Chapter 41 CHAPTER 41
SERA'S POV
My wolf is a slut.
Not in the insulting way that word has been tarnished but a breathing, ass throwing, image conjuring wolf who won't let me concentrate in class.
“But just look at his arms, thick and long, Sera. He can carry us in whatever position he wants to put us and ravish us!”
“Isn't there a way to shut you off?” I nearly groaned out loud.
The man she claimed so cheerfully was ours was doing everything to avoid our eyes.
I mean after that first time where it felt like everything in existence had faded away, I saw his jaw tic and that's been it.
He didn't even pick me to answer questions despite my hands being in the air several times.
And as though the day couldn't get any worse, everyone in class was actively answering questions or asking.
It was so strange.
Look, these last two weeks, I'd seen these wolves kiss while a teacher was teaching, talk loudly above them and when a new one tried to call them to order, they chased her out of the class.
And this man was making them obey, without lifting an eyebrow.
I don't know why I found that very arousing.
“Who's the slut now, huh?” Sabrina stuck out her wolf tongue at me.
I shook my head and forced myself to listen to the story he was telling the class.
And then I frowned.
My hands went up even though I'd resigned to never raise my hand in this class again.
“Yes, Miss Voss?”
My heart lurched forward as he finally looked my way.
But only for a second, and that was all it took for my question to turn to mush in my brain.
“You wanted to ask me a question?” He prodded and I took a deep breath and recollected myself.
“Yes sir, sorry for the… In the textbooks, the cause of the Great War was due to limited resources. You're saying something entirely different.”
“When you read that, what was your first thought?” He asked, folding his arms across his chest and revealing a tattoo that began from his hand and disappeared into his sleeves.
“It was odd. Vampires feed on humans not normal food so both species hunt on different grounds.”
“Smart girl,” he beamed and it felt like he'd just sprinkled sugar and rainbows all over me.
I sat down and he asked others what they thought but I guess growing up a wolf built a sort of loyalty that didn't allow free thinking.
“There was a struggle for resources, quite alright,” he sighed after another student disappointed him, “but it wasn't over farmlands or livestock or spices. It was over humans.”
“But sir wolves don't drink blood,” Pragya spoke up.
“No but how many of you have more than two siblings?”
Nobody raised their hands.
“As powerful as your species is, you're still outnumbered by everyone else to date. But then, there was an active attempt to populate and humans were perfect for that, still are. They might not produce the strongest wolves, but they could have four, eight, or more depending on the strength of the human. And on the other hand, the vampires are capable of turning every living non-supernatural being into a vampire. Goats and lizards alike. It's no easy feat but it's very possible.”
“That's how their interests clashed,” I realised out loud, “access and control.”
“Perfect,” he nodded at me and then the change of class bell rang.
He gathered his things which were just the writing pen he came with and a jotter and headed towards the door.
“See me during lunch Mr Kane. Miss Voss, you too.”
And then he was gone, leaving me confused.
What did I do?
If you put a gun to my head and ask me what the last teacher taught in class, I'd be dead.
All I thought about was the details of his face, his chest and height, the authority in his voice when he spoke.
Most importantly, my new mate isn't any part of this whole nonsense.
He didn't smell exactly like anything but I know he's no wolf or vampire.
The thought of having to wait till I finish school before I can tell him is driving me insane by the way.
I won't be like my father who put his mate through hell after he died because she didn't know what he was.
But I can't have anything to do with a teacher.
The second the bell rang, I was out of my seat, not waiting for anything.
“Are you that hungry?” Edgar chuckled next to me.
“Yes, but I have to see Mr Fabian first before so I'm in a hurry.”
“Don't you find it weird that he doesn't have a surname?” Tori asked, looking at me.
“I'll ask him for you, don't worry,” I said, walking away before they notice my shaky hands.
At the door, Kane joined me and then nudged me out of the path.
“You are so desperate for a chance to be a bully and it's damn pathetic that you can't even do that.”
“Stop provoking him girl,” one of the Pack members said to me.
“If he respects himself, I will. Otherwise, I'll give him as much hell as he deserves and none of you ass licking winnies will do anything about it,” I snarled in her face and walked past her dazed face.
“I love how you're not letting any of them talk down on us,” Sabrina said to me.
“Before I had you, I was scared of everything but now, I don't and I just want to give them as much headache as possible.”
I got to the entrance of his office and he'd turned Kane into a slave.
I'm not even kidding.
The Alpha's son was shining a Human's shoe.
I've seen everything, the world can end now.
“Get out,” he snapped at Kane and he rushed out.
I cleared the path for him but I couldn't help the snickers that escaped me.
He growled at me and I returned it, widening my eyes as well.
Gosh, from everything I've learned about Alphas, this one is a failure.
“Shut the door behind you, Miss Voss.”
“Yes sir.” And then to the boy trying to win a staring contest with me, “shoo!”
He had no choice but to stalk away and I shut the door in his face, a grin of satisfaction plastered on my face.
“Thank you for that sir, you have no idea how much of an arsehole he is.”
“I can smell it on him. But he's not why I called you. Sit down, will you?”
I nodded and got closer, his scent rendering me spineless.
Sandalwood. The smell of the earth after a heavy rain. Strawberry.
Mixed together, I was feeling heady, and I had to pinch myself to focus.
“What do you need sir?”
“You're very intelligent. It's not something I see often these days. How did you manage to be this beautiful and book smart?”
I blushed and then started telling a stranger about my past.
Gosh, I'm royally fucked.
