Chapter 119 Another chance, another choice

Chapter 119 Another chance, another choice
Carina looked very surprised.

“What?”

Her words came out pretty sharply, showing how shocked she was.

He leaned backwards and smiled.

“Calm down, Carina. I'm not asking you out or anything like that; I'm just telling you how I feel.

I… want to get to know you better from now on.”

Carina blinked several times as she kept looking at him.

“I was not expecting this.”

He nodded with a smile on his face.

He was about to speak again when Kalia suddenly arrived with her bike.

“Thank you for offering, but I already have a ride.”

He turned to Kalia, then back to Carina, and nodded.

“Of course, I'll see you some other time.”

She nodded subtly, still showing her shock before getting on Kalia's bike.

“What was that?”

Kalia asked as soon as they were away from him, and Carina shook her head. Even she wasn't sure what that was about.

She knew Derek Voss; she had known him for a while, but only as a pack member.

She had seen him in a few werewolf events since he was the same age as Lucian, but they never spoke, so hearing him say he had feelings for her out of the blue did not really make sense to her.

When they finally got to school, Kalia took off her helmet and looked at Carina again.

Carina knew she wanted answers.

“I don't know, Kalia… he suddenly came over this morning and confessed he had feelings for me.”

Kalia's eyes opened wide, and unlike the reaction Carina was expecting, Kalia was actually smiling.

“Are you serious? Derek is interested in you?”

Carina looked at her suspiciously, her eyes looking at Kalia from head to toe and back.

“Mnmm, why do you look so excited?”

Kalia held her hand and dragged her so they could get a place to sit.

“Well, he is very decent, and very, very good-looking.

You would have noticed him if you were not so blinded by my brother.

He has had a crush on you for so long.”

Carina scoffed.

“What are you talking about? We never even spoke before now.”

Kalia raised her hand and waved it in Carina's face.

“You both did; you just didn't pay much attention to him, and dismissed him every single time.

You might be the only one who doesn't know he likes you.”

Carina blinked several times as she listened to Kalia.

She had actually never paid attention to any other man besides Lucian, so she couldn't really argue it.

Meanwhile, Lucian was sitting in the living room, with Ava beside him. But he was barely hearing anything she was saying.

His mind was somewhere else completely.

His eyes were fixed on the other side of the room, but he wasn't looking at anything in particular.

'Carina…'

That was the name that clouded his thoughts. He wanted to stop thinking about her, but he just couldn't, no matter how hard he tried.

Seeing her smile so hard with someone else made his skin crawl so badly.

Ava noticed and called him back to herself.

“What's wrong? You've been out of it since yesterday.”

Lucian shook his head.

“I just have a lot on my mind; it's nothing you should be worried about.”

Ava suddenly put on a pitiful face, looking like she was about to cry.

“You don't love me anymore, do you?”

He turned to her so fast, wondering where that was coming from.

“Why would you think that?”

She wiped the tear she had managed to force out of her eyes.

“I'm not dumb, Lucian; your heart is not with me anymore. And although I don't know who you're thinking about, I know you've put me in the background.”

She moved a bit closer and wrapped her arms around his, making sure she was close enough to make her chest touch his arms.

“Is it… because of Kalia?”

He raised a brow, wondering why she was suddenly bringing Kalia up now.

“If that's the case, I will try harder to get her to like me.

I'm already trying; it's just a bit harder than I thought it would be.”

Lucian moved away from her and placed his hand at the back of his neck, rubbing his neck gently while his second hand was on his waist.

“Urm… I need to be somewhere; I'll talk to you later.”

For some reason, for the first time since he met her, he felt irritated by her actions.

He couldn't explain it since he had always liked her being close to him. But this time felt different; he just couldn't bring himself to like her being so close to him at all.

After Lucian left the living room, Ava sat properly and closed her eyes, resting her head on the couch.

“Urghh… just one more week, Lucian, don't make it so hard for me.”

She said silently.

“One more week for what?”

She immediately opened her eyes and turned toward the voice.

She stood up so fast and bowed.

“Father, I… I didn't know you were back.”

Kael could not help but feel that her act was so fake.

“Don't call me father; we are not family yet.”

She raised her head to look at him before looking back down.

Kael didn't say anything else before he walked upstairs.

Ava raised her head, and she looked obviously pissed.

“Not family?”

She scoffed

“We'll keep it that way.”

After Kalia and Carina were done with school, they just walked out of school and were about to get on the bike when Kalia suddenly tapped Carina.

Carina turned to he'd and eventually followed her eyes till she saw Derek.

“Do you think he's here to see you?”

Carina shook her head.

“It doesn't matter; let's go.”

Kalia held Carina's hand when she noticed Derek walking towards them.

“You have nothing to lose; just give it a chance, talk to him, and then you can decide if you want anything more or not.”

At this point, Derek had gotten to them, and Carina sighed.

“Hello ladies, can… I take Carina home?”

Kalia turned and nodded immediately.

“Of course, I actually have somewhere I need to be urgently.”

She smiled at Derek and took off, leaving Carina.
