Chapter 71 CHAPTER 71
He led me out after handing me some forms to fill. Just basic information and then he gave me another slip to excuse myself from evening training.
Okay, this was real.
This is really happening.
He walked ahead of me, out of the office and into the elevator.
I was shaking a bit by the time it opened up to a large floor, filled with nothing but training equipments.
The entire third floor was just a large gym.
I still haven't figured out how they concealed everything from the outside view
The windows were shut tightly and air conditioning was at a very high temperature, making my wolf rouse in a bid to regulate my body.
There were several people training on the ground, on the machines and some were using swords to fight.
I noticed another room, glass was used to create it so I could see inside.
A shooting range. People were there, firing real guns.
Shit.
“Havana, Spain and Kael. Please come,” Alpha Bauer called and I watched three people break off from the training groups and heard towards us.
The girl had on locs that went past her shoulders, and her warm, chocolate skin shone as she grinned at me.
The other guy was lean, almost like he didn't belong here where muscles were the word of the day. I couldn't even smell his wolf properly.
“Alpha,” the said in unison, bowing a little.
“Yes, you all have been briefed on your mission. She'll take you back with her and Beta Voss will situate you into the Pack. Report every week, unfailingly. I don't care if the world is crumbling, I want detailed reports from all three of you, alright?”
They nodded and then he turned to me.
“My personal contact is in the files I gave to you. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything. I'll be leaving you now.”
“Am I to wait? Can we leave now?” I asked, not sure what next.
“We're done here, just wait at the reception so we can shower and grab our bags,” the girl, Havana I think, replied.
I nodded and walked with the council head to the elevator.
“Why do I need three trainers though?” I asked him as the elevator doors closed, “Kael did a good job with me the last time.”
“Kael only teaches you combat. Spain will work on your mind and Havana, well, Havana does whatever she wants but delivers a great job.”
“What does a great job.. mean?”
“It means that by the end of your training, you'll be more than ready to kill the Vampire King and his blade.”
The elevator doors opened in tune with my racing heart and he walked out.
I stepped out before it shut in my face and I sat down at the bench and waited for them.
Before stepping out, Alpha Bauer turned back to me and I sat up.
“Did you need something?”
“Keep an eye on him, alright?”
“Who?”
“Cael Valkori. We'll get him soon but for now, we need you to keep him here. Do whatever you think necessary.”
“Oh.. okay. I'll do my best.”
He grinned at me and walked away.
Shit, now I'll have to tell him to leave soon. I was upset he was leaving next week and now, this.
But I locked the matter away for some other time.
Looking around to ensure there were no cameras, I pulled out my phone and texted Naomi.
Then I got one from Fabian.
{Where are you, Darling?}
{I went out of town for an errand, I'll be back in the evening.}
{You went out of town without telling me?}
{Sorry, it came out of nowhere but don't worry, I'm already on my way back.}
{So you're texting and driving? Who's there with you?}
{You're so cute when you're jealous.}
I edited out the emojis I put there and sighed.
{You make my chest tighten every time I don't know where you are.}
{I apologize. What are you doing this evening?}
{Nothing. Why?}
{There's this party. Teachers are allowed to come too, in fact, all the teachers are coming. It's a Nashville town thing but hosted by my family and that of the mayor. Do you wanna come with me?}
{Yes.}
I grinned and sent Naomi his response almost immediately.
I couldn't wait to see him outside of school again.
{Pick you up by what time?}
{Oh no, no pick ups. My aunt doesn't know a teacher is driving me crazy. Yet.}
{I'm doing what?}
{I'm not repeating that😂}
{I'll just read it again and again. I drive you crazy.}
{You're funny. We'll meet up at the venue. I'll text it to you, okay?}
{Okay.}
{Please if you see me with my aunt, could you pretend you just like my brain and not everything else?}
The dialogue image bubbled up and down for a long minute.
{I laughed so hard at that. And don't worry, I'll keep my hands to myself.}
“Who's got you blushing that hard, huh?”
I startled so hard my phone fell.
“Ouch, our saviour is clumsy?” Havana doubled down, grinning at me.
“Leave her alone, Hav,” Kael said, a smile in his eyes.
I picked my phone up and winced at the little crack.
Thank the universe that I got this money now, I'll have to change the phone. I've had it since forever.
“Can we leave now?” Spain grumbled, his hands digging into his pockets.
“Yea, sure,” I breathed and gathered my things.
I walked ahead of them to the car and they all filed in, and I drove back to Nashville.
There was a charged energy everywhere by the time I got home.
It was about four in the evening and the town was already dressing up, both the buildings and the people.
The way Edgar had spoken about it, I didn't realise it would be this big.
Looks like I'll get at least one night of relaxing before I get thrown into this weird universe where I'm being trained like a missile.
