Chapter 108
Tyler*
I approached Arya, the urgency in my steps matched the pounding of my heart. The forest around us whispered as the wind blew through the trees, its rustling leaves echoing the tension in the air.
"No!" I turned as I heard a loud feminine scream.
And there she was, a stark contrast against the darkness—naked and vulnerable, with crimson streaks marring her skin.
My gaze narrowed, taking in the sight before me. Cut wounds adorned her body, evidence of a fight.
She has transformed too. She was probably Alison and had fought with Ayra.
She knelt beside the lifeless form of Robert.
With a sense of purpose that bordered on desperation, I turned back to Arya. She needed medical attention as soon as possible. I'll deal with Alison later.
I ignored Alison's presence, her sorrowful wails fading into the background as I scooped Arya into my arms. She felt fragile against my chest, her heartbeat a slow rhythm against her chest.
I carried her towards my car, opened the passenger door of my car, and gently, I lowered her into the passenger seat, and secured the seat belts around her. I watched as she breathed slowly. Her wound was almost completely healed.
Closing the door with a soft click, I turned, only to find Alison standing behind me. Her transformation was swift, her body contorting in a blur of motion as fur sprouted from her skin, her bones shifting and cracking with the force of her change. Her once human form now twisted into that of a wolf, her eyes burning with a fierce hatred that matched the intensity of her growl.
I sighed, running a hand through my hair in frustration. Dealing with Alison was the last thing I needed right now.
"Save your strength for another day, Alison," I said, my voice steady despite the tension that coiled in the air between us. Ignoring her, I moved to the other side of the car, intent on getting Arya to safety.
But Alison wasn't finished yet. In a flash, she appeared in front of me, her snarl echoing in the stillness of the night. Her teeth gleamed in the dim light, with hatred in her dark yellow eyes.
"Don't walk away from me!" she spat, her voice dripping with venom. "How dare you! What gives you the right to think you could take every fucking thing from me and walk away so easily?"
"You really want to die today, don't you?" I growled, my patience wearing thin.
Before I could react, Alison lunged at me, her claws extended, her teeth bared in a silent promise of violence. But I was faster.
With a swift motion, I struck out, my fist connecting with her jaw with a force that sent her sprawling to the ground. She landed in a heap, the sound of her impact muffled by the soft earth beneath her.
As she staggered to her feet, I felt the familiar surge of power coursing through my veins, the telltale signs of my transformation beginning to take hold. My muscles bulged, my bones elongating as my body contorted and shifted, morphing into a creature of pure instinct and raw power.
Alison lunged at me again, her movements frantic and desperate, but I was ready this time. With a speed that defied human comprehension, I intercepted her attack, seizing her by the throat with a vice-like grip.
Her claws raked against my fur, leaving deep gashes in their wake, but I barely felt the pain. Adrenaline surged through my veins, dulling the sensation as I tightened my grip, crushing the life from her fragile body.
There was a sickening crunch as bone snapped beneath my fingers, the sound echoing in the stillness of the night like a morbid symphony. Alison's struggles grew weaker with each passing moment, her breath coming in ragged gasps as the light of life began to fade from her eyes.
With one final, desperate gasp, she went limp in my grasp, her body going slack as death claimed her.
With a heavy sigh, I released her, letting her lifeless body fall to the ground at my feet.
As I transformed back to my human form, I felt the familiar exhaustion wash over me. The shift from wolf to man usually left me drained, the toll it took on my body evident in the way my muscles ached and my head throbbed. But there was no time to dwell on my own weariness, not when Arya's life hung in the balance.
I turned and made my way back to the car. My hands trembled as I reached for the spare shorts I kept stashed in the trunk, hastily pulling them on as I slid into the driver's seat.
The leather interior felt cold against my skin as I started the engine, the roar of the car drowning out the sound of the night's wind. I glanced at Arya lying in the passenger seat, her chest rising and falling in shallow breaths. Relief washed over me as I realized she was still alive, her heartbeat a faint rhythm beneath my fingertips.
I checked her pulse again, just to be sure, as I sped out of the southern border towards the main street. Each passing moment felt like an eternity, the fear of losing her clawing at my chest. But as I felt the steady thump of her pulse beneath my touch, a small spark of hope ignited within me.
As a hospital came into view in the distance, I felt a surge of determination wash over me. I pushed the car to its limits, weaving through traffic with reckless abandon. Nothing else mattered in that moment except getting Arya the help she needed.
I brought the car to a screeching halt as I reached the driveway of the hospital, the tires leaving dark skid marks on the pavement. Then, I jumped out of the car, my heart pounding in my chest as I rushed around to the passenger side. Gently, I lifted Arya into my arms, cradling her against my chest as I closed the door behind me.
The hospital entrance was a blur of activity as I pushed my way through the doors, my eyes scanning the faces of the staff for help. "Get me a doctor," I yelled, seeking assistance.
The staff sprang into action, a blur of movement and noise as they rushed to assist me. A moveable bed appeared at my side, and together we transferred Arya onto it, the wheels squeaking in protest as we hurried down the hallways.
A nurse appeared at my side, her eyes wide with concern and recognition as she took in Arya's limp form. "We'll take care of her, Alpha," she assured me, motioning for a team to follow us.
As we made our way through the corridors, I felt a sense of urgency building within me. Every second that passed felt like an eternity, the fear of losing Arya consuming my thoughts. But as we reached the private room, a wave of relief washed over me.
I laid Arya gently on the bed, my hands lingering on her cold skin as I whispered reassurances into her ear. "You're going to be okay, Little One," I murmured, my voice thick with emotion. "I won't leave you, I promise."
