Chapter 125
Rico.
"Is she the one?" Marco motions in Mia's direction and I nod. When I stepped down from the gang, he was the one to take my place. And like I said, they are always there when I need them. These are my most trusted friends. I knew Marco, Diego, and Dante when I was ten. They have always been here. When Dad sent me to jail, he made sure they followed me shortly after.
Thanks to the Russian fucker we got out.
When I saw how disturbed Mia was, I knew I had to reach out to them. She started burning up at night and I had a clue she would be sick from how worn out she was. I wouldn't let her indulge in another mission because that's what she could have done, sick or not. So I had Fabio reach out to that cop because apparently, he seems to know much about these people's location.
Carl volunteered to come with us and I couldn't tell him no.
When Kay called and told me she had collapsed, my mind wandered in all the worse places and I had to run back here. I wash shit scared and the only thing I wanted was to kill Marcello. He was smart enough to escape.
I wish I never told her that I wanted her to move in with me. She doesn't want to and it makes me feel like crap. I didn't intend to rush her into anything but I couldn't stop myself from thinking about it. It's always lonely here and I can only find comfort in her arms.
"Seriously brother? Maxim Volkov? Why does he want from her anyway?"
"He is her maternal grandfather and the woman you just brought in is his daughter. Talk about fucked up"
"And you think we stand a chance? That fucker will be on our backs Rico. Everyone stays away from him for a reason"
"Don't you trust me, Marco?"
"You know I do"
" Then stop whining and get everyone ready. We are not going to rest until he's dead"
"Is she worth it though?" I look at Marco and for the first time, I feel like punching the hell out of him.
"Don't be stupid Marco. Have you ever seen Rico bring a woman home before?" Diego scoffs and turns to me. "My loyalty is with you, brother. Let me know when you need anything" Diego mutters joining the rest of the guys.
Marco doesn't know Mia has her own gang. He thinks she is some hopeless girl I am trying to protect.
"I didn't mean it like that brother, I just thought she was..."
"Rico, I am heading out" Alessio interrupts Marco and I nod walking him outside the house.
"Thanks, man"
"I understand bunny doesn't like help but you should have told me what is going on, Rico. She is my responsibility as she is yours. Whatever Maxim wants, must be of much value that's why we need to find that parcel before he lays his hands on it" Alessio carefully whispers.
"Seb and Maxim never got along, that's why he chose Mia over his wife. He trusted her with whatever this old man wants"
"Do you know what it is?" I can't help but feel curious.
"No. I don't. Another thing that I know Mia won't tell you is that, her relationship with that woman was strained. She is having a hard time even seeing her. Mia should be your priority, Rico. When she gets better we will plan what to do next. Right now her health matters."
"She never talks about her mother. Did she do something to Mia?" She is always thrilled when talking about her Father. But not a day has she ever mentioned her mother. I didn't think much about it until now.
" Mia will tell you when she is ready. I gotta run brother. I am urgently needed somewhere" He gives me a bro hug and rushes to his car.
"Thanks again"
"She is my little sister. I should be the one thanking you. Remember to tell me everything that is happening around here" Alessio yells and I watch until he drives away before turning around.
However, the fighting couples headed my way stop me in my tracks." I can't deal with you, I am out of here" Sandra screams. She throws the crying baby in Dante's arms and rushes past me to the gates.
"Yeah, walk away bitch. Don't show your ugly face to me again" Dante retorts and I wonder what their problem is again.
" You can have one of your whores raise that baby" She yells, finally disappearing behind the gate.
"Fuck" Dante murmurs, cluelessly staring at the crying baby. It's like he is seeing him for the first time.
"I give that bitch everything but she doesn't appreciate any of it. She wants freedom. Let her be fucking free"
They have always behaved this way for the last four years. It was better when a baby wasn't involved.
I thought the little guy would make them stop but it only gets worse.
"I am not good at relationships, but you guys are fucked up. You know that right?" I take the baby from him and he instantly sighs in relief. Idiot.
" She wants us to settle and I am not ready for that shit, yet" Dante sighs, looking lost. His worried gaze remains on the gate, as he expects Sandra to burst through it. Their relationship is toxic.
"What's so bad about settling down, Dante? I would jump at that opportunity if Mia asked me to"
"That's because she has manners, Rico. Sandra is always nagging about everything. It became worse when she got pregnant. She complains about everything. Why do you think I rather spend my nights here than at my own house?"
" Maybe if you stopped sleeping around" I constantly rub the baby's back and he gradually stops crying.
"And she doesn't? She is the reason I'm doing this brother, she drives me crazy. She wants more money, she demands the latest designs of clothes and handbags, and she wants a new car. Even after giving them to her, she is still unsatisfied. I think I am done" He sadly whispers and I don't push him anymore.
Now I think I am lucky. Mia is humble. She never shouts at me even when I fuck us up. Instead, she takes action and makes everything suitable. I need to appreciate her more. She has never asked for anything.
Maybe I should surprise her with a gift.
What will that be though? She has everything. From flashy Cars to pretty handbags. I should ask Kay for a piece of advice. There must be something.
The boys are eating when I enter the living room. Most men are Mia's. Carl came with Ed, Sam and five more. The idiot that hurt Mia ran away. Mum said Kay shot him and I wish it were on the head.
My family is crowded in the kitchen. Kay and Mia are whispering to each other and when I walk in, they give me the look they gave me earlier when I carried the baby. I know they were talking about me from how they were whispering.
I smirk when an idea crosses my mind. I want Kids, but I don't know what the woman I love thinks about them. So I walk to the two girls and one of them quickly pinches the other to stop her from talking.
"Hey, Rico" Kay chirpily greets, when Mia doesn't understand why she was pinched. Mia quickly turns to me and her cheeks form a deep blush. She must hate her complexion for selling her out.
"Why do I have a feeling you two were talking about me?"
The look on their faces is priceless. It's like a deer caught in the headlights.
So they were talking about me.
