Chapter 33 33
Chapter 33 33
Lacey’s POV
“I despise her so much,” I hissed, pacing the length of the meeting room. If anger could burn I’d burn the whole room. How dare Chloe embarrass me that way?
Andrea didn't say a word, she knew better than to, her gaze was fixed on the ground as they should be.
“Chloe undermined me in front of everyone,” I choked back the tears that threatened to fall. “As if I wasn't the queen and Luna of the Sander pack. Can you imagine, Andrea? In front of my people and her stupid people!”
She looked up at me, “My queen, don’t listen to her, she’s only pained because Alpha Henry chose you instead of her, that’s why she’s trying to provoke you and make you seem like you’re weak, but we both know you aren’t, she should have seen how you skinned Arya.”
I grinned evilly, “Yes, you’re right, I won and that’s why she’s angry, she wishes she was seated on this throne, she wishes to be in my place and that angers her, but I won’t let her take Henry, he belongs to me.”
Andrea pressed her lips in a thin line, she reached out for my arm, “You need to let her be, at least for now.”
I stopped pacing, “No, I won’t stop until I teach her a bitter lesson she’d never forget, and the witch is going to help with that, she seems knowledgeable!”
“But we can’t trust her..”
“I don’t, bring in the witch!”
Andrea blinked twice, “Right now?”
“Have you gone deaf?” I growled.
Andrea nodded and disappeared into the dark hallway, I sat on the throne waiting and after a few minutes, Andrea returned with two guards and they dragged in a little girl not older than thirteen, her wrists were bound with ropes, her eyes were white and drained as soon as our gaze met she smiled as if she’d just won a lottery.
“Nice to see you again, witch!” I snarled looking down at her. “How dare you kill one of my men?”
“They are weak!” She responded in a few words.
“Really?”I teased, “You should be punished.”
“Yes, maybe, but, you won’t, you still need me.”
I paused, “ Let’s get straight to the point, what do you know about my sister and her pack?”
The girl smiled, “ I can’t tell you yet!”
I squinted my eyes, “Do I look like I have time for riddles? If you value your head, you’d spill everything you know, I’m sure you know I show no mercy.”
She burst into a childlike yet scary laughter, then the laughter faltered immediately, and before my eyes, she transformed into the old witch.
Andrea widened her eyes in shock, she had never seen this in her life but I was used to this, I sat on the throne with a smile playing on my lips.
“Nice show, witch!” I purred. “Now get straight to the point!”
“I understand your anger, child, but I’m afraid I can’t tell you, it’s not yet time, but be assured, the witches are winning the battle, your sister might not survive this time.”
“What do you mean by that?”
All of a sudden, she began to cry blood.
This intrigued and annoyed me at the same time.
“Seriously?” I asked, totally fed up with his drama.
“Guards, take her way, make sure she suffers until she’s ready to be helpful.”
As they dragged her away, she screamed. “Lacey, she’s winning, and we are losing.”
I swallowed hard feeling weird for no good reason, her words shouldn’t have this much effect on me, but it did.
As soon as the door slammed shut Andrea turned to face me. “My queen… what do you think she meant by, she’s winning?”
“I don’t know and to be honest I don’t care to know, this might just be another witch playing tricks on me, and I hate tricks,” I said leaning against the iron chair.
“You’re right, Luna.”
“I’m always right, get me a glass of water, I’m thirsty!” I ordered Andrea and she handed me a goblet filled with water, I gulped it down my throat immediately.
I was about to command Andrea again when I heard the loud sound of marching feet just outside the door. I stormed out of the hall and to my surprise my eyes were met with soldiers, thousands of them all dressed and ready for war.
Andrea flanked me, “ What’s going on?” she asked.
“I don’t know, Andrea, I don’t.”
I saw Henry walk in, he seemed ready for battle too, his raven black hair was tied back in his usual style, he didn’t even spare me a glance.
I rushed towards him, “What’s happening? Where are you headed with the men?”
“Somewhere important,”
“You didn’t seek my permission.”
“I don’t need it, Lacey.”
I blinked twice, how dare he speak to me in such a manner?
“News flash, I’m your queen and I deserve to know what’s happening in the sander pack!”
“I’m going to fight for Alpha Cain, he needs us, I’m leading the first wave against the witches.”
“You can’t help them,” I said, my eyes pleading.
“Too late, I already pledged my allegiance to them!”
Before I could respond he and his men had stormed out leaving me once again with Andrea.
How dare he pledge his allegiance to Chloe Blueblood?
She was right, he was a dog who needed a leash.
Suddenly the witch's words echoed in my memories, ‘They are winning,’
My stomach curled immediately, “My Luna, what will you do?” Andrea asked, jolting me out of the trance I was in.
“I need to speak with the witch, she knows something.”
“We can’t trust anything that comes out of the witch's mouth…”
“Will you stop being stupid and do as I say?” I barked, she nodded, and just like that she disappeared.
Andrea returned a few minutes later, and I turned to face her, “Where is the witch?”
“She’d be here in a few minutes."
“Good, what’s taking her so long?”
“Apparently, they dealt with her so much that she passed out, they are trying to revive her.”
“I didn’t ask for them to kill her?”
“I’m sorry my lady, maybe they misheard you.”
Before I could utter any more words I felt a sharp sting in my chest, as if a knife was impaled in my heart.
I staggered gasping as if I had no air, the pain spread all over my body like a virus and instantly Andrea held me tight before I could fall.
“My lady,” Andrea shrieked, “ Somebody help me, the queen needs help!”
“I’m… I’m okay,” I managed to say but it wasn’t getting any better, at this point, I was wheezing, and I could barely breathe.
Then suddenly it was as if I wasn’t in the room anymore. It was as if I was in a trance, in a battlefield field and what I saw shocked me even more.
Bodies scattered everywhere, fire, blood, and wolves howling as they killed each other mercilessly.
I saw the little witch in their midst shedding tears of blood but she disappeared instantly, that’s when I saw her, Chloe.
Her clothes were stained with blood as she fought like a wild woman, showing no mercy.
How was this possible? How could I see all of these? Were they even real?
I sighted Henry too, he was fighting alongside the Blueblood, he’s protecting Chloe, he’s trying to save her life,
The pain increased and this made the vision disappear. I fell to the ground. Andrea placed a hand on my back, as I opened my eyes to see the man standing right in front of me with a bowl in his hand.
“My queen, what happened? We thought you died for a second?” Andrea said.
“I saw them….”
“Who?”
“I saw my sister, the battlefield, the witches… Henry…” I whimpered.
Andrea widened her eyes, “You saw all of that?”
“Yes, she's fighting like a god and she’s winning, just like the witch said.”
Andrea nodded, “Maybe the witch was right this time,”
“Where is the witch? Get the witch now?” I yelled.
“She’s still unconscious, but I’d check on her!”
“You don’t understand, she needs to tell me what’s going on, she knows everything!”I roared clutching onto my chest as I felt it tighten.
“She needs to be awake first,” Andrea insisted.
“I don’t care, I need her to be awake!”
Andrea nodded storming off, She returned a few minutes later, her face sad and wearisome.
“What’s going on? Where is the witch?” I asked impatiently.
“She escaped, she disappeared."
“That’s not possible, I need her, I need her to explain what’s happening, the vision, everything depends on her and if I don’t get her, it’s over for whoever beat her up to a pulp!”
She paused, “My queen, there’s nothing we can do at this point, if she’s gone…”
“No,” I cut her off, slamming my fist on the wooden table, “You don’t understand!”
“No, I don’t.”
“If Chloe is winning, then we’re next!”I griped.
