worried about it? If I were you, I would have done a lot more than kissing on my wedding night”.
She said and Hazel hit her jokingly causing her to laugh.
But after a while, she got serious.
“You're married to him now Hazel. I know you only did it because of what's going on, but taking full advantage of it and doing what you want to do doesn't sound like such a bad idea to me”.
She said and Hazel went silent.
“I know you still like him”.
Dona suddenly blurted out, causing Hazel to look at her with her eyes opened.
“You kept insisting you were mad at him but never did you say you hate him.
Isn't it because you still have feelings for him”?
