CHAPTER 29

CHAPTER 29
“Evan, please come here.” I beckoned one of the pack guards as soon as I made sure that Raven had received medical help.

He is now being monitored by the pack doctor with guards at the door in case anyone returns for revenge.

There have been reports of human bodies found with marks on their bodies, some dead and some wounded. I have to take care of the situation before it all gets out of hand, just because Raven is not able to attend to it.

“Yes, Luna.”

“I need you to take two or three of the pack guards with you and clean up the mess in town. I need you to eliminate everybody you see, even if it’s not our problem. I don’t want anything tracing back to us, okay?” I commanded him in my Luna voice. He quickly submitted, nodding his head as he listened attentively.

“Get some of the pack members to be at the border. You can go, don’t leave anything behind.” I said as I turned around and walked back to the house. My mom was already standing outside with her hands on her waist, waiting for me.

“What is it, Mom?” I grumbled, annoyed, at her shooting daggers at me. “Why the fuck did you go there, Aine?“ I was about to ask where when I suddenly remembered what she was talking about.

“I can’t talk about this right now; I have things to do,” I said as I walked inside the house. She followed closely behind me. “Aine, he might have done something to you. What if something happens to you because of him?” I shrugged, my patience wearing thin.

“Then it’s fine, Mom. It's not like you care anyway,” I said as I threw myself on the couch, taking off my sneakers. “What does that mean?”

“It means, why are you still here? Don’t you have somewhere to be? You have been asleep for twenty-something years, Mom. But the first thing you did when you woke up was disappear on me. I guess Alaric found me in a very sensitive move and took me for granted. I’m sorry that you weren’t there to stop me.” I said my voice cracking at the end, I cleared my throat and sat back, taking a minute to collect my thoughts and relax.

“Blaming me for risking your life is stupid and not taking accountability, " she said with a stern voice. I looked at her in disbelief. “This has nothing to do with not taking accountability; I am telling you that you have never been a mother to me.”

“You have never bothered yourself about me, and now Alaric makes one human move in taking me to see his family; suddenly, you’re worried about me.” I continued. She sighed and sat on the couch opposite me, looking at me sadly.

“Aine, I’m sorry you feel that way, but I never intended to make you feel like I don’t care for you. I love you, I always have.” Unshed tears burned my eyes, and I felt overwhelmed. This is the first time I have heard her say these words.

“I’m sorry too,” I said in a small voice, feeling like I also overstepped a little with my words.

“I need you to be careful about that man, Aine. They are not what they seem. I need to go, go watch over your mate.” I rolled my eyes as soon as she spoke about leaving. What was I expecting from her? This woman just can’t seem to settle down.

“Your godmother has been extremely sick. Please come see her when you get a chance.” She said as she stood up, ready to go. I stood at her level, my heart thumping against my chest at this sudden news.

“What’s wrong with her?” I asked, scared of losing her. “How can I ever visit when the coven kicked me out?”

“I don’t know, but she’s getting worse every day. Come and see her. I will handle the rest.” She said with a teary face. “Mom, how bad is she?” She shook her head, then engulfed me in a hug.

“Please visit as soon as you get the chance.” I nodded with a heavy heart as I walked her to the door. She made her way to the car and drove away. I stood there for a minute debating what could be the issue with my godmother.

The last time I saw her, she was healthy and fine. What could be the reason that she is now extremely sick so suddenly and fast?

I went to the bathroom to take a shower and see Raven. I quickly finished and wore ripped jeans and a sweater; the November chill was getting worse. I exited the house and made my way to the doctor’s cabin.

“How is he?” I asked as soon as I entered the room. Raven was sleeping on the bed, lying on his back, and the doctor was busy with paperwork. “I’m fine,” Raven answered before the doctor could say anything.

I chuckled as I pulled a chair and sat next to the bed. He sat up and smiled at me. “The wounds have healed but not all of them, he just needs to rest so the body can heal.” The doctor answered, and I nodded.

“The silver that the perpetrator used got inside his blood so I have given him an injection to get rid of the silver, he will be fine soon enough.” I nodded once again and dismissed him.

“It must be nice being the Luna, you can dismiss people now,” Raven said laughing gesturing to the doctor who quickly walked out the door without a second thought. “You made me the Luna, what do you want me to do? But it is now having some power.” I said chuckling.

I have never had any sort of power ever since I was born, instead, I have always been the bullied one but now my fate has changed ever since I robbed an Alpha’s jewellery store.

“Raven…” I started to speak, wanting to apologise for everything that happened and explain my whereabouts. “No, don’t explain. Let’s just go home. I miss my bed.” I smiled and nodded. We walked home, and he jumped right into bed.

I looked at the time, and it read 15:50. I joined him before starting dinner. “I missed you, " he said as he pulled me closer to his t-shirtless body, kissing my forehead.

I kept quiet, too shy to admit that I also missed him, even though it was mere hours to me. “I’m sorry about how things happened before you left. Please forgive me.” I kissed him to shut him up because I couldn’t bear to think about how he broke my heart. It’s better to keep my mind busy.

“No,” He said softly pulling away from
the kiss. “Don’t do that.” He said, I rolled my eyes and lay back on the bed. “Don’t do what?” I asked pretending like I didn't know what his talking about. “Don't try to distract me from a serious conversation by kissing me.”

“I just don't want to hear you apologise about how badly you hurt me, let’s not talk about it,” I said huffing in anger.

I hate hearing about how a person intentionally hurt my feelings and they are sorry. Which never fixes anything, instead it hurts me more every time they talk about it.

“Okay, let’s cuddle then, and I am sorry though.” He said grabbing my waist and pulling me closer to him. “No, I need to get started on dinner so you can have something to eat. We have been looking for you for the whole day, and you haven’t eaten anything.”

“You don’t need to tire yourself with cooking, send one of the pack members in town for something to eat, baby.” I looked at him my lips slightly parted a bit taken aback by what his calling me. He has never called me like this before, but it does feel nice as hell.

“Okay,” I said as I lay back on his chest, within a few minutes I could feel my eyes getting heavy and I closed them drifting off.
