Chapter 56 CHAPTER 56

Chapter 56 CHAPTER 56
CAEL'S POV

The desire to stop existing is great in my mind when I find the people I was looking for.

I'd given so many people an assignment to find Marcus and for some reason, the world no longer respects my position.

Of course, they've heard I'm going crazy over a woman meant to kill me and they assume I'm still blade, but a blunt one.

"I said I'll do it next week, I have a lot on my hands!" One of Turan's men grunts.

He was holed up in a warehouse that used to contain farmers.

Now only their tools remained and I'm assuming their blood is the reason this nut job thinks he can talk to me this way.

My sword comes out and he begins to run.

Thankfully I haven't seen Sera in two weeks so I'm still strong and agitated.

My patience has run out so when I caught him, I didn't bother with dialogue.

I sliced his head off his neck and cleaned the ash away immediately.

Then I turned around to the rest of them.

"Who else wants to tell me what to do with my assignment?" I growl, stalking towards the group of five.

"My Lord,. Please give us a day, we will go, I swear it!"

"You all really have a death wish!"

"No, there's a half-blood hunt going on, we heard of it this morning!"

"You all are scared of one-half blood? One?!"

"She's... Different..sir. She killed Ethan Reeves."

My eyes widened but I regained my composure immediately.

Ethan was a blood brother to Lord Luke, the head of North America.

He refused to change him until about a century ago and the boy veered off from his family and came here.

He's made quite a name for himself, acquiring more properties than most vampires older than him by a century.

The council must be getting desperate if they're sending half-bloods to kill stronger vampires rather than the mentally messed-up ones.

At this point, it wasn't the clean-up they advertised it as.

So I collected the coordinates from them and sped off.

My car was back in Nashville and I won't touch it until she's back. Ever since she disappeared, I've not been able to sit still.

While my brother worries she's been taken by the wrong people, I fear she's run away and is in some scary place where she might get hurt.

I still remember that bastard Alpha's son and the way his eyes looked at her.

Who knows what can happen to her without my protection?

It took me three hours to get to the other side of town where Ethan set up residence

I didn't know him personally so when I saw the abandoned artefact he was supposedly living in despite having lots of penthouses, I wondered if he was actually going crazy.

My nose picked up something that touched every sense organ in my body and I nearly flew up the stairs to where it was from

Right on the third step, ruckus settled.

I bent down and I found two strands of hair that I'm very familiar with

My fingers quickly scattered the ash like a maniac, looking for the others I could scent.

I was panting like a mad dog when I picked it out of Ethan Reeves' remains, barely remembering what I came here for.

Dusting off every odd scent from it, I was left with just hers.

I folded it in my palm and brought it up to my nose, and inhaled.

My cock slapped against my jeans, my eyes rolled into my head and my knees buckled.

I slouched against the wall and kept inhaling.

When I finally regained my senses, I realised what the fuck was happening here.

She didn't run away and no strange being kidnapped her.

They're putting her through this messed-up system.

Ruining her innocence.

I wanted to grab the thick neck of every wolven elder that sanctioned this and squeeze until everything pops.

Her scent is still fresh here so I trace it.

They travelled by road so I ran at the edge, covered by the forests but still within scent range.

Of course, it led to Nashville and into the school but at some point, it disappeared into thin air.

I didn't know what to make of it, there are some things I don't know.

Scratch that, anything that isn't directly involved with murdering people for the crown, Marcus takes care of it.

And now that he's gone, I have no one to ask if there's an underground tunnel in this building

Frustrated, I went back to the hotel and found myself going over the records of the prophecy again.

"Still torturing yourself?"

He signed.

"I don't know what to do with myself. I've never not known what to do, I'm the King of an entire rave for fucks sake and I can't even find her or how to be with her!"

"I know where she is," I said.

Fabian was on his feet in an instant.

"What are we doing here? Let's go!"

"Sorry, that came out wrong. I know what's up with her but I doubt she can be found."

"What do you mean? Stop pissing me off and talk!"

Jeez, I'm driving him feral.

"She just finished what I assume to be her first kill."

"She's a half-blood," he stated as though he didn't know before.

"Two choices, we wait for her to be done or we go back. We can also start teaching in her school so there's no suspicion when she's back."

"The last idea. Yes. Let me call Gwen. She's going to be King a bit longer."

"She'll hate you," I chuckled.

"She shouldn't have joined me to fight my father for the throne then."

I shook my head and went to my work table.

I'm still searching for Marcus and if the need arises, I'm going out there to remind everyone who I am and will always be.

Today showed me an inkling of what will happen to us if we choose her and become human.

We won't just lose the throne, many will spit on us and I refuse to let that happen
