Chapter 72
Months later.......
My stomach tightened again with a powerful contraction, and I squeezed Dominic's hand until my knuckles turned white. Despite the searing pain, I shot him a withering glare.
"You did this to me...again!" I growled through gritted teeth. Sweat beaded on my brow as the cresting wave finally subsided.
Dominic had the sense to look somewhat chagrined, though a proud gleam still danced in his eyes. "You're bringing our children into this world, my mate. Our perfect little miracles."
"Easy for you to say," I spat, leaning back against the propped clinic bed. "You don't have to push two tiny werewolves out of your body!"
As if on cue, another crushing contraction seized me. I clutched at the sheets, a feral cry of agony tearing from my throat. The healers bustled around urgently, offering words of encouragement that fell on deaf ears.
"You're doing so well, Freya," Dominic murmured, smoothing the damp hair from my face. "Our family is almost here."
White-hot rage flashed through my pain-addled mind. "If you think I'm doing this again after this, you maniac, you're delusional!"
A fresh gush flooded the bed, and one of the healers cried out, "I can see the first pup crowning! Get ready to push, Luna!"
Dominic's eyes shone with unbridled excitement and love as he helped brace my shoulders. I steeled myself, blocking out everything but the thunderous urge to bear down with every ounce of strength.
Soon, the cries of my newborn son split the air. Then his brother followed shortly after in a rush of relief. As two perfect bundles were placed on my chest, Dominic was all but vibrating with happiness.
I cradled my precious newborn twin sons against my chest, gazing down at their perfect little features with immense joy. "They look just like me, don't they?" I said happily to Dominic.
He leaned in closer, his eyes shining with fatherly pride as he studied the infants before placing tender kisses on their foreheads and mine. "Indeed they do, my love. Two perfect little miracles."
Smiling softly, I glanced up at my mate. "What shall we name our strong Alpha heirs?"
Dominic contemplated for a moment, testing out names. "Ryan...and Dylan. The eldest is Ryan, powerful names befitting the next generation of our noble pack."
I repeated the names, liking the way they rolled off my tongue. "Ryan and Dylan. Well met, my sons."
Soon, the nurses came to assist me, and Dominic gathered up our newborn boys tenderly in his arms.
"I'll give you and our boys some private time," he murmured, pressing a loving kiss to my brow before stepping back.
As the nurses fussed over me, helping to clean up and make me comfortable, the door opened again. Mathew, my firstborn son, peeked his head in curiously.
"Mumma?" His eyes widened at the sight of his father holding the two blanket-wrapped bundles. "Are those...?"
Dominic and I beamed with maternal pride. "Yes, my darling. Come meet your baby brothers."
Mathew's face lit up with unbridled delight as he hurried to Dominic's side, craning his neck to get a better look at his newest siblings.
Dominic leaned in close, his warm breath tickling my ear as he whispered mischievously, "It's a lucky thing werewolves heal so quickly with our supernatural abilities. You'll be ready to try for another pup before you know it."
I shot him a glare, but he just grinned wolfishly, paying no mind to my warning look.
"I definitely want to keep going until we have a beautiful little Alpha daughter to spoil," he continued shamelessly. "No need to wait months like those poor humans."
Rolling my eyes, I opened my mouth to protest, but was struck by the surprising realization that I felt...absolutely no lingering pain or discomfort from the intense birthing I had just endured.
"See?" Dominic's smug tone pulled my attention back to him.
Part of me wanted to smack that cocky look right off his chiseled face. But another part had to admit, he did have a fair point about the advantages of our enhanced werewolf regenerative abilities.
I shook my head in mock exasperation, but couldn't help the small smile tugging at my lips as I took in the joyful scene of Dominic and Mathew doting over the newest additions to our pack. Perhaps I didn't need to decide on a timeline for our next pup just yet.
"Mumma, can we have a girl next?!" My four year old son Mathew questioned wide eyes, eager to hear my response.
"Of course, you won't have to wait long after all son." Dominic responded with a mischievous glint in his eyes.
I glanced towards the door seeing Alpha Scott, Michael, and my mom peeking in.
I glanced up as movement by the door caught my eye, seeing Alpha Scott and Michael standing there. I smiled warmly, signaling for them to come in and join us. They had traveled all the way from their pack just to welcome our newest pack members.
"Alpha Scott, Michael, come meet my baby brothers!" Mathew called excitedly, running over to greet them with a hug.
"Allow me to introduce Dylan and Ryan," I said, nodding towards the precious bundles cradled in Dominic's arms.
"Congratulations on the twins," Michael said with a genuine smile.
Alpha Scott stepped in closer, seemingly intent on getting a better look at the newborns. But Dominic suddenly let out a deep, vicious growl that made my eyes widen in surprise. Scott immediately backed off, hands raised in surrender.
I realized with a jolt that Dominic's wolf was taking over - that deep-rooted, primal instinct to protectively guard his offspring kicking in. His eyes blazed with territoriality, jaw clenched tight as a clear warning not to come too close.
Reaching out, I placed a calming hand on his arm. "Easy, my mate," I murmured. "They mean no harm."
Dominic's nostrils flared as he visibly fought for control over the possessive beast within. Finally, some of the tension seeped from his massive frame as rationality crept back in.
"My apologies," he ground out gruffly, though his hold on the twins didn't loosen an inch. "My wolf is...very protective right now."
Scott and Dominic exchanged an understanding look - they were alphas and knew the depths of that drive to shield newborn pups at all costs.
While part of me felt startled by Dominic's outburst, another part swelled with love for the ferocity he demonstrated in protecting our family. Such was the paradox of being mated to a powerful alpha male.
I lay back against the plush bedding as Dominic decided to go all out for my delivery of our son's, a serene smile playing across my lips as I watched the joyful scene unfold. Alpha Scott cleared his throat, a proud grin stretching his own features.
"Speaking of celebrations, my mate is also expecting our first pup," he announced.
"Congratulations, Alpha!" I wished feeling a rush of genuine happiness for them. A chorus of congratulations and well-wishes filled the room.
As the conversations and laughter swirled around me, my mind drifted, reflecting on how perfectly everything had finally fallen into place. Mother and Mia would be arriving soon to meet the newest members of our family, no doubt accompanied by Sage and her mate, Alpha Lucas.
My smile deepened as I remembered how I had used my abilities to purify Lucas and his pack - stripping away every vein of darkness until their souls shone with pristine light once more.
No longer were they the malicious forces they had once been, hellbent on causing chaos and destruction. Now they stood as our trusted allies.
Sage had gotten her sight back last month. Next month, she would welcome her own miraculous arrival into this world.
And Mia had gotten a second chance at another mate. She was happy. All the turmoil and pain of the past had melted away, leaving behind only domestic bliss.
A powerful sense of peace and belonging settled over me as I drank in the scene - my family, allies, and loved ones all thriving and happy together.
No more death, no more violence. Only love, abundance, and the boundless potential of this new legacy we were weaving together.
Everything was precisely as it should be.
I was pulled from my contented reverie by the sudden wails of one of the newborns. Dominic immediately snapped into protective mode, herding everyone out of the room with a few gruff words and stern looks.
"Out, all of you. My pups need peace and quiet," he rumbled, leaving no room for argument.
Once we were alone again, he carefully transferred the squirming bundles back into my arms. Immediately, the crying infant nuzzled against me, rooting instinctively. Dominic watched with a furrowed brow, his hand cradling the back of the pup's downy head.
"They need their mother's milk," he stated gruffly, as if I didn't already know. "Nourish them, my mate."
A small smile curved my lips as I expertly cradled the babies, guiding them to my bared breasts to nurse. They latched on eagerly, their whimpers quieting to sweet little suckling sounds.
Dominic hovered close, his eyes drinking in every moment with an intensity that should have felt stifling, but instead filled me with a glowing sense of security. Already, I could see the beginnings of him becoming an overly protective, fretful father.
Our powerful Alpha, the bold leader of our pack, was utterly defenseless against the irresistible pull of his offspring. These tiny pups would undoubtedly grow into spoiled daddy's boys without even trying.
As if reading my thoughts, Dominic's warm russet gaze met mine, overflowing with pure adoration. He leaned in to nuzzle the top of my head reverently.
"You've given me everything," he murmured roughly. "Our family, our future...my whole world lies cradled in your arms, my Luna."
Shifting slightly, I rested my cheek against his solid chest, letting the rhythmic thump of his heart lull me into a state of utter tranquility.
