Chloe’s pov.

The night was pitch black, and only the flames from the bonfire brightened the place. The night was beautiful indeed, coupled with the strong scent that hit me, sending my wolf wild. It was meant to distract me, but instead, it led me to him.
Yes, to Alpha Henry Sanders. My fated mate.
Ex. Mate because he’s married to Lacey and she is his Luna now.

He was standing and hiding behind the pear tree like a coward. I wonder how long he’d been watching us and why he was even doing that?

As I was about to cross over to him, the wolf hit me harder again, like a force pulling me away from him. But no, I won’t let him slip away again. Besides, I need to know why he was here.
They say the fastest way to destroy someone is to watch them. What was the big idea?
So I first took down the guard protecting with a bow and lunged forward grabbing Henry by the neck. He was strong and buff but I’d been trained to deal with more men bigger than him.

Our eyes locked for a few seconds feeling the scent heighten like one who was hitting their climax. “Well well nice to see you again Henry,” I muttered my breath but I doubt he heard me.

“Laura….” He gasped.
“You are coming with me, you thought you could spy on us and go Scot free?”
“No… Laura, wait, I just need to speak with you.” He pleaded trying to wriggle out of my grip but instead, I tied his hand behind his back roughly almost cracking his bones, he yelled in agony.

Antonio joined me, always the observant one, I’m sure he noticed my absence and decided to find me, as if he knew I needed help doing these bastards down.
I kicked Scorpion, the fool was barely awake, his bruised face oozed with blood, maybe he’d fallen too hard and hit a rock, whatever the case was, he deserved it.
“What do we do with them? “Antonio asked.
“Let’s take them to the King, he’d be able to think of the best punishment for them,” I grunted winking at Antonio.

I tugged Alpha Henry towards the grand halls of the Blurblood territory, since he wanted to see what was in here badly. His prayer has been answered. Guards were guarding the door and as we approached they opened it, their eyes filled with amusement at the sight of Henry.
They couldn't understand why a King and Alpha were bound in chains. Well, they’d understand soon.
I pushed Henry forward, as I walked past whispers and murmurs of the pack warriors and elders, but as soon as I stopped right in front of Alpha Cain the silence ceased.
Alpha Cain sat upon the tribe confidently, he wore a crimson king's flowing robe with a surprised smile on his face, his grey eyes bewildered, and couldn’t comprehend what was going on. He rested an elbow on the armrest, his fingers drumming impatiently.

“My king…” I began forcing Alpha Henry to go on his knees before the king, I held a dagger to his throat, he yelped in pain but I couldn’t care less, Antonio on the other hand kicked scorpion to Henry’s side like a discarded trash.
“What’s going on here?” Cain demanded his baritone voice resound across the hall. “Will anyone explain what the heck is going on, Chloe?”
Alpha Cain's gaze rested on mine for a few seconds before shifting to Antonio.
“Why is the Alpha of the Sanders pack here, curled like a rogue?”
I cleared my throat staring at Alpha Henry, whose mouth was tied with a tape.

“That’s what I’m also trying to find out Sire, I caught this man, this alpha, lurking in the bushes watching us… No,” I paused, swallowing hard. “ He was spying on us, I have a feeling he’s trying to get intel on our pack so he can attack us with the tiny information he has. Well, I was fast enough to apprehend him and bring him to you, do I have your permission to slice his throat so he won’t leak whatever formation he has on us!”
I yanked off the tape from his mouth lifting his filthy face to mine. “ What do you have to say, Henry?”
As I stared into his eyes I felt nothing, which was strange because he was still my mate. I should have felt my wolf going wild like before but it wasn’t, instead hate spread through me like poison. Just staring at him reminded me of the rejection night.

“Please… Laura… I wasn’t spying, I swear it’s not what it seems like.” He begged.

I pressed the knife closer into his neck, “Shut up, you liar!”
Cain sat up, his smile disappearing. “This is unfortunate because Mercy isn’t my forte, yet it’s intriguing. Why would an Alpha abandon his throne, his pack to peep like a common thief in your neighboring territory? You could have easily sent a guard to do that.”

“May I speak to the king?” he asked but his gaze never left mine.

“Yes please, Alpha Henry.”

He wiped the beads of sweat on his forehead before clearing his throat. “ I know I shouldn't be here but I’ve come because there is an issue at hand, and this involves the wolves, because under the moon we are all brothers, we are all ones, whether alpha, omega, beta…”

Cain’s laugh cut him off, it was loud and taunting. “That’s very funny, Alpha Henry. You talk of equals when you are the one hiding in the shadows… that’s not an excuse for your dumb actions, a king will never act that way, only a false one.”

I rolled my eyes, feeling my patience running thin, I wrapped my hand around his throat, the dagger digging into his flesh until it sliced him a little. “Your time is running out, confess or I'll end you here and now, and your people won’t even search you.”

He gasped, “Please…. I’m here to only beg for your forgiveness, Chloe.”

I felt tears well up in my eyes, after all these years of rejecting me as his mate and choosing my sister instead of me, now he was finally apologizing, my grip tightened with anger. “ You owe Chloe no apologies.”

“You are right, I offended you, Laura… I’m really so sorry about that.”

“Why should I believe a word from your lying mouth? After you cast me aside like garbage? Like I didn’t matter?”

“I’m sorry Chloe but we shouldn't be fighting one another, our mutual enemies are the witches and their hunter allies, they are the ones….”
“With all due respect, Alpha,” Cain cut in rising gracefully from his throne. “ You are beating about the bush, first you were caught in the bush spying on us, now you are pleading for the princess's forgiveness, how should we even trust you?”
A bitter scoff rolled off my lips, “ I don’t trust him, so we shouldn’t, he rejected me. He was once my mate yet he severed the mate bond because he was lusting after my twin sister…” My words left everyone astonished. Finally, I’d confirmed the scandals going on for the past five years. “Give me the pleasure my king let me slit his throat in a clean cut.”

“No, guards throw in in the iron-barred cell and torture him till he sings a better tune.” Alpha Cain insisted.

Henry began to plead but it fell on deaf ears.

“Meeting dismissed, everyone return to your assigned posts and wait for my command,” Cain orders I was about to leave when he stopped me. “ Not you.”

Now that it remained just me and me, he sipped his red wine. “Are you truly serious about killing the Alpha of Sanders? That could cause a war with your sister? She’s still Luna.”
“Well, I don’t care, I'd crush her and her pack, I’d win her and decide whether or not to spare her wretched life.”I boomed.
“Easy, white chocolate,” he warned. “Pride goes before a fall.”
Just as I was about to retort, the door burst wide open, and a guard threw Henry to my knees again, this time his face was bruised. “ He says he has something important to say to you, my king.”
“Go on!” Cain said.
He smiled at me first, then his gaze shifted to Cain. “I want to offer the strongest of my men to you, Alpha king. I have ten thousand of them… every warrior will fight on your behalf. You might need some help in this war against the witches.”

I burst into laughter even the guards let out a low rumble of mocking laughter. But Henry kept a straight face. “I’m not kidding, I’m doing this to prove to Laura… sorry, Chloe, that I meant everything I said. I regret rejecting you, I was young and stupid… now I know better.”

“Well it’s too late to cry when the head is off,” I grinned bitterly.

“I also have one question for you, would you be my mate ?” He asked, smiling up at me.
Alpha Cain was stunned, and everyone was, including me.

Was this one of his pranks or was this truly genuine?
