Chapter 96
Rico.
"Do something man" Alessio whispers as he stared at the sad girl wailing on her father's grave, and quickly looks away.
"Let her have her time first" It's sad looking at her form.
"This is harder than I thought, I can't believe Seb is no more" he sighs rubbing his forehead stressfully.
"Shit happens bro," I whisper squeezing his shoulders in comfort.
"I'm trusting you, brother, please don't fail me. I can't look at her for another minute" If I didn't know Alessio, I would say he is about to cry.
"I'm taking her to the cabin for some time if that's okay with you"
"I will call to know how she's doing" he quickly puts on his sunglasses and walks away.
The graveyard is almost empty. Only ten of her men are here and the girl from that crappy neighborhood.
"Hey," I say approaching the guy Fabio. I have noticed he is closest to her than any of her workers.
"I'm taking her with me, you can go ahead" The man stares at me in doubt, like he is not sure about my request.
"I will have to ask her first, or we are coming with you," he says looking at Mia, and I wonder if she is in the right mind to decide at this moment.
"Of course not. Alessio is okay with it, you need to trust me. Mia is not in a position to do anything now and I believe no one wants to see her like that" I nudge my chin to the sad scene at the freshly covered grave.
The girl is practically digging up the wet soil with her fingers.
"Yeah, I will assign guards to accompany you, we can't let her leave alone. She is our priority man, hope you understand " I nod walking to Mia.
I can't argue with him any longer. They don't know me, and if something happens to her, I will be held accountable. I'm used to having men around me anyway.
"Hey, baby come on" I murmur, touching her shoulder but she doesn't stop digging out the mad, nor turn to look at me.
How do I do this?
I should have asked Mum for ideas first.
"No, no, no, come back, you are not going anywhere Dad" she shouts pulling out her knife to help her dig out more mad.
Wait! Is she trying to reach the coffin?
"I'm sorry" I whisper lifting her from the ground and she starts kicking her legs about and hitting me with her dirty hands.
"Let me go rico, you are not taking me away from him. You don't understand" I nod at Fabio and he quickly opens my car for me. Two of his guys get in one of theirs ready to follow us.
I sit in the small space and adjust her on my lap. I'm scared she might open the door and jump out if I place her in the passenger seat.
"You will be okay" I mumble but I don't know if she heard me from how loud her hiccups are. The girl hides her face in the crook of my neck, and I opt to run my fingers through her hair.
Should I call Mum to come over?
No. This is the only chance to get closer to Mia as Alessio suggested. I need to do this on my own if I want her as mine.
The hiccups and sniffling reduce after a while and the soft snores make me realize she's asleep. So the trick is my fingers in her hair?
With a relieved sigh, I start the car to my only place of solace.
A place that gives me peace of mind when I need to be alone. I have a house far away from the city.
It's in remote areas and I prefer it to my main home.
It's already dark when we arrive and the princess in my arms is still asleep.
The gates automatically open, and I drive to my garage followed by the two cars which have been close on my tail for the two hours.
Like expected from them, they are quick to get out and hold my door for me.
"The door" I hand one of them my key and he rushes to the main door of the house.
There is enough space for them to settle.
I walk to my room with her and contemplate whether to wake her up or not. She needs to wash up at the same time, I'm scared she might lose control if I wake her up.
So to be safe, I lay her on my bed and cover her up. The dress she wore is not tight, It won't be uncomfortable for her to sleep in it.
I need to call Mum. I have no idea what to do with her when she wakes up.
Walking to the balcony, I ease myself into the chair and dial her number.
"What is it, son?" she yawns signifying that she was already in bed.
Where do I start? Mother will kill me if I told her about the fight to death.
"Son?"
"I found someone," I quickly say but she doesn't talk. Fuck! Say something.
"We just buried her dad and she's not herself right now, I'm stuck on what to do Mum"
"Where are you ?" She quickly asks and I sigh before answering.
"At the cabin"
"With her?"
"Yeah"
"What about her mum, she needs to be with her family right now, Rico" my mother reprimands disapprovingly, and it saddens my heart when I remember the facts.
"That's the problem, Mum, she doesn't have anyone else"
"Shit Rico," I can tell she quickly sat up from the shock in her voice. "I will be there, give me a minute"
"No mother, I need to learn how to do this. I want to try this with her, I just need directions" Fuck! I just admitted it.
"Ooh my baby, you don't know how happy you just made Rico. I have been praying for this miracle for so long..."
"Mum" I instantly cut off her ranting.
"Okay, let's see. Be yourself around her, if she is going to trust you Rico, she needs to know the real you. Make her food, women like men who can cook"
" Wait Mum, i don't know how to do that shit" How the hell am I supposed to get in the kitchen? My men do the cooking.
" That shit will help you win a girl's heart Rico, i keep teaching you and your brother but no one pays attention" Oh men! She will start naming and counting our mistakes.
"Okay, okay, something else I should do?"
" Take her out on dinner dates, picnics, take her swimming, go shopping with her, braid her hair.."
" Okay mum, Fuck, I didn't see Carl doing what you just mentioned" Maybe she is just mentioning random things. This is too much.
"Make her warm baths and showers, just do normal stuff people do together. You know, when her mind is occupied she won't have time to think about what she lost, and also she will feel safe around you. The pain will lessen in no time."
" Okay, thank you" I mumble wondering how I'm gonna do all that.
"I called your brother hours ago. I'm hosting a family come-together next weekend, I hope to meet this girl there, Rico"
"Mum, that's so soon" This is why I don't tell her stuff. She is always ahead of everything.
"Good night Rico, I will be waiting"
