Chapter 106

Tyler.

The engine roared beneath me as I pushed the accelerator to the floor, the Aston Martin Vulcan responding with a surge of power that echoed my frustration. Ayra was out there, alone and vulnerable, and every second wasted felt agonizing.

As I weaved in and out of traffic, my knuckles turned white against the leather steering wheel. Each passing car was an obstacle in my path, a hindrance to my desperate mission. I cursed under my breath, the frustration boiling inside me threatening to spill over.

I glanced at the speedometer, willing the numbers to climb higher. The Aston Martin was a masterpiece of engineering, a beast of a machine capable of reaching speeds that lesser cars couldn't. But even now, it felt like it wasn't enough. I needed to go faster, needed to push the limits of what was possible.

A horn blared behind me as I swerved to avoid a truck, my heart pounding in my chest. The scent of burnt rubber filled the air as I slammed on the brakes, the tires screeching in protest. For a moment, everything seemed to hang in the balance, the world around me frozen in time.

My mind raced with thoughts of Ayra, her face haunting me with every passing mile. The thought of Alison and Robert attacking her and causing her pain again drove me crazy with frustration and anger.

Robert and Alison would pay for what they had done, of that I was certain. I should have looked harder for them. Ensured that they were no longer a threat to Ayra. I gritted my teeth, the anger boiling inside me.

The road stretched out before me like a lifeline, each mile bringing me closer to my destination. I could feel the tension in my muscles, the adrenaline coursing through my veins.

And then, finally, I saw it. The sign that marked the southern border. I pressed down on the accelerator with renewed determination, as I turned towards the border.

I veered off the road, the gravel crunching beneath my tires as I raced towards the forest.

With a jolt, I brought the car to a stop. Without a second thought, I leaped out of the car, my boots sinking into the soft earth. The forest was eerily silent, as if holding its breath in anticipation. With my heightened senses, I scanned the area, searching for any sign of Ayra. And then, I saw her.

She lay sprawled on the forest floor, naked, her body unnaturally still. She had a slowly healing wound at her side, her skin stained with her blood. My heart clenched at the sight, fear gripping me like a vice. I rushed to her side. She had transformed.

Her scent hit me like a wave, familiar and comforting yet tinged with the metallic tang of blood. My hands trembled as I reached out to touch her, afraid of what I might find. But as my fingers brushed against her skin, relief washed over me as I felt the steady thrum of her pulse beneath my fingertips.

She was alive.

But my relief was short-lived, overshadowed by the gnawing fear that clawed at my insides. Our child. What of our child?

I leaned in closer, my ears straining against the hush of the forest, searching for that tiny heartbeat, that precious rhythm that would assure me of our child's safety. And then, amidst the symphony of nature's whispers, I heard it. Faint, like the flutter of a butterfly's wings, but unmistakably there.

I let out a breath I hadn't realized I was holding, my shoulders sagging with the weight of relief. Arya and our child were alive. For now, that was enough.

But my moment of respite was shattered by the sudden intrusion of another presence. My head snapped up, my senses on high alert as I registered the figure looming in the shadows, his scent foreign and dangerous. Robert.

"Going somewhere, Alpha?" His voice was a low growl. "I have unfinished business with Arya. It's best you leave now. It's not your time to die. Don't worry, yours will come soon."

I rose to my feet slowly, my muscles coiling beneath my skin, ready to spring into action at a moment's notice. "So you are Robert," I greeted him evenly. "The one who's responsible for most of the pain my Luna has suffered."

"Well, I'm here to put her out of her misery," His lips curled into a sinister smirk, his eyes glinting with a feral hunger. "You should leave while you can, Tyler." he taunted, his voice a venomous hiss.

I met his gaze head-on. "You seem awfully confident for a wanted man," I snarled. I need to get Ayra to the hospital as soon as possible. "But as usual, you're a spineless coward, hiding behind empty threats and attacking a woman. Come now, don't be scared, let's get this over with."

Anger flashed across his features, his muscles tensing as he took a menacing step forward. And then, in a blur of motion, he transformed.

His body contorted and shifted, fur sprouting from his skin like a living shadow. His form elongated and twisted, the brown fur of his wolf form a stark contrast against the muted greens and grays of the forest.

But I was ready.

With a primal roar, I let the beast within me break free, my own transformation swift and seamless. My fur was a swirling mass of gray the color of the moonlight. And with it came strength and fury, raw and untamed, coursing through my veins like liquid fire.

As Robert closed the distance between us, I could see the fury burning in his eyes, his teeth bared in a savage snarl. But I refused to let his anger cloud my judgment. With a swift motion, I sidestepped his attack, my claws extended in a lethal arc that sliced through the soft flesh of his underbelly.

He howled in pain, the sound reverberating through the forest like a primal cry of anguish.

"Got any more words for me?" I snarled as I closed the distance between us with lightning speed. Robert staggered backward, blood gushing from the wound I had inflicted, but he refused to back down.

With a feral growl, he launched himself at me once more, his claws slashing through the air with deadly precision. But I was ready for him. With a fluid motion, I dodged his attack, my own claws finding their mark with ruthless accuracy. With a sickening crunch, I felt them sink into his chest, piercing his heart with lethal precision.

For a moment, time seemed to stand still as Robert's lifeless body crumpled to the forest floor, his amber eyes staring blankly into the night sky.
