Chapter 108 Side Story 15

Chapter 108 Side Story 15
Jessica.

After a few moments of blissful silence, Devon lays me down, gently pulling out of me. A soft sigh escapes my lips as I cling to him, breathing in his scent, his body heat filling me with warmth.

The room is bathed in a soft, warm glow, the only remnants of a passionate moment we've just shared. Our breathing has slowed, our entwined bodies a testament to the intimacy we've just experienced. In the hush of the post-ecstasy silence, we lie together, limbs tangled, hearts still racing with the echoes of our connection.

"Should we clean up?" He offers after a while. I shake my head, closing my eyes.

"Too tired." I mumble in a sleepy voice.

"Okay," he whispers, his voice soft and gentle as he snuggles with me, shaking an arm around my waist as he pulls me closer to him. "How are you feeling though?" He adds, his voice gentle and full of concern. My fingers trace lazy patterns on Devon's chest, my touch gentle and affectionate. My head rests against his shoulder, and I can feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, a comforting reminder of the love we share. I smile as I utter my next words.

"Sore."

I hear him chuckle above me, brushing off the hair strands that are stuck to my face. Devon's arm tightens around me, pulling me even closer as he presses a loving kiss to my forehead. "You're incredible," he murmurs, his voice filled with awe and admiration.

I smile, my heart swelling with affection. "You're not so bad yourself," I tease, my fingers tracing a path along his collarbone. In his embrace, I feel cherished, surrounded by the warmth of his love.

We settle into a comfortable silence, the world outside fading away as we revel in the intimacy of our connection. It's in these moments that we truly understand the depth of our bond, the unspoken promises that bind us together.

As we continue to cuddle, our conversation drifts from one random topic to another. We discuss our favorite childhood memories, our dreams for the future, and even the most trivial of things like our preferred ice cream flavors. With each word exchanged, our bond grows stronger, and the worries of tomorrow fade into the background.

Quite suddenly, Devon peers at me, raising a brow.

"What?" I ask, a smile on my face. He hesitates a while but soon begins speaking.

"We... Haven't been using contraceptives for a while now. Are you perhaps on the pill?" He asks.

I stiffen, my smile dimming as I look away from. Slowly and very quietly, I answer. "You don't have to worry about that." I whisper sullenly, keeping my voice low.

"Why? What's wrong?" Devon asks but I just press my lips together, breathing heavily. After a long, tense silence, I steel my mind, deciding to tell him anyway.

"I might as well tell you everything now that we're on the topic." I murmur, adjusting myself. My gaze darkened in memory, I start to speak. "When I was younger, Zachary kept giving me pregnancy threats to bind me to him. So, in a bid to stop that, I had my tubes tied and removed so I wouldn't get pregnant." I feel Devon stiffen beneath me but continue anyway. "It seemed like a good decision at the time since I was so sure I would never get married or have kids but now... Now, I'm not so sure." I finally confess.

Devon doesn't say anything for a while and I begin to grow antsy. Unable to take it anymore, I look up at him and I'm surprised to find a look of tenderness in his eyes, with some traces of anger. Embarrassed, u look away but Devon pulls my hair away from my face and turns my gaze back to him.

"I'm so sorry to hear that." He tells me and tears spring into my eyes but I blink them back. He catches it anyway. "Why are you sad? You thought I would be angry?" He asks and I sniff, the air around us turning somber. I nod, sucking in my lower lip as I bury my face into his chest.

"Maybe, I may not be able to have kids for you." I say, my voice wobbly.

"Jessica, I only asked the question because I was worried about you getting pregnant while you continued your education. Nothing else." He states and I glance at him, suprised he thought that far ahead for me.

"I know, but..." I trail off, groaning out loud. Glancing at him, I try again. "Don't you want to have children?"

He looks at me, a smile playing on the corner of his lips as he strokes my hair. "Well, there was a time when I was absolutely sure I wouldn't be married but here we are. Children or no children, I honestly don't think I mind, Jessica." He answers and for some reason, relief floods my chest.

"What if I'm unable to have kids for you?" I ask, unable to tap down my curiosity. Devon pulls me up to a seating position, laying my head on his chest as he caresses my back.

"When we get to that bridge, well know how to cross it." He tells me. I smile but my mood isn't lifted. "I didn't marry you so you can have children for me." He adds. "I married you so because I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Children, are just an addition. Don't let that worry you." He says and the worry that has seized my heart disappears like the wind.

I lean in to kiss him, a silent expression of gratitude for his unwavering love for me. "Thank you," I whisper against his lips. He deepens the kiss, groping me harder as our lips perform a slow, sensual dance, a testament to his love for me. Breaking the kiss, I pull away to lay my head back on his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat.

I'm grateful for his words although also embarrassed that I should feel such relief from him not wanting to have kids. He starts to caress my hair and back and I feel the tension in my body begin to dissipate, a soft yawn escaping my lips. I close my eyes, let out a deep breath and allow sleep to take over my entire being.

The next day, after having what I will describe as the best night of my life, I wake up feeling not so good. My thighs aches from last night and my body is very sticky as well. Devon on the other hand seems to have gotten out of bed, had his bath and is now coming to wake me up as well.

The mattress shifts with his weight when he sits on it, and I can feel his warm breath tickling my skin as he leans in to kiss my temple.
